LIFES A BEACH!

Good morning beachies, It's finally sunny here in south FL. The sun has been hiding a lot lately because of fog. Guess we're having hot days and cooler nights....
Thought I would share last weekend at the beach. The sun was trying to peak out just a bit.
Not sure if this is going to turn out ok with the download.... be patient with me

It looks like I'll need to crop it more.... I'm so happy that I was able to at least get a photo in... yeah.
(((hugs to CurlieQS)))) hope you stop by and enjoy the serenity here at the beach. I'm open to take one of the chairs and just sit and enjoy the waves rushing in and the sun's warmth on the body. Sounds wonderful!
SoCal... my dd was in was in the pacific fleet during WWII and came back thru San Diego. He was able to go there a couple of years ago and saw all the memorial stuff. My DSister was there and DD started telling stories about the war and people gathered around him and listened... guess it was quite an experience for both of them. DD very rarely talked about it. He served on the Santa Fe that rescued the Franklin. Quite a story behind that.

raj, there are TV commercials here that say 'Valentine's day - it's not about you, it's about us."

samsue!!!! CONGRATS on posting your picture.... we're so glad to add your 'real life' beach to our many vistas to be appreciated.
It does take a while to get used to the process, but now you'll be an expert in no time.
I usually find that keeping the size parameters of the picture to 600 pixels on the landscape (left to right) direction will keep the photo within the frame of the post -- without necessitating the viewer to continuously scan back and forth across the screen with their mouse.
The trick then is to get the height in proportion to the width (or vice versa).
I can't remember who told me, but the suggestion was made to keep to approx 600 by 400 or 400 by 600, which makes for a pleasing proportion.
Hope that helps, because I am THRILLED to see hundreds and hundreds of visions from your neck of the woods!!!
My conference today was so moving -- such a poignant set of responses to my work......... from the children and their parents. Many 'older' children than I typically work with, but some very involved with a variety of disabilities.
Anyhow, we're nearly home.
Tonight we're going to a Valentines Dance -- and I have a RED dress!!!
Must go recharge my battery. Metaphorically and literally!!!!!
Happy Saturday, everyone.

I want to see dancing pics with the red dress Good to see a real beach picture in real time ... when we're in the doldrums of winter in the northeast it's sometimes hard to remember that in only another 3 months, i'll be at the New Jersey shore in my beloved trailer, going to my beloved beach on the Delaware Bay. Ahhhh....goes my soul good even to type those words!!

Wowzers, Lisa.
That was like we had a ring-side seat.
Thanks so much for sharing.
I can not fathom how they can fly that close in formation. We saw an airshow up in Oshkosh for their annual international fly-in celebration. It had some military but primarily was 'stunt' planes..... it was so breath-taking to watch and half the time I was so excited that I had to cover my eyes it was toooo excrutiating to watch. Such an ol' granny in the midst of all that power & precision.
Our dance was so much fun last night. Three piece trio. We even got to cha-cha!!!!!! Our favorite, but not a style that is in vogue down here. Well, actually I guess our all-time favorite is the swing, and there was PLENTY of that! Cha-cha comes in second, but so much fun to dust off.
Of approx 100 women, I would say that easily 97 were dressed in red. Seriously. It's fun to see just how much red, how many styles, how many choices one has in the red family. I was the only one wearing 'my' red dress...... so that turned out OK.
The first year we went I didn't know about the pact-to-wear-red and I was one of the 3 odd ducks. laugh-out-loud indeed........
Have a great Sunday everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm finishing working on a thrilling project that will be done before the sun sets..... it's a video/commercial/introduction 8 minute trailer of my work..... to be able to send to school districts etc. We're down to the final, final, final, final editing today and then hopefully it will post happily to YouTube.
Hopefully you can save me 8 minutes of your coming month and check it out at your leisure.
The sun is out!!!! Time to get to the gym and work off last night's decadence.

Barb, that is the wheat loader at the end of the jetty at Wallaroo in South Australia. The large grain ships dock there and the wheat is moved on a conveyor belt from the silos to the hold of the ship. It's interesting to watch. When there are no ships docked, people are allowed to fish there so it's quite a popluar place to be. You can also catch crab as well......yum!

Wow, Lisa, amazing pics. Have you ever been to the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida? It is on the Naval Air Station there. Last spring, I made a mad dash when I had a little break in treatment. After a long, dreary winter, I felt like I escaped a dark cave, and just drove all day with my boy to see the ocean again. We discovered the museum there and it is awe inspiring. They have an IMAX as part of the museum where we saw the Hubble, and also rode in a flight simulator.
Chrissy, very interesting pic. I take it that wheat is a strong export. I didn't know that about Australia. It's nice you can go catch dinner there!
Marlegal, that is a calming photo, and looks so peaceful there. It's nice to have some place to look forward to like that.

OK gals, here's a pic of DH's band at Jimmy B's Beach Bar this afternoon. I had to leave (they play until 7:30) because I was freezing. Only 68 today and it dropped like a rock after 5.

Barb - "only" 68 ??? I'd give my eye teeth for 68!! We were supposed to hit 50 today, but the sun had other ideas, stayed hidden all day, so it was very chilly 47. Still lots of snow around, so that damp cold mixes in - yeah...I'd take 68

I know, I know but for us Floridians this is torture. I am at home with the heat set at 72 and have a sweatshirt on, socks and I am still freezing. Bed is good. I have a great down comforter on it. We turn the heat to 65 and I am fine.

LOL - with the temps outside in the 20s overnight, our heat is at 62 ... never over 67 during the day. funny how we all adjust differently

You would totally be where I am if you ever lived here. When I lived in DC, our winter temp was 64 and summer was 82. Go figure.
