Barbara, that sunset pic is soooo pretty ... I'm very partial to sunset pics (if you didn't see mine from last weekend, they were pretty good!!!)  As for why the males are more vibrant, it's to attract the female - they can't get girls on their own with their wit and brains, so they have to be outstanding with their plumage and colors ... true :)

Oh Lisa, that looks like a kid coloured it!! Those are what I call "disney" ducks. That orange part looks plastic. I bet the female is gray....

BarbaraA-for us inlanders, that would seem to be a given; if you're at the beach, why leave?

yes Lisa, I'm rather partial to that one myself!  right along the lines of the sunset one last week with the reflection in the shallow water.  here's today's offering - was trying to get the little bird along the water's edge but I swear he'd run every time I got out the camera!!!

Eph3_12 that is a local ferry that goes from New London, CT to Fisher's Island, NY several times a day.

Barbara A and SoCalLisa, what beautiful photos you take!

Marlegal, the sunlight sparkling off of the water is one of my all time favorite things too, I cannot get enough of it.  The other thing that I cannot take my eyes off of is when there is a full moon and the moon beams sparkle off of the water.  As the earth moves the moon beam moves across the water with it.  It's a little surreal to watch.  I don't want to come inside when it happens and many times I have fallen asleep in my chair.
