Mastectomy or 3rd try
I was diagnosed with grade 3 DCIS in April. I had a partial mastectomy, 3 of the locations did not have wide enough margins but were clean. Dr recommended a second surgery to get the margins needed. Heard back from him yesterday and one of the three had DCIS. The surgeon was surprised at that based on my imaging and the…

High grade DCIS / ADH. Lump in right breast. Formerly treated with Duct Ectasia in left breast.
I had been experiencing a small pain in underarms and left breast in 2024. Later it was found to be Duct Ectasia in a medical report and no intervention was done as it wasn't serious. And around 25th May 2025 I again felt uncomfortable with my breast and arms and went for a mammogram. Further reports from MRI, Breast…

About a month ago i did a mammogram and ultrasound that found a large area of my left breast had calcifications clustered, did a core biopsy with ultrasound guide and results came back DCIS high grade with comedo necrosis. Debating continuing Letrozole after 2 years
Hello everyone. I had a mastectomy for Stage IIA breast cancer in 2022. No nodes or metastases. Started on Letrozole in 2022. I was very fit and well till then. The side effects, pain, fatigue, loss of appetite, feeling low are really getting to me. My lipid profile is altered and there is osteopenia. I have been…

Watched 2 years and now possible dcis plus invasive?
I had a bout of 1/8" dcis five years ago that was mid grade. Had lumpectomy good margins, but no rads as surgeon said it was too small and if it came back they could not radiate again. Ok, so fast forward 3 years, got another bout of tiny 1/8" dcis same area. Pathology was still dcis but higher grade. Surgeon wanted me on…

wireless indentification tag?
Hi, facing another lumpectomy for dcis, and the surgeon explained they don't do wires anymore, that they use a wireless Identification tag which helps maintain breast tissue by targeting the precise area of cancer during surgery. (Not sure I'm saying this right…. ) Anyway, I'm told it's placed before surgery with…

DCIS Grade 2. Anyone told to skip hormone blockers?
I was diagnosed with a wide span of DCIS, Grade 2. I had a lumpectomy and reconstruction on my right breast and a reduction on my left, clear margins, no invasive detected. My oncologist recommends I do radiation but no hormone therapy. He feels it is not needed and will not change my long-term outcome. I am wondering if…

Hard lump after biozorb
I had a lumpectomy in July for DCIS. They put in a biozorb device. Since then, I have developed what feels like a golf ball in the surgical site, where the biozorb has been placed. Is this normal? Any thoughts about using massage therapy to soften it up? I don't want to dislodge it! Thanks for your thoughts.

MRI
Hello! I am 47, I was diagnosed with DCIS (grade 2) last week. My second mammogram confirmed a small (3mm) spot near my nipple. I met with my oncologist on Thursday for my first appointment with him, pretty uneventful since I haven't had my MRI yet. I am scheduled this Thursday for my MRI and then meet with the breast…

DCIS
I’m 1 week post mastectomy and just received results of focal duct carcinoma in situ, intermediate nuclear grade without necrosis. I’m low key freaking out right now and would like any information that someone could provide. I opted for the mastectomy after I had a lumpectomy and mammogram that stated I have benign…

Differing diagnosis
I was diagnosis with DCIS grade 1 stage 0. I was given the treatment options. I decided to get a second opinion. My second opinion clinic requested the slides from my biopsy and that pathologist determined, I didn’t have DCIS. Has anyone ever experienced this?

DCIS Alternatives for treatment
I have a recent diagnosis with DCIS moderate to high grade. Has anyone else received this diagnosis and chosen to do nothing but monitor the situation? I went from biopsy and ultrasound results with a likely lumpectomy to the MRI results with a 4cm + area and recommendation for a masectomy to remove the 'cancer'. Any…

lymphovascular invasion or tissue displacement dcis
Just got my final pathology report after BMX, still pure DCIS. My Surgeon said no chemo, no radiotherapy and no tamoxifen. After reading through the whole report, there is one additional comment I don't quite understand: "In one block, at the edge of the tissue and partially within a thick walled vessel, there is a group…

Did you consider bilateral mastectomy for DCIS?
I am really struggling to make a decision about the best path forward, so I've come to learn from all of you. I am still waiting on genetic testing results to come through, but have no reason to believe that there will be anything of significance. If there is, I will pivot accordingly. I had a 1.2cm, grade 3 DCIS with…

Looking for answers!
Hi All. I am 41years old. When I was in my 20's I was diagnosed with PCOS. In 2023 I experienced a slight tingle in my right breast I knew was hormonal, but to appease my nagging husband, I went and was seen by my GP. She agreed that it was most likely a blocked milk duct as there were no other abnormal signs. I check…

Letrozole Side effects-- throaty
Have been taking letrozole for about 4 months after DCIS (w/clear margins), and preventative radiation treatment. Seem to be free of noticeable side effects except it appears to cause a cough and a 'drippy' feeling in the back of my throat. I confirmed this by going off it for 2 weeks, when these symptoms disappeared. Has…

Hypersensitivity and tenderness
I am new to this site and wonder if what I'm experiencing is normal. I had DMX with immediate reconstruction with tissue expanders on December 20th. My PS filled the expanders with air during the surgery, then on January 2 I had air exchange and saline fill of 250cc. I am 4'11 and going for a full B size. Anyway, I'm…

DCIS Grade 2 Diagnosis
Hi all, this is my first time posting here and am so grateful that this forum exists. My wife has had an incredibly stressful few months to say the least. I am 37 and was recently diagnosed with DCIS ER+ and recommended to have a lumpectomy, radiation and hormone therapy. DCIS with Isolated Tumor Cell in Sentinel Node
Has anyone had this? My primary tumor is DCIS, and no definite invasion seen from path report. But the one sentinel they took showed Isolated Tumor Cell. The surgeon wasn't too worried about it, said it's treated as negative and won't affect overall treatment plan. She said it might be from biopsy. But I feel uneasy about…

decisions to be made--DCIS suspicious for microinvasion
Hi everyone, This is my first time posting. I have a DCIS (grade 3 ER+ PR+) diagnosis and am kind of stuck between having a mastectomy or trying cryoablation first. In order to make that decision, I am trying to figure out how to make sense of my likelihood of being upstaged at surgery. One sticking point is microinvasion.…

DCIS stage 0 grade 3 ER + Lumpectomy and Radiation, clean lymph nodes
The Dr. gave me the choice lumpectomy or mastectomy. As she said it was caught early and still inside the duct I picked lumpectomy. Surgery went well, no complications, clean margins, clean lymph nodes etc. Did Radiation and because of the grade AI drugs - Oncologist said 50% chance it will come back. She originally told…
