Probably BRCA2 positive?
I have stage 1 breast cancer. Did genetic testing to cover my bases. Only 2 family members - second cousin and an uncle have had cancer, so little family history. Monday I was told I carry a founder BRCA2 mutation. So, from lumpectomy to bilateral mastectomy. Drs. were so surprised, they are checking for test accuracy before I take such a big step. Has this happened to anyone? Waiting not only the news, but a surgery date, and wondering, what surgery will I be having?

If it is confirmed that you have a gene mutation (such as BRCA2) that puts you at significant risk for developing breast cancer, and you also have a personal family history of breast cancer, then it is likely that your medical team would recommend a bilateral mastectomy in your case.
