Very heavy periods post-Tamoxifen
I stopped taking Tamoxifen last year after being on it for 10 years. I am in my early 50s and my periods while on Tamoxifen in the last couple of years were every few months and fairly light. Since going off, my periods are every 25-30 days and are very heavy for 3 days (with lighter bleeding lasting another week). My breasts are also very sore and large in the week or so before my period. It is horrible! Have others experienced this, and how long did it last? It's been 7 months so far…

Hi @breastie14, we're sorry for the worries that led you here, but we're glad you've found us. Please consult with your ob/gyn about the heavy periods. While it's possible that this may be a residual side effect from coming off long-term use of Tamoxifen (which may be associated with uterine lining thickening and polyps, which can contribute to the heavy periods), it's also possible that your heavy periods are due to perimenopause.
