Local reoccurrence tnbc
33, currently just discovered a local reoccurrence 10 months after dmx and 6 months after finishing chemo. First presented as fat necrosis/oil cyst but grew.
Looking for treatment plans and stories of people who have gone through this successfully with no further occurrence.
Looking for hope so scared. Waiting on mri and pet results my docs think this is localized.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this so soon after finishing treatment, and at such a young age. I'm an 8 year survivor of triple negative and it is a scary diagnosis.
Like you, I had a bilateral mastectomy and a lot of chemo. I didn't do radiation. It looks like you didn't either, so that may be a treatment option. Another one, if you haven't done it already, would be Xeloda (capecitabine). It's an oral chemo that's great at mopping up leftover cancer cells in triple negative patients. Weirdly enough, another option is Metformin. It's a diabetes drug that helps to prevent reoccurance, but it seems to only work on triple negative.
Good luck. I hope the scans are negative for anything other than a small, local reoccurance. Sending a virtual hug.

Hi @kikimham,
We're so very sorry to hear that you're dealing with this, and so soon after finishing treatment. We are sending big hugs to you and hopes that this is just a small bump in your road that your doctors can knock out in no time. Keep us posted with what the treatment plan is and how you're doing.
