Mumayan -- Where did you stay in Holguin? Was the snorkling good right off the beach or did you have to take a boat to a reef? Holguin's on my list.

Hi Elizabeth . We stayed at a Melia resort called Paradisus Rio de oro resort and spa.Adults only .It is on Esmerelda beach and yes You can snorkle off the rightside of the beach.Lots of coral there but the water was a bit rough so you need to be a strong swimmer. There is another resort shareing the beach but I did not catch the name of it.We like this resort because there is no kids and the food and service is excelent.
We have also stayed at the melia Las Americanas in Veradero. It has a beautiful golf course.Veradero is a much busier and not so quiet area in Cuba. But all the beaches are wonderful in Cuba.

You guys are so lucky to be able to go to Cuba. I guess I could go if I went to Cayman first and the Cubanos didn't stamp my passport.0

When we were at the holguin airport we noticed that there was an American airlines flight to Miami on the flight schedule.. At our resort it was mostly full of Canadians and British.

Here is my Halloween photo. Took this in Mexico.0

Barbara -- when I was in Cuba a few years ago they didn't stamp my passport. They give you a little card that you fill out and they stamp that - at the time it cost $50CDN (~45USD). They understand that not all countries like to see a Cuba stamp in their passports.
The beach in Varadero (stayed at Beaches Resort, champagne for breakfast every day!) feels like talcum powder. And you can drink the water. Service is wonderful, they speak English and must have a university degree in hoteliery to even wait tables! Very friendly. The unlimited booze that made me think I could dance.

They are stamping them now they want to know who the repeat visitors are..

Oh crap. Do you think having a Cuba stamp will be an issue anywhere, like entering the US?
0 -
I don;t think so.I have been all over US and Europe and have several chinese visa stamps as well no one has ever asked us about our stay in comunist countries.

Thanks -- sorry for hijacking the thread.

Yeah but being a US citizen with a Cuba stamp could put me on Homeland Security radar...not somewhere I want to be. RATS!!

KK, sweetie, KK....... please feel free to hijack our beach on a daily basis. PLEASE!! It makes my entire day seeing your face, seeing it on a repeated basis just fills me to the gills with joy!!
Spent the evening trick-or-treating with my grand-peeps: one tiger, one giraffe and one sweet little red headed butterfly.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
I have to tell you what happened just before I arrived at their house. Twinzie brother climbed out of his crib (for the first time in his life.) Then he proceeded to pull over the changing table/dresser. Out flew a TUB of vaseline. He then apparently spent their entire "nap-time" smearing the slimy greasy stuff all over his & sissy's hair. It was soooooooooooooooooooooo thick. We gave them a pre-trick-or-treat bath and mommy shampooed their hair no less than 8 times. It was STILL totally thick with slime.
We figure it will take about 3 or 4 weeks till it--the slime, wears off??? He had pulled ever 'wipe' outta the container and they were EVERYWHERE!!!! Like the container had exploded.
Mommy said that neither of them had made one peep during this whole adventure! LOL
I did my best not to laugh.
It truly was hilarious.
Mommy's gonna have her hands seriously full now.

Oh.
I meant to share a picture from last week when we were still in WI.
This is the northern point of the peninsula, from atop a hill:
This is just short of where Green Bay meets Lake MI. The 'door' of Door County...... named for 'death's door' as there were so many sailing deaths thru those choppy waters. On this golden afternoon, just glorious!!!!

Faith, cute cute cute. Your grandson reminds me of my younger, redheaded brother with his stunt with the Vaseline. His favorite pastime the summer just before he turned 3 was somewhat similar. Dad had been laid off and we had to stay with his brother on the family homestead. No electricity, no running water. Every time he could get away from Mom he would run off to the machine shop, shed his clothing, sit in the pan of crank case drainings ( dirtiest oil ever!) and smear it all over, hair and all. HOT summer and Mom had to heat the water for bathing on the coal stove.

Hi beachettes! Long time no see!
I love hearing about all your travels. I went to the U.P. of MI earlier in the month & have yet to get the pics onto the computer. I will share when I do.
What can I bring to the party? Oh my, I don't even know what I'm going to wear yet.....better get hoppin'! Hope I don't have to iron anything, cos I don't know if I could find my ironing board, let alone the iron.
faithie ~ What an adorable pic of your Halloweenie cuties!

Ever since I started this journy we are all on to find the answer to dealing with BC and all its trials I have often felt I am wandering through a dark nd frightening forest. Since I woke an hour ago with a horrible pain in my sholder that has started since I began taking Anastrozole, I've been just surfing and found this among some posted by one of our local photographers. It symolizes the light and hope I find here among my sisters. Especially on dark nights like this. Thank you all so much.

Ladies - I want to share something with you. (If you read this on the Middies site already, you can stop reading, this is the same post!!) Many of you know that I'm attending the Rock the Ribbon celebration tomorrow night at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. If you've been on bc.org within the last several weeks you should have seen the ads for it! I am attending as a guest of bco as a result of participating in a video shoot they did a while back in the Phila area (thank you again Angie for that!!!). Anyway, one of the things I'm most looking forward to, aside from listening to Harry Connick, Jr. for a while, is meeting Dr. Marisa Weiss at a gathering after the event. I've said to many of you over the past few weeks that I'd give her a big hug on behalf of all of us. Well, I got to thinking about it today, wishing I had thought ahead of time to pick up a gift for her as a token of our appreciation. Then - voila - I got a great idea (which is actually very unusual for me!!) I could get her a gift certificate from SpaFinder.com, an outfit that works with thousands of spas across the country. So I checked to see how many spas in the Delaware/Montgomery County area accept them, and there were dozens. And who can't appreciate a good massage or facial now and then? So anyway, I got the gift certif ... you can print it directly after purchase ... and I'll give it to her tomorrow night with a note (already written) saying how at some point we all wind up saying that we just don't know what we would have done without bco in our lives after diagnosis, and that we're taking this opportunity to show her a small measure of our appreciation. I signed it "Chatters and Boarders". I am at a good point in my life where I can comfortably afford to do this on behalf of all of us, which gives me more joy than I can tell you. I'll be thinking of every single one of you tomorrow night as I sit there listening to the speakers during the 10th anniversary celebration of breastcancer.org, and maybe even during the after party, which we have comp tickets for also! I am soooo psyched about this I'll try for pictures if I remember, but I have a tendency to forget I have a camera when I'm excited!

Mar. You are brilliant to have thought of your idea. BRILLIANT!!!! Brilliant. Brilliant. Thank you so much for your brain-storm and for including all of us in your act of kindness. PLEASE remember to take pictures. Soak up the event. Share it with us. We are so in need of a partyyyyyyyyyyyy.
I seriously need to get my act together for CA.
I did get my hair-cut/spruced up today..........
And I got the coolest business cards created right at Staples. As they would be very happy for me to report, it was "EASY" and I love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been out for a while and the ones I've had since our move were just so generic. These are awesome.

Faith, thank you ... we do precious little that makes us feel good and selfless, and this was one of those things - I've already gotten more out of it than I put into it, honest to God. Post pics of your new hairdo!!!
