Dawne, that is so awesome. I read the whole LOR series to DS when he was about 7 years old, when the movies came out he was middle school age, so before each movie we would each re-read the book & then go together (skipping confirmation for the premerie of the Two Towers, and I was the teacher!). We also studied all the appendix materials to get the background. DS is in his 20's now but is going to come home so we can go together. I'm not sure if we will do the midnight show or wait until the next day...I'd do midnight, if he can swing it! I better drag out The Hobbit and glance through it before next week!
