oh, good, I get to use the word I wanted after westernize but couldn't as it changed 5 letters. :-)
homogenize

Glad you could use the word you were saving!! It took me a minute to think how you got from moderation to homogenize, but it works!!

vulcanized
When I need inspiration, I write the letters in rows of consonants and vowels. So moderation becomes
MDRTN
OEAIO
Then I noodle around until I find a word (e.g., amortizing) that works within the rules (i.e., can change up to 4 letters in the 10-letter word game).

annualized
I like the way you laid that out. I kind of turn the words or syllables inside out or look for syllables that I can reuse. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it takes a long time! Especially when the word that comes to mind doesn't have enough letters!!! Thanks!

fantasized
Yep, I do that, too: what words end with -ized? It's good for the brain!

Couldn't come up with another "ized" that fit so changed the z to an x and ta-da!!
