Mammogram ultra missed polyp mri now scheduled

At this point I’m just hungry for support. Saw aereola changes last July while moving to a new state. Saw Md in September and received immediate mammogram and diagnostic ultrasound for palpable small polyp underneath areola. Results only showed very dense breast tissue. I should’ve known, but didn’t do the research about sensitivity of those tests till I realized how much it was hurting. MRI now scheduled one month out. Doctor will do an ultrasound again next week, putting the probe directly over the aereola. Then probably biopsy. I didn’t tell her and only realized when it woke me up last night that my ribs on that side hurt too. I fear it is too late.

Hi @lesandelk , I'm sorry that you have the worry of waiting for an MRI, ultrasound and possible biopsy. We sometimes imagine the worst when we have symptoms but, as the saying goes, don't borrow worry. The odds are good that nothing will be found. Even if there is a malignancy breast cancer grows very slowly and is treatable. Sore ribs can be caused by many things other than cancer. Try to stay away from google and distract yourself with other activities until you have the procedure and get results. Come back and let us know how it goes. All the best.

I think everything you are feeling right now is quite normal and typical - this is scary stuff that triggers anxiety on a deep primitive level (at least that's how I understand it).
Really try not to borrow trouble! If trouble is coming for you, IT will find YOU (as long as you show up for the diagnostics, which you are). Hopefully it is a benign polyp and the rib pain is either stress related or unrelated, and you will get some relief for both.
Hang in there!
