Phesgo vs. H&P side effects

Hello all,

I’m interested in hearing from others who’ve been on both Phesgo and H&P. Specifically, I’d like to know if you experienced more fatigue and worse side effects with Phesgo.

I was dx’d in 2018 Stage IV de novo and did 6 rounds of Taxotere and H&P. I’ve been on maintenance treatment since then and have completed around 120 H&P or Phesgo treatments. I switched to Phesgo when it was initially offered, but switched back to H&P pretty quickly because I felt fatigue was much worse with the shot. Last October, I was switched back to Phesgo due to the IV shortage. I tried to stick with it until now because it’s convenient, but my fatigue and other side effects became debilitating. I really didn’t feel like myself anymore.

I switched back to IV and it’s only a couple days since treatment, but I’m pretty confident I made the right decision. My oncologists insist the side effects are similar. The clinical data shows about 5% more patients experience fatigue with the shot vs. IV.

I’m genuinely curious to hear about others’ experiences with Phesgo vs. H&P, but also to make others that may be struggling with Phesgo aware of my experience.

I did not suffer fatigue when I switched to Phesgo, but I did feel like those minor Herceptin side effects which had subsided, came back again. Those were the itchy skin and constant runny nose/watery eyes like I had at the beginning of Herceptin IV.

I was also getting a reaction at the injection site (I’ve described it in other posts here) if the injection was given at the top of the thigh like the literature recommends the nurses do. Redness and and even stiffness of the muscle….this did not happen when I was injected on the side of the leg.

Glad to hear you are feeling better now with IVs.

  • @olma61 Yes, my nose has literally been running for 7 years. Itching seems to come and go!
