So I wandered away while this page was loading.  Came back to the computer to chabba's flying bird photo, however, I didn't have my glasses on & I was quite aways from the computer & the picture was front & center & initially I thought it was a pegasus!  Until I got close enough that is.

It is an impressive shot.  We have a juvenile egret that comes to our pond.  It will be interesting to see him grow and morph to the great white heron.  I am trying to get pictures of him everyday.  I just hope he keeps coming back until he is grown.  We normally get blue herons here, but they are smaller than the one you got in your picture.  They nest every year not far from here and there is one Momma that brings her young to our pond every year and we get to watch them learn how to fish and grow.  They start out coming with Momma they she stays close by then she leave them to come alone.

AJ and Chabba my book tells me the great white heron is a color phase of the great blue..is that what you have?

Around here I've only seen the adults.  In Olympia I once saw what my co-worker who lived across the street from it called a colony tree, where dozens and dozens of them nested.  It may have been the wrong time of year for juveniles, though I do remember some smaller ones, but all the great blues I saw that day were blue.

    WOWOWOW!!! Lots to comment on........

Chrissy??? Are you on this side of the planet? WOW!

    Chabba so many great images.

This has been my husband's high school reunion weekend. Tonight was the dinner dance. Last night the bar hop mingle. It's been such fun!!! Tonight I met his girl friend from first grade..... she had such very specific memories of him & such great elementary school stories.

I only have one 'connection' from elem school days in my life, and that starts at 5th grade. I have two friends on FB that go back that far.

    Memory lane time.........................

Hope that everyone has a great weekend.

BTW: I swear I looked like a million bucks tonight. I found a red dress with sort of a halter-like top. It looks like someone designed it specifically for me & my body's "issues." I wore it with no undergarment up top..... was able to insert my fluffies and I swear it looked seriously awesome. The midriff was sort of scrunchie..... great camoflage for that area..... bell skirt to just above the knee.

    Pictures to follow.

I may wear this dress to every function for the next 100 years: church picnics, beach parties, grand-children graduations, every wedding on the horizon. LOL!!!! Every place that needed a 'fix' had it with draping or scrunching or flaring. Extra high arm pits to cover that nonsense. V neck but nothing low. Top clinging and never gaping.

If I knew who to thank I'd be writing a letter of heart felt appreciation.

May we all find the perfect garment for those occasions when we want to pull it together!

LOL: the price of the dress was $39.99 -- I kid you not!

Faith, a really good dressmaker should be able to copy that dress for you, fit and all.  In a totally different fabric it would look very different but still fabulous.

When I went to Tampa with BCO ladies in 2009 this guy was on our fishing dock all the time, hoping for handouts - which of course we gave him! We named him Harry. Whenever anyone was getting bait ready or cleaning fish they caught, we'd give Harry the leftovers. He'd come almost right to your hand.

The bird in the center of this picture is a frequent visitor to our campground's beach on the Delaware Bay. We have lots of the white herons there - never saw a blue one at the bay though.
