I was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) in July this year and underwent breast-conserving surgery a little over a month ago. My wound healing is not going very well. Because the lesion was very close to the nipple, the chief surgeon announced about ten days after the surgery that the nipple could not be saved.…
I did get an appointment cancellation and had stereotactic biopsy yesterday on September 2nd. Today I received the news that I have DCIS grade 2 triple positive. I am getting a referral to a great oncology surgeon and thinking about having a mastectomy. Any thoughts on that route?
please let me know your experience with this

I've done a lot of research and am comfortable with my decision based on my pathology and low Oncotype score. I will have monitoring twice a year, once w GYN & mammogram and once w BS & ultrasound, so should anything change…
I'm interested in hearing from people who did not have radiation or hormone therapy after a lumpectomy for DCIS
