JShannon, that's why we're here. To help. I know how grateful I've been for this site and that's why I'm still here: good friends and to repay all the help given to me. Keep asking your questions and we'll gladly answer. (Thanks for making your info public).

Hi Peg: How are you doing? Were you able to check on your LE? Hoping that you are ok and feeling better. Thinking of you , Mik

Miko I'm feeling fine. Haven't called the MO yet. I'll do that Monday. The "problem" comes and goes. But it is annoying. Thanks!! Hope you're doing well!

JShannon-Im not sure if I just got lucky, but they took out my SN along with 3 others...and I have absolutely no issues. However, my BS was able to get the nodes thru the same 'massive battle scar' opening she used to get both my masses out too...so maybe that's why? I have no issues with armpit or anything...

Peggy, you might want to ask for a c-spine X-ray—several years ago, “squeezing” pain alternating with tingling and pain running down to the elbow was how I found out I have osteoarthritis of the cervical spine—the spurs in my vertebrae impinge on the ulnar & radial nerves. PT can help.

PEGG : i am so glad to hear that you are doing ok, hang in there ok? I am ok too, i have good and bad days. My armpit is a pain if it isn't hurting it is itchy. I have rash under my arm and on my breast from the plastic the surgeon used on my lx. I am taking antibiotics for a suspected infection as well. So, in the meantime I am just waiting for appts with mo and ro. I am pulling for you, keep up your positive vibes and your heartfelt efforts on this board.

Peggy, I also have problems all down my right arm due to trapped nerves in my neck. It's pretty easily controlled by stretching. But I was convinced the pain and weakness was caused by arthritis in my wrist, elbow and fingers. I got so I needed two hands to use a toothbrush, kept dropping things because my hands didn't work properly.
So I hope you have something similar and not LE, now I know what to do when it flares up, it is easily controlled. The stretches take only a few minutes a day. Hope you get good news tomorrow.

Sandy, that's a thought. Aside from the twinge in the bicep, most of my discomfort seems to be muscular plus tenderness, at times, down my left "bad" rib cage. I'll keep that mind.
Dizzy, Oh my heavens! Two hands to brush your teeth? How scary. Has it been treated?
Miko, that armpit stuff is a royal pain. I'm sorry you have a rash from the plastic. Luckily they didn't use plastic on me because I'm also allergic. Hope it all clears up quickly.

It's not as scary as it sounds! I didn't have proper strength in my elbow joint, so one hand was holding up the other elbow. I was totally convinced it was arthritis, my GP thought it might be tennis elbow, and my physiotherapist laughed and said she could tell already it was neither of those. If you have trapped nerves at the base of your neck, they also get trapped further down, so where they pass through the joints. So you could get symptoms like carpal tunnel syndrome, but also in your elbow and up the side of your face.
In my case it's probably postural, and made worse by the fact I sleep on my front which does bad things to the joints. When it starts to get bad again, its a reminder to do the exercises again. Because they're nerve stretches you don't do many repetitions and you don't hold the position, so it's quick.
I've only mentioned it because I was really worried when it was at its worst, because I thought it was going to be a permanent problem if it was arthritis, and it has been so treatable. So I have my fingers crossed for you that it's something as easily sorted.

tyty Pegg I still have the red streak that looks like a rash near the incision site but hopefully the antibiotics will help with that. I think the hardest is the irritation under my arm and the pinching feeling under my nipple where they took out the lump. Just want to recover so I can move on to radiation without symptoms.

Forthingay, you have time to get second opinions . Unless you have IBC you have time to talk to another surgeon . You will need a PS consult before mastectomy anyway . You need to probably have a snb prior or after mastectomy as well . They don't do snb during mastectomy . I have been through two mastectomies if you need anything or want to PM me .

Dizzybee...can you describe the stretches you do? I think I have the same problem....mine started before BC but has continued.
Thanks

Nash 54, I don't think I can explain well enough, but if you Google neural stretches for radial median and ulnar nerves you should find plenty of information.
I had several massage and ultrasound sessions before we moved on to the neural stretches, so please take care, take advice before you try anything!

Hello ladies. I'm just popping in to say hello and ask (on another thread) about Blue Point anastrozole. Teva brand is no longer available in my town, so my doc switched me to Blue Point. Anyone try Blue Point anastrozole?
Re: tingling in arm. I, too, was told it was nerves in my neck/clavicle area, and I do stretches. Put arms down at sides and lift up fingers and hands like you are a fairy. (Cute visual, huh?) Then, lower your left shoulder down while gently stretching your head to the right. Do the same thing on the other side. You should do this several times a day. But, to see if it helps your tingling, do it when it's tingling or numb and see if it helps. Then, you'll know if it works or not. All you are doing is helping to un-bunch the nerves.
Any new news? Everyone doing okay? Peggy, how are you?

Sloan, that's crap that your pharmacy won't get Teva. Probably not a preferred provider. I haven't heard of Blue Point so no thoughts on it. Good luck. I'm doing fine. Put up some Christmas decorations yesterday. Lots of stretching which is probably good. I'll call both my MO and PCP tomorrow and try to get in quickly. Peace of mind is a very good thing. Nice to know about the tingling you had. Mine wasn't tingling. More like a pinprick. Oh well.

Peggy, hope the issue doesn't return! It's scary not knowing what is causing something. I guess issues can still pop up any time can't they?
It's been a great Thanksgiving weekend. Went today with friends, family, and 3 of my little grandsons to a dinner Christmas production that was really fun. The kids all go up on stage at the end with Santa and Mrs. Claus and get pictures. And it's a really good Santa and Mrs C!
I'm a little worried that my skin is beginning to react with the radiation. I've had 13 of 37 tx but I have a raised up rash that itches constantly where the breast is radiated. I'm using aqua for and miaderm. Hope it's not a sign of things to come!
Hope you all are recovering or enjoying the weekend.

Dara, that's so cute that the kids got to go up on stage with Santa & Mrs. Claus!! Be sure to talk to your RO right away about your redness/itchiness. Want to keep on top of it. You might consider Benadryl for the itchy - either pills or creme IF you RO approves. Definitely slather on the Aquaphor. Hope it goes away. Fingers crossed.

Dara , your RO will prescribe something , mine was steroid cream. Worked really well .

I was diagnosed with LCIS and I had a lumpectomy last year in March. So far everything has been good. but now they are saying there is fluid in my breast and I have had some psin in the surgical area, not to mention when my nipples get bumped it really hurts.
What coyld this be and what can I do? I do not go back to the cancer center until January, should I call them?

BlessedGirl, Welcome! You've come to the right place! We're warm, welcoming and informative. Who diagnosed fluid in your breast? Since you have pain, I would recommend calling your BS. No fun hurting when you get bumped. It's probably nothing but you'll feel better with an answer. Please let us know what you find out.

Peggy ...glad your doing better hope it just goes away.
Dara...sounds like a fun time ....they are going to always remember getting on stage with Santa.
BlessedGirl...Welcome! I am not much help since I am just a little over 2 weeks since my lumpectomy. I bumped my darn boob a few times now and that was painful enough.
JShannon.... Welcome ...we had our surgery the same day and I can't imagine having to have another one soon. I had 2 lymph noids removed during my surgery. Keep us posted.

SHOCK! I called my MO's office at 1:10 this afternoon to have my possible LE checked out. I'm seeing him at 2PM today! Who gets in that quickly? Ever?? Not me. I'm impressed.

Wow! That is great, Peggy.

Happy post Thanksgiving everyone,
I have been off the chat for some time, but now getting anxious about the next step so I come home to all of you.
My concerns and questions..... my lympectomy was October 10 and my strips finally came off Nov 19. I am still somewhat tender and a hard small area where stitches were. I have some pinkness also
QUESTIONs does all my pain need to go away before radiation.
I am being recruited for a new job, do I need to tell them. I am thinking I can schedule radiation around a new job.
If I wait until after the holidays for radiation is that a problem....I do know I need to go see the doctor now.
I do need to start exercising now however I am feeling unmotivated.
I think I am depressed about starting radiation. Some have told me it is not bad, but I couldn't do the MRI so I hope it is nothing like that.
Hope you are all doing well and staying strong. I think I may have not been on here as I am avoiding facing this.
You all are the greatest.
Positive Linda

Linda, for your radiation you need to be able to hold your arms above your head for 10 minutes or so. Try it in bed and see how it feels. You should be able to be fairly comfortable by now. MRIs are something else. I really wouldn't compare the two.
Sue and Molly, had a great appointment. I may have a touch of lymphedema but there's no swelling. He said (and was the first to say this) that since I had 5 nodes removed, I had a Level 1 Axillary Dissection, not a SNLB. Even though 2 of those nodes came along for the ride and weren't intentional. So I will have a slightly elevated risk for LE. I'm to especially be alert for cellulitis and to see him at the first signs. But he thinks all my fleeting and moving discomforts are related to my surgery AND to my nerves still misfiring - even after 2 years. Apparently one of those wonderful gifts that BC keeps giving. He was extremely reassuring. Mind you this is only the 2nd time I've seen him. And I love him. He took a lot of time with me and I came away feeling extremely relieved.
Sue, I too love Providence. I asked my son (who works on software used by hospitals and health providers) which was the best and this is the one he recommended. My MO is not going to be coming to the office near me after the first of the year so I will have to travel about 30 minutes to see him. I could see others in his practice but I'm so happy with him that I don't want to change. The drive will be worth it. I got very lucky when I chose him.
Thanks everyone for all the good thoughts - they obviously helped.
HUGS!

blessedgirl - if it's only for peace of mind go get it checked out.
I also have been diagnosed with LCIS & ALH and I know the worst thing is the waiting, the Unknown & feeling like your in limbo. The advice I was given is regular breast checks & monitoring, and if at all there is a concern get it checked.
Don't put yourself through the agony of waiting, remember for us with LCIS its early prevention or detection is the key

Hey everybody, i'm going for a lumpectomy and lift this Thursday! I say that with glee, because i finally received my genetic test results, and i have neither the BRCA1 nor BRCA2 mutation. (If i did, i'd planned to ask for a nipple-sparing mastectomy instead).
Pre-op appointment tomorrow morning. I hope they say i can take a half a lorazepam (Ativan) tablet before i go for surgery. Makes everything better! Highly recommended. I only use them for MRIs and such, but wow what a difference. Just a calm, chipper version of me, with a clear mind.
Anyone else getting a breast lift with lollipop incision during their lumpectomy surgery? Six months after radiation they are going to lift the other side to match. (I don't like the scars i'll have, but the alternative was a bigass dent in my upper boob.)
Best wishes, everyone

Peggy - Hurray for great doctors. Glad you got some answers. Interesting about your nodes. I had 5 removed as well. Worth discussing with my MO next month
