Barbe - I don't understand what you meant when you said "and it's like page after page of other peoples photos, of which you make your own composition. I like to work with my own pics and would hate for anyone to use them, so I'm out!" I don't think anyone is using anyone else's photos for anything except to look at enjoy, which is why we post them. All the pictures I post are ones that I have taken or are artwork have gotten from my publishing program. Can you please explain what you meant by what you wrote?

I figure if you post pix here anyone is welcome to use them...why not?
but I hope people don't change them and use them for something else..

Lisa - your pics are safe with me. If I ever want to copy one I will get your written permission and if I ever use it I will give you credit for it. Yours are so beautiful who would ever want to make any changes to them. I just was confused by what Barbe wrote. Does not take much to confuse me these days.

AmyJo..I especially love that shot of yours on the Big Sur with the beach and the waterfall, could you tell us where it was in case we ever get there??

Lisa - It was at one of the state parks along the Big Sur route. I will ask my SIL where it was exactly. A wealthy family owned all the land and donated it to be a state park when they died. I will let you know. after I talk with SIL. I do remember they had a rail line built to get down to that beach area, but it was removed before they died and there is now no access to the beach and waterfall. The house that was there, behind where I was standing when I took the picture was also destroyed and never rebuilt. Anyway I will let you know.

thanks AJ, what a wonderful spot..

Lisa - Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, the house was called the Waterfall house at Saddle Rock Ranch back in the 40's, it was a limestone house with fantastic ocean views on 3 sides. Here is a picture that SIL took and sent me.
edited to add: feel free to copy and enlarge so you can maybe read it.

Someone asked what Faith is addicted to. It's a website with all that info that AmyJo copied in her post above. I won't type it all out again. When I post a pic, I want it to stay mine. On that website, people use anyone's pics to make a composition.

No shore this weekend...............no one wants to go with "Irene" giving a huge hit to NJ...........Probably just as well.............Its bad enough when the house, and the pool are in danger, why add people..................It just stinks since this is getting near the end of "offical summer" season..............I so love spending the time with my family at my shore home.......we only get the summer months, and then its over..............when my husband was alive we went down summer and winter................but that is another story...........oh well.........it is what it is................thanks "Irene".

Lisa, how do you get the background such a pure black? I used to hang a black cloth behind my blooms, but then sometimes the black looked gray....

ducky, we're homebound this weekend too - it's mandatory now in case you didn't hear that news yet. so even though I had said I wouldn't go 'cause I'm a scaredy cat, now we have no choice. bad thing is that we had no idea last weekend this might be as bad as they're saying, so we have lots of outside stuff ... chairs, grills, trash cans, etc. I don't care about losing them, I just hope to God they don't fly around and hurt anyone.

OK Beachies. Blowing thru from my addiction Pinterest LUV!!!
How to explain? First I just saw that Time magazine has chosen them as one of the top new sites on the web for the year.
It's the coolest thing since sliced bread.
If you go to (never mind the link, I've removed it.... but my link is Pinterest and then my actual name with an underscore between my first and last names, if you don't know all of that and want to see what on earth I'm talking about, send me a PM and I'll give you the link) you can see my "boards" which are collages in a sense of cataloguing spots on the web.
For me it is a HUGE, GIGANTIC, ENORMOUS, VAST and AWESOME resource to create on behalf of my teaching friends and colleagues.
What I have done is create "boards" on themes that go with my books and songs. So I have one picture book called "Tall Giraffe"...... I start a 'giraffe collection' of ALL sorts of images that are on the web that have to do with giraffes: children's paintings, artwork, applique images -- whatever I can find. Then I 'pin' it to stay on that bulleting board.
In my case then I can direct teachers who have purchased my book to go to that collection and see dozens & dozens of ways that might prompt them to think of an art project or a snack to serve -- or a gazillion other giraffe ideas which might prompt them to teach more creatively on the topic of giraffes.
The even MORE amazing part is that when you double click on the image that has been 'pinned' then it takes you directly to the original source on the web. So if someone likes your photograph of a giraffe craft that they see that I've pinned/saved/shared -- then they might very likely go to the source to see who created the original idea & what other goodies they have up their sleeve.
People have created 'boards' for upcoming weddings -- so its one spot to keep the gazillion possible ideas that you might want to use at an upcoming wedding. Or gardens or "do-it-yourself tutorials" or quilt images that have a color scheme you like or birthday party invitations that are fun or or or or or or recipes that look tasty for Thanksgiving or yarn ideas to crochet or books you want to read or or or or or or...........................
I think I have now created about two dozen boards in this first week. You can put in a 'topic' to search their bank of previously pinned images/web articles and then you just 're-pin' something that has already been categorized by someone else.
It is a HUGE HUGE HUGE possibility for keeping your inspirations in one spot.
I've gotten all 3 of my books underway and quite a few of my songs now have collections.
Better post this..........
edited because I put the link in wrong
edited AGAIN hoping to get the link to work??
edited quite after the fact to remove any reference to my direct link..... I'm happy to share that with you in a PM

OK. I think the link works now.
You can see I've literally gone off the deep end with this.
I just counted and I have 16 of my songs underway. Now everytime I ever see an idea for ladybugs I have a place to keep it. This is the biggest deal going among teachers -- especially elementary/preschool, as so many of the ideas & inspirations are visual in nature.
I've been waiting all summer to get "in" to the system (that's a long dingy story) but you have to 'ask/apply' to get in. I had given them my 'real' email, but in that is a one of a kind email they didn't recognize/support it.
Once someone finally explained that to me I gave them a g-mail address and that worked fairly directly. Not immediately, but relatively sooner than later.
If anybody was a good cook I think this would be a perfect concept to keep all of the ideas in one place.
We are on the road. Halfway to the latest destination. Sat I get to deliver the keynote for a back-to-school conference. I am so OVER-THE-MOON about having these various ideas & inspirations into a format to share, to support people who have supported me & my work.
They/Pinterest has just gained the capacity to pin videos. This is in the last week or so. So they are seriously "growing" right before my eyes.
They have been laughing that people are now holding "Pinterventions" because it is so much fun/so addictive.
We could have a board of "beaches to visit" YUP. I better make one of those for all of us!!

OK. Just as an experiment,
I wonder what happens with photos posted here/BCO -- as it relates to Pinterest?
Will conduct experiments tomorrow in light of day.

wow! it took me MONTHS ok, days to learn how to post HERE.. i also have personal photos i wouldn't want "just" anyone to get into. someone warned us to press (something) on FB ( it was barbara a. ) so we could keep license to our personal photos. don't want pix of my GKids out just anywhere.. the rest i don't care about..
All you jersey/ philly girls, my prayers are with you, for Irene to leave you alone. she is gonna miss us; but i hope its' not too bad there. please do whatever they tell you to. SV has ignored the evacuation, and is stayin in obx.. prayers for her, for sure!.....3jays

Marie..............I wasn't down last weekend.........was there till a week ago Tuesday, and knew I wouldn't get down this past weekend..............had planned on going tonight, and staying till Sunday , but the decision was made to not go before they said "your not going"..............so all my stuff is out too.....trash cans, tables, chairs, grill, and the worst thing someone said if you have room a/c that the wind being that strong can blow the little panels that close off the sides of your a/c right out, and all the water can come in................great news......I have 3 a/c in windows..............hopefully nothing will act as a missal, and damage the glass dorrs or windows. I am concerned about the pool...........it has concrete all around, and if a tree hits it, or falls in, that too will be major damage................well girlfriend, we can't do anything about it, right ............just pray.................is there a Patron Saint for Hurricanes......doubt it. haha.............Good Lord I need a stiff drink....................and I don't drink............maybe this is a good time to start.............hugs dear..............
