Painful area

I will be 42 l have a routine exam schedule mid May. I had a biopsy and clip placed 2 years ago after my first exam showed a spot everything ended up being fine .these were the findings from that biopsy 2 years ago (benign adipose tissue and blood with focal fibrosis, columnar cell change, and apocrine metaplasia.) I have recently lost over 100 lbs and still losing. I recently noticed some dull pain and tender when pressed (I periodically would have asharp shooting pain but it never lasted) and found a lump I believe it is in the same general area the clip was placed I do have a nickel sensitivity. I'm wanting to see about rescheduling early but not sure if insurance will pay. Thinking maybe this could be scar tissue built up or fibrosis around the marker and with my weight loss it is now causing an issue. Just concerned.

Hi @anastacia01 , Your assessment that the lump is scar tissue and tenderness from the biopsy clip now palpable because of your weight loss makes sense. Insurance companies are strict about having a year’s interval between screening mammograms so there could be a coverage issue if you asked for an earlier appointment. If you saw a doctor first and they ordered a diagnostic mammogram it would be covered but it might be difficult to get that appointment and mammogram sooner than your scheduled exam. Since six weeks is not a long time it might be best to wait for the mammogram. You might want to make a doctor’s appointment now for after the mammogram to discuss the results and see if anything can be done for the pain. Hopefully everything will be clear. All the best.
