Nerve tingling 14 years post mastectomy
It’s a little unnerving to have something new happen 14 years after my bilateral mastectomy. I have been getting off and on tingling on the side of my breast under my armpit for about a week. I’m assuming it’s nothing serious, but wth?! How does this happen so long after?! Anyone have any insight or advice.

Hi @jmb5!
It's definitely intriguing for a new symptom like this to appear due to surgery so long ago, however, it's probably possible. This podcast on Post-Mastectomy Pain Syndrome explains some of the issues that can happen when nerves in the breast/chest/underarm are severed during surgery. There's also this thread where other share their experiences with PMPS where you can gain some insight, and you might find some commonalities.
Phantom Breast Pain may also be a consideration.
Regardless, it's always a good idea to bring any strange sensations to your GP for some advice or further investigation.
We hope this helps and that others will chime in soon with their experiences. Keep us posted!

I am 6 years out from my second breast cancer that resulted in a mastectomy. The past several months I have a spot about the size of a dime in the middle of the mastectomy scar that will occasionally bleed a drop. The scar is very tight and the spot in question is where they went in a week after my surgery to drain what they thought could be infection even though it wasn't. The dermatologist looked at it and said to have my surgeon look at it. He of course has since retired. Just wondering if it's something I should be worried about.
