Hx DCIS L BREAT 5 years ago
jade mastectomy with direct reconstructive sx . Implants bilaterally. Fat graphing 1 year later on right breast for symmetry. Now 6 years later found 1.4 cm polymorphic lesion on mammo. Scheduled for stereotactic bx. Have severe health anxiety. Looking for positive stories that may point to this being benign or caused from fat transfer 5 years ago. I’ve resigned myself this could be DCIS. But worried it’s more than that. Not sure I can do this again. Biopsy is July 6 th. Anyone out there with. Positive story

it is pleomorphic not polymorphic if that makes a difference

Sorry that you have had to join us again, but we are here for you if needed.
Take a deep breath. You don't know what you don't know. You also can't change whether or not the lesion is malignant. Try and find things to distract yourself until your biopsy. Waiting is one of the hardest parts of this journey. Pamper yourself and do things you enjoy.
IF it does turn out to be malignant, you've been on this road before. You know so much more now than you did the first time, so you WILL get through it. We've got you and are here for you.

the fear is relentless and completely debilitating, isn’t it? I understand completely. Hx of DCIS, left breast, nine years ago (2017). I opted for DMX with direct implants. Fat grafting done a year later for symmetry. All was well.. until…
This past March, I felt a pea size (maybe smaller) nodule in my non cancerous breast (right). My mind immediately went to deep, dark places. Breast surgeon oncologist fit me in immediately for both u/s and 3D mammogram to see what was going on. I had two radiologists look at the u/s and mammogram to be certain… Both of those images came back as fat necrosis…. So, there’s a possibility that your spot could be that as well.
Deep breaths. I understand the fear. However, like Mandy said above, you can’t change the outcome… so don’t put the cart before the horse just yet. You’re doing everything possible, which is all you can control. Thinking of you. Let us know…0 -

Sounds like you went through the same thing. Comforting to hear someone else with grafting had a similar story. You’re right, trying not to put the cart before the horse. But as you know, a little PTSD after our journey is rough. Thank you so much for chiming in. I wish I would have remembered to tell them about the fat grafting when I had the mammo. But I guess going through the bx is the best thing to do for peace of mind. Do you remember, where your lesions Pleomorphic?

@sagelady , yes, my original calcifications were considered to be pleomorphic. As to the ptsd, I get it. Completely debilitating! But, I’ve learned from therapy… we can’t control everything. So take a deep breath and enjoy these next two weeks before the biopsy. Don’t borrow worry. Whatever the results, you’ll handle it. You’ve done it before so clearly you’re a warrior and can do it again, should you need to. ❤️

well, not the news I wanted . DCIS grade 3. Waiting to see surgeon next Wednesday. Leaning toward another mastectomy. As I am concerned about radiation with implant there. Capsular contractions etc…
My only questions re that choice are
- I don’t have to do imaging on the mastectomy side I have now. Will this be true of the second mastectomy? Will this give me a pass on fretting over yearly imaging? If so, this would be a huge factor in my decision, As I have severe health anxiety and these annual screening are very hard on me.
2. should I ask for implant replacement on “ old” mastectomy side? They are 6 years old. I thought implants had a life span. This would reset the clock.

I have just reached the point of scheduling my first unilateral reconstruction, post mastectomy mid-May.
I won’t pretend to know what you’re going through as you face your second diagnosis. I can send you a virtual hug, that I hope will help. I feel that the anxiety and stress can often be more challenging than the disease and treatment. I hope you find your strength 🩷

shucks. But, at least you now know. I would opt for the mastectomy too. You won’t need mammograms anymore, but you’ll still need to be monitored. Even though it’s not required, my insurance approves it, so I am monitored every 6 months by ultrasound. My doctors are amazing and said these ultrasounds aren’t necessary, but my mental health is just as important, so they do it. For some reason, yes they do make my anxiety fall off the charts, but once they’re over, I feel like I couldn’t move on with just a manual breast exam.
As for replacing the other implant, i probably would have a conversation with my doctor about it. If it’s not giving you any issues, then don’t borrow trouble. However, I do also understand about starting over with a clean slate, so to speak, with two new implants. Let us know what you decide. Best of luck… you’ve totally got this!!0 -
has anyone here had DCIS grade 3 with comedo necrosis and NOT had any invasive cancer found at time of surgery in the breast or sentinel node
