Am I vain to want to keep my hair by cold capping?
I just met the oncologist Friday for an initial appointment. My 1st chemo is Wednesday 8/12.
They discussed cold capping in order to keep my hair. The cost is high and I keep going back and forth between the expense and whether it's just plain vain of me to want to try to keep my hair. Any input regarding cold capping? Is it worth it?

Welcome, @suzieq64! We're so sorry you find yourself here, but we hope you find this community to be supportive and encouraging.
You are not vain at all - hair loss and the decision to try and keep one's hair during cancer treatment is a very personal choice, and you should do what you are comfortable with! We have a thread here on Cold Capping that you might find helpful, both in reading about others' experiences and asking for advice and guidance.
Whatever you decide, we're here to support you every step of the way.

@suzieq64 Hope your first chemo went smooth yesterday. No way at all are you being vain with cold capping, you do you! If that helps you get through looking like yourself they that's what you do. I did not cold cap but I see plenty of women at treatment doing it. Breast cancer robs us of so much so if you want to try to keep your hair that's perfectly reasonable! Sending strength and positive vibes to you as you begin your treatment.
