Should I stop HRT

Options

I started HRT at the beginning of December. I have an Estradiol patch and which I change every 4 days abd 200mg Utrogestan daily.

I went for a mammogram and the results were “Small apparent non-specific density”

I have to go back for more imaging and potentially a biopsy.

Should I stop the HRT?

Hi @al0nenz and welcome to Breastcancer.org. We're so very sorry for the worries that bring you here, but we're glad you've come for support - we're here for you.

Have you talked to the radiologist about what the results of your mammogram mean? Have you also talked to your doctor about your HRT use? Here's some good information to consider: https://www.breastcancer.org/risk/risk-factors/using-hormone-replacement-therapy

We're sending good thoughts for your follow up imaging! Please let us know what you find out.

Best thing is to check with your doctor before stopping HRT. A “non-specific density” doesn’t necessarily mean anything dangerous, sometimes it’s just dense tissue or a cyst, especially early on in HRT when your body’s adjusting to the hormones

But since you’re on estrogen and progesterone, your team might want to review things depending on what the follow-up shows. They’ll look at your risk factors, mammogram results, and symptoms before deciding if any changes are needed
