Just read in my newsfeed that Richard Belzer passed away. He was 78. I was surprised to learn that he started his career many, many yrs. ago as a comedienne. I fell in love with his acting actually on the first "Law and Order" show. RIP.

One of the other people on that show (or maybe its spin-off " Special Victims Unit " is in Congress now and that is Sheldon Whitehouse.

Richard Belzer actually created his John Munch role in Homicide: Life in the Street shot in Baltimore and rolled it over into Law and Order. He actually died in February 2023.

Andre Braugher also started in this program (Life on the Streets), played several guest roles on L & O and he just died from lung cancer. I met Andre in Fells Point in Baltimore's Inner Harbor and asked if I could take his picture since I admired him as an actor. He asked the friend he was with to take a picture of both of us together. He was really quite pleasant to talk to and I admired him even more for being so kind.

John Schneider was in the Dukes of Hazzard and has been quite vocal about his hatred of Dems. He's a nut job.

Richard Belzer passed away almost a year ago, February 2023. He was a great believer in conspiracy theories, particularly the Kennedy assassination and a guest on Alex Jones’ show (🤮).

Guess I am going to have to check some of my news feed. Most are good and I get things at the right time. Well, I do miss the actors and the shows (there are reruns) but I don't watch anymore. At the time we saw them each time they were on, and it was a part of our nightly routine to have certain shows till news time. We don't watch tv like that now.

Love the gifts, miriandra and wish someone could give them to me. I would like to ask for one more related to "all the time…", I would like to have the strength/ability to do all the things I want to do. I seem to have lost some of that with aging and I dearly miss it. What a wonderful meme so thank you.

If you can’t change everything all at once, then at least work on changing
something each day.  Become aggressive in your battle with the ego.
You probably don’t need all the things that it wants.  You need hope,
discipline, creative expression, love, and serenity—these are the important
things.  Remember, when you are balanced, one stepping stone
will lead you to the next.  But you will rarely see the whole journey
or all the answers at once.

Miriandra, that is a fantastic meme and thank you. Like Betrayal, I do wish I could have all the time more strength, concentration and the ability organize as I once did. I talk to all animals and never mind if I have to sometimes imagine some of their answers back.

This goes especially when I've tried to correct a 'behavior'. I've sworn my dog said, "yeah, when pigs fly". But never-the-less, it is a beautiful sentiment and I'm glad you found it and shared. There is always hope for us in our friends who have the kindness to share. Thank You.

Lovely sentiment and so true. You can never measure what your gesture, good or bad, has on another but if we practice kindness, we enrich two lives.

I agree with the sentiment, too. I do try act out of kindness. And I have to say, there are many times when others show me a small kindness that touches my heart. It can be as simple as an overworked store clerk who stops what they’re doing and helps me find an item on the shelf I can’t locate. I think to myself, “wow, this person is so busy and could just blow me off but instead they’ve chosen to make my day a little easier.” I’m so appreciative of kindness sent in my direction.

I was at a Dollar store the other day and the lines to check out were long. When I finally got to the cashier she had the most beautiful curly red hair. She was efficient and didn't seem harried at all. I told her I thought she had the most beautiful hair and I envied her her curls. She lit up and told me I had just made her day and at that point I realized she had felt harried by the number of customers. Not trying to toot my own horn here, but just to point out that small kindnesses do matter. She smiled, took a deep breath, her shoulders dropped as she relaxed and she then handled the next customer. Kindness does matter.

Ladies, I am in tears from the beauty of the meme and your descriptive and heartfelt additions after Ruth put it in here. Kindnesses don't hurt anyone, and they do magnify us. We can have nothing of any consequence but a smile for someone else, a compliment, and just walking with an older person till they get to their car safely. Little things can make all the difference. If you wish to receive you will have to give. Karma knows something will come back to you. I feel so satisfied when I am allowed to know I was able to help someone. It is not that we have to know — but once in a while when you do it helps encourage these good behaviors to continue.

Some of our days get harried and otherwise a bit chaotic and we can forget that most people are doing the best they can. I am so much richer because I just came back to check if anyone else had posted. What beautiful gifts were waiting here for me to find. Hugs and care to all.

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. -Calvin Coolidge
