I'm excited and grateful

I met with my oncologist yesterday and I will be starting Taxol + Herceptin once a week for 12 weeks starting on Tuesday. I'm excited because this means that along with my lumpectomy three weeks ago, I will REALLY be starting the process of becoming cancer-free. It's going to be a loooong year, because I will stay on the Herceptin every three weeks for another 9 months. And sometime after July I will do radiation. My diagnosis is invasive micropapillary carcinoma and DCIS, Stage 1A so my outlook is very good.

And I am so grateful for this community. I've been more or less lurking here and reading all your advice about what to expect and what to take to my chemo sessions. I've got my bag packed with all the goodies you've suggested and feel like I am ready. Thank you all!

Hi @deenao, It's good that your treatment is planned and scheduled. It's not always a walk in the park but your advanced planning should make things easier and give you information to advocate for yourself if necessary. All the best for a smooth, successful nine months.
