Radiation

I am sure this has been gone over, but I am really scared about radiation, I have heard horrible stories of 2 years later having a half a breast, has anyone else experienced this feeling or anyone can enlighten me and how do you get over it? My surgeon did a amazing job of filling in the holes of where both cancers sat. my margins are all clear no nodes cancer, DCIS stage 3 and stage 1. TIA

  • I can understand your fear of radiation after hearing horrible stories. I’ll tell you my 2 experiences. First was 10 years ago, DCIS, 35 treatments. I remember being tired and had one tiny, really tiny, sore from where my bra rubbed. It was a piece of cake experience. Second time was just this summer. I anticipated the worst but had very little effects. Tired, a little redness, one 1 inch spot that looked like a minor burn. Would I do it again if I had to? Absolutely. We always hear the horror stories because I think most people don’t have many issues to discuss. Good luck and let us know how you’re doing.
