Well, Vance (I read) is a 'recent' convert and I think he just couldn't pass up the op-ed he desired. I'm sure the Pope and many others knew exactly what was behind the visit, but ah, what's a good heathen to do if they don't put the squeeze on when they can. Also, Vance — master at bad timing. Maybe he should change is name - again. He needs some kind of help.

I would say it's exactly what the GOP is doing to the Constitution. But instead of circling and protecting it, they're all presenting their poop-shoots to deploy.

The interesting thing, in my mind at least, is that some of the interests that trump has enabled are in conflict with each other in terms of ideologies and goals . At one point, I imagine quite the power struggle might ensue.

miriandra: Just goes to prove that elephants are more intelligent than any given republican on a good day. They execute the alert maneuver to protect their young from any perceived threat and I saw this in Kenya and in Tanzania when the maternal herds circle their young.
Shame the republicans do not wish to protect the Constitution that they all took an oath to preserve.
