Hi lnw9616! Wanted to wish you an easy surgery and recovery. I was diagnosed with right sided ILC, 6cm, ER/PR+/HER2-. I’m scheduled for surgery (unilateral MX). I have a plastics consult next week to discuss reconstruction options. I feel the same. So very nervous, but want things to move faster. I got my diagnosis on 1/22/25. What kind of reconstruction (if any) have you opted for?

    Hi

Wanted to wish everyone an easy surgery and recovery. I am 73 yrs "young". Diagnosed with IDC, ER/PR+/HER2-, right sided in 2022. Underwent lumpectomy, clean margins. 2023 recurrence in same breast - underwent another lumpectomy. six months later, they found another tumor in same breast, went to get it biopsied, but they could not find it. Two weeks ago went in again to do ultrasound and sure enough it had doubled in size and they did a same day biopsy. Same cancer. Saw my surgeon two days ago and she recommended bilateral mastectomy with Goldilock flaps.

Anyone out there done this? What to expect?

Hi Yomamma716, I am having the tissue expanders put in place and then will have an exchange surgery at a later date. What about you?

@lnw9616 Im not sure yet. I have a plastics consult on 3/20. I’ll get all my options and then make a decision as surgery is scheduled for 4/9. So many decisions to make, it sometimes feels so overwhelming.

@lnw9616 I hope your surgery went well and that you are home recovering. I had my plastics consult and I will be having immediate implant placement because I'm going for a significantly smaller size. I was not a candidate for DIEP, which is what I was hoping for.

  • My surgery is May 1. DCIS, right breast, lymph node biopsy and reconstruction (reduction and lift on left side for symmetry). I have a few tops that button in the front, including pjs. I am stocking up on good sources of protein to help with recovery and the plastic surgeon recommended Vitamin A after surgery. I believe I wear 1 sports bra out of the hospital and 1 additional. Another other suggestions for 'must haves'?

    Thank you.

    Hi All,

Am 4 days after double mastectomy and Goldilocks flap procedure. Only stayed 1 night in hospital. Recovery is slow but am trying to be patient. I just cannot sleep anywhere - be it a recliner or adjustable bed. Have always been a side sleeper. My left side is constantly pinching. Do not have an appetite at all but try to drink protein shakes. Pain is not too bad at all. Have not used opioids, just Tylenol.

    Good luck to all
