Focal architectural distortion

Hi All, i need some advice to help me stop from spiralling out of control. Thanks in advance for your guidance.
I am 40 years old. My screening mammogram identified a focal asynmetry (BI RADS 0) in my left breast. The followup diagnostic mammogram said focal architectural distortion 12 o clock centrally 5 cm from the nipple. Bi rads 4. Ultrasounsld was normal.
I have a biopsy appointment in 2 weeks. The wait is interminable and nerve wracking.
Radiologist described the distortion as sun flare and chances are 50-50. I dont know what to make of any of this. I did read through the forums. But I am feeling disoriented from all the facts. Pls help!
Few things to note:
I had a breast injury in my left breast when I was pre-puberty ( i ran into a pole) which caused a lot of pain for many months and resulted in my left breast being underdeveloped through puberty. It also produced significantly less milk compared to right. It is now more or less normal in size and shape.
I have a paternal aunt who may have had breast cancer

Hi @krithi, I'm sorry you are dealing with the stress of waiting for a biopsy. A breast injury is usually irrelevant when it comes to developing breast cancer. Imaging can't tell whether cancer is present so that is why a biopsy needs to be done. The classification BIRADS4 means the chance of malignancy is anywhere from 5% to 95% so that doesn't tell you very much. Try to keep busy while you wait to keep your mind off it but that is more easily said than done. I hope your biopsy is benign. All the best.

Hi Krithi,
I know it’s stressful, went through it last March with similarities. Biopsies & then lumpectomy found 2 large radial scars ((nothing to do with scarring just the way they look on imaging) also referred to as sclerosing lesions. Neither being cancerous just raising my risk a bit so they a keep a closer watch. Holding you in my thoughts. Please let me know how it goes.

I hit end by accident. You’re not alone. You’re in my thoughts for a quick treatment plan & back to what you enjoy before you know it.

Hi @krithi, I’m sorry that the biopsy found DCIS. It’s not unusual to feel overwhelmed but once you have a treatment plan things get better. It’s good that you have an appointment with the surgeon so soon. Hopefully everything will go as smoothly as possible. All the best going forward.
