I have a friend who lives in Christchurch, where they had the horrifying earthquakes a few years ago. Her cat would stop, look up at the ceiling, and within a minute, there would be an aftershock. So, my friend and her mother got into the habit of ducking under tables, etc., whenever Finnigan would look at the ceiling. So one day, they're under the dining room table, Finnie is still looking at the ceiling, and no after shock. My friend cautiously crawled out and looked up - Finnie was studying a spider on the ceiling. So yeah, cats are not great earthquake predictors.
