Betrayal, are you hearing of or would you have any educated guesses who might be on the ballot for PA’s Senate next year to fill Toomey’s spot? Do you think a Democrat can win the seat? Being practically next door in Ohio and with a son in PA, I am interested in what’s going on and I always have my son’s ear about who to consider voting for.

Divine: There are a number who will throw their hats into the ring including some repugnicans and there are a few Democrats whose names are being bandied including the current Lt. Governor and a physician who is involved with the vaccine rollout. I think we might be able to fill the seat with a Democrat.

AliceBastable - The shingles shot was a killer. The doc didn't warn me. There are two shots 4 weeks apart. The first one, my arm was so painful for about 3 days, and for about 6 days I was achy and feverish. I took ibuprofen to get rid of the side effects. The second shot all I had was a sore arm, but with moving your arm around in circles or up and down, you move the vaccine out of the muscle and the pain goes away much faster!

So today I go get my nails done. She is in a neighboring county, of which is a very red trumpie county. I love the job she does, and we love to talk, so it's fun too.
She is in a small hair salon, so you can hear everyone's conversations. The hairdresser is on the other side of an open doorway talking to a couple of women about COVID. Apparently she lost a client to COVID and was saying that when the lady was in the hospital they wanted to put her on a ventilator and she resisted. They talked her husband into it and she ended up dying on the respirator. The woman had heart issues and "apparently the ventilator made it worse". Then they go on about how the government gives hospitals medicine that causes you to get worse and go on a respirator. "They get paid for every person on a respirator"
Holy crap! My eyes got huge when my nail girl looked at me. I'm not sure if she agreed, but she knows now that I don't. I had never actually heard someone speak those words, just online jibberish. UNBELIEVABLE the things people swallow!

Similar story. Had my yard cleaned out today. Young guy, probably mid 30. Did a fantastic job. Had some questions about future work. Said he hadn’t gotten the vax. Why? I’m healthy don’t need it. I tried, but don’t think I convinced him. Hope he’s around for the future work.
Glad the Cali governor won. Can’t imagine having a trumper there.

The first meme about Reps. and the recall is spot on. In fact their orange president gave them lots of spending examples just in case they ever slowed down. They are good at 'breaking' the bank.
As to how the other side talks -- it is quite eyebrow raising. My Dh was telling me about what his brother said the other day about Dr. Fauci and how you couldn't trust or believe him. Well, he trusted and believed him enough to get his covid vaccinations. Of course, he did have his leukemia ( in remission ) Dr. tell him he was pushing fate and taking a risk by not doing the vaccinations. Still, it was pretty transparent that he wanted to " follow" the current Reps. party line. He also obviously does not care to become a Reps. sacrifice. It is why I've been lukewarm about my BIL's for many yrs. It does bother me that they are such 'strong' Reps. The part I really dislike though is how wrong they feel they have to make me for choosing to be a Democrat. Fortunately ( and its been that way for some time ) I can choose and wonder why they are bothered that I don't want to be a liar, cheat, power hungry scoundrel who doesn't care what they have to stoop to in order to win.

1 in 500 Americans Have Died of COVID-19
Sept. 15, 2021 -- The U.S. has passed another sad milestone in the pandemic: Now, 1 in every 500 Americans have died of COVID-19 since the country's first reported infection last year.
As of Tuesday night, nearly 664,000 people in the U.S. had died from the coronavirus, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In April 2020, the U.S. population was 331.4 million, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
That means .2% of the U.S. population has died of COVID-19. Half of those deaths have occurred since Christmas 2020, according to USA Today.
COVID-19 deaths have increased due to the more contagious Delta variant, with the number of average daily deaths nearly tripling during the past month, CNN reported. Hospitals are running out of beds and struggling to handle the increase in COVID-19 patients.
As of last week, the U.S. reported more COVID-19 cases in 2021 than in 2020, USA Today said. During the past month alone, the country has recorded 4.3 million new cases and more than 40,000 deaths.
Public health officials are calling for the remaining 75 million eligible Americans who haven't yet received a shot to get vaccinated. Unvaccinated people are 11 times more likely to die from COVID-19, compared to those who are fully vaccinated, according to a new CDC study.
"Looking at the cases over the past 2 months when the Delta was the predominant variant circulating in this country, those who were unvaccinated were about 4.5 times more likely to get COVID-19, over 10 times more likely to be hospitalized, and 11 times more likely to die from the disease," CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, MD, said during a COVID-19 news briefing.

Some one mentioned ( I think on a news program ) that this sort of thing is going to go on for a long time because as it stands, the Reps. just are going to be hard pressed of actually win elections now. They have decimated their own numbers, and are being thrown under the bus every time Trump opens his mouth, or he just says enough stupid things to void whatever progress they might have made. Sept. 15, 2021 -- About 1 in 7 Americans have ended friendships during the past year due to divided views over COVID-19 vaccines, according to a new survey.
The survey of 1,000 Americans, which was conducted by OnePoll on Sept. 2, examined why people have ended friendships throughout the pandemic. Overall, about 16% of people had nixed three friendships since March 2020.
Among those who ended a friendship, 66% were vaccinated and 17% said they didn't plan to receive a shot. About 14% -- or 1 in 7 -- vaccinated people said they dropped friends who refused to get a shot.
"A vast majority of vaccinated people (97%) consider their ex-friends to be 'full-blown anti-vaxxers' and said they could never get them to understand the importance of the vaccine," OnePoll wrote about the survey results.
"Many unvaccinated people said it was a personal choice because they're worried about potential side effects," OnePoll wrote. "Others said they're healthy and don't need the vaccine, while some expressed distrust."
The survey found other reasons why friendships broke up, whether people were vaccinated or not. About 16% dropped friendships due to different political views.
They survey also looked at the political differences among the survey respondents and their views about COVID-19 vaccines. About 81% of Democrats were fully vaccinated, as well as 64% of Republicans, 69% of independents, and 41% of third-party supporters.
About 7% of Democrats said they didn't get vaccinated, along with 23% of Republicans, 20% of independents, and 27% of third-party supporters.
"Surprisingly, many Democrats (41%) feel society is too critical of unvaccinated people, and over half of Republicans (57%) echo that sentiment," OnePoll wrote. "However, 12% of Democrats and 5% of Republicans disagree society is harsh on unvaccinated people."
Overall, 61% of vaccinated people said they felt "very confident" in their decision to get vaccinated, the survey found. About 33% said the same about not getting vaccinated.

I have always been healthy too, until I got sick with something. I must be missing something here. I thought whether you were something of sickly sort or well sort didn't necessarily have a lot to do with covid. If you do the preventative things you have a good chance of remaining well ( from covid ) even if you are frequently sick. I guess I'm wondering where did these people get the information that if your REALLY healthy that you could do w/o a vaccine.
In the case of these healthy people I'd wonder why they wouldn't be highly interested in doing more to preserve that health. Refusing a vaccine seems quite counter. Especially in that should you get ill your chances of having a pretty good outcome would be greatly enhanced. Well, sounds like just another excuse to me.
Today I went to my satellite V.A. clinic for a blood draw and EKG. The nurse that did my EKG and I had a long conversation. She was just as perplexed why many in the 'medical' field have not as yet gotten vaccinated or say they don't plan too. She is working now where she is after having to give up a position she had for 11 yrs. with an exceptional heart and lung Dr. The reason she had to give it up was due to her covid and the long range damage it did to her lungs. She could no longer keep up in this interesting, but very fast paced field with this busy Dr. She was very honest in her feelings and very hurt that the negligence of others ended not her working career, but her ability to work where she was happiest. I won't repeat all she said but will just say it was certainly not complimentary to a great many of the Reps.

If only we could say the Republican Party is close to its demise. I fear it will not be so. This trend started with the Tea Party nuts and the Moral Majority kooks. Why has this 'christian' influence become so prominent? These people are no more Christian in the sense of what Christ taught than some random person off the subway. This kind of crazy will become the stories in history books 40 years from now - how all these superstitious cult people rejected science. It makes the witch trials look sane.

Jackie, that is such an excellent and perplexing statement! They think they would be tempting fate by getting the vaccine and we think they are tempting it by not getting it.
