BECOMING ILL DURING CHEMOTHERAPY
Hello everyone
My sister has had surgery for Stage 2b HER2+++ breast cancer and has received her second course of TCHP (Total Chemotherapy).Meanwhile, she went to the doctor because she had a slight hoarseness and cough. She is on antibiotics. She feels better and has no fever, and she doesn't feel weak except for the effects of chemotherapy, but I'm a little worried. Have any of you gotten sick during chemotherapy? I would like to hear your experiences and suggestions.

Good to hear that your sister is felling better. I'm triple positive as well. I didn't manage TCHP well at all, and had to go to infusion for fluids and a half dose of Neulasta 2 days after each chemo infusion. When I went in one time, a woman was coughing horribly without a mask on. Guess who caught what she was coughing up? I was put on a Z-pack at urgent care. I reacted badly to that and developed a fever up to 101, 2 red/black eyes, large knots on my calves and knees, and a horrible rash all over my face, neck and scalp. I stopped the Z-pack after 3 days and started taking Benadryl on a regular schedule. Within 4 days, my rash had cleared significantly and my eyes looked much better. :) I later read that Z-packs are ill advised for those on chemo. I'd advise calling the oncologist if you become ill. Other doctors aren't aware of all of the interactions.
