CA27-29 elevation

I am 11 year survivor and just has an elevation to 42 from 30 on the CA 27-29. I have to wait 4 weeks for new bloodwork. I am so nervous. Anyone have a similar experience.

Hi @alice57 , just popping in to bump your post. That kind of wait can feel endless, and you’re definitely not alone in feeling nervous. Has anything changed since you got the result, or are you just stuck waiting for the repeat labs? Hopefully others who’ve had CA 27-29 ups and downs will chime in soon. Let us know how you're doing.

@alice57 Hi My CA 27-29 was a steady 25 26, for 13 years. I had left mastectomy, 18 nods removed, chemo and radiation., along with 6 month regular follow ups and lab blood tests with my Oncologist. I really believed I was “cancer free” after 13 years. Then Oncologist called me one night to ask me to get in as soon as Possible for Scans because my CA 27-29 jumped from 26 to 84. Bone Pet CT MRI from head to pelvis were done and all confirmed Mets to my bone in Thoracic & lumbar Spine, 2 ribs front & bck,, hips sacrum tailbone sternum & mediastinal area behind the clavicle.😳Iwent back on chemo Verzenio pills , and monthly Fasoldex, and XGeva injections and monthly follow ups, and scans every 3 months or so. I was diagnose Stage IV in January 2023 and have been stable since. I am currently going for Pallatiave radiation for th pain from a new met in my Astebulum bone in my hip and groin area for 10 days So i guess you could say I’m a cancer survivor since 2009 stage IIIA and still fighting cancer for 15 years now stage IV. My Oncologist has me on a good chemo cocktail of meds to keep the cancer at bay from spreading to other organs. Thes drugs came out in 2017. and since then women have been given extra years with their families. After all this I am very pro tumor marker tests like the CA 27-29. it might be a good idea to watch you numbers and go for scans. i hope this helps🩵💕🌷

  • My CA 27 29 is 3429. I had breast cancer 12 years ago and this yar in March my cancer marker went up to 169. Since than I was on Ibrance and Letrozole and didn't work for me. Now I'm on Enhertu and the cancer marker went down only from 3890 to 3429. Did anyone have such high numbers?

@leyooesh Hey there. White such high numbers, has your oncologist ordered scans for you to look for Mets progressions? If you are regularly seeing an Oncological team you can ask if they could scan to see if you have had traveling tumor cells in your blood that have taken hold in any other organs? My primary tumor cells hid out in my bones and now I have bone metastases. At least I my Mets are stable in my bones and have not shown up to other organs like brain lungs liver etc. I would encourage you to have a conversation with your Oncologist and if your meds are working to keep cancer at bay. Take good care.🩵🌷
