Looking to talk to a woman who has been through a mastectomy, chemotherapy AND radiotherapy
I'm actually reaching out on behalf of a friend.
His partner has had a mastectomy, and has been through a treatment of chemotherapy.
Doctors are now heavily encouraging her to undergo a course of radiotherapy. My friend, based on his own research, and his knowledge of his partner's unique situation, is quite strongly of the feeling that radiotherapy is not the best course of action, based on the risk and reward of the situation.
His partner is understandably scared and is more inclined to take the 'advice' of the doctors.
My friend is desperately seeking a woman (or ideally more than one) who has been through a mastectomy, chemo, and radio, AND who would be willing to talk to my friend and his partner, to share their experience, and help my friend and his partner get on the same page at this most difficult time.
Time is rather of the essence as the prescribed course of radiotherapy could begin some time at the start of next month.
If you would be willing to talk to my friend, or if you know someone who might, please send me a private message - he would be so grateful.
I would of course be happy to talk to you first to establish contact and continuity.
Thanks so much,
Sevan

@sevan7, we are sorry for the worries that have led you to our Community, but we do applaud you for supporting your friend and his partner as they navigate her breast cancer diagnosis and treatment plan. Our moderated Zoom support meetups would be a wonderful resource for your friends if they are hoping to speak with others who have undergone, or are currently going through radiation therapy. The following discussion link may also be helpful for them to visit, as well: Radiation Therapy - Before, During, and After.

I went through all of that: chemo, then mastectomy, then radiotherapy. You can send me a private message.
I can talk about my experience only. My mastectomy surgery revealed a lot more cancer than expected, and also that it had not been greatly affected by the chemo, hence the radiation reccommendation.

Hi @sevan7 just checking in to make sure you'd seen @laughinggull 's response. How else can we help?

Oh, actually I didn't! I assumed I would get an email notification if I got any replies but I don't think I did. Thanks so much for your care in this matter! I'll follow up now…

I went through chemo (didn't work), then BX then radiation. I had 16/18 positive so I did radiation. I think radiation is the next step to minimize any further recurrence. I had a large area radiated, I went the full course. Was it pleasant? no. But nothing about cancer or treatment is. I was given pain meds when I needed them, and radiation comes to an end. It gave me an added layer of confidence.
I'd be happy to speak with the woman and her partner. I feel odd talking about other peoples medical conditions.

I had all 3 as well back in 2020-2021. I would be happy to talk to your friend. Just send me a message.
