DCIS (bilateral) grade 1 , IDC (right) grade 2, 1.3cm, HR+,oncodex score 25, lymph node negative

Would like any feedback from others with my type or similar with their experience in choosing the hormone blocker pill type (if you took, what was your experience) or if you choose not to take hormone blocker? I'm through the lumpectomy, 4 chemo sessions & 16 radiation sessions. I'm VERY conflicted on taking a hormone blocker pill. But after today's appointment w/my oncologist, which he STRONGLY advised that I take, I am doing additional research and would love any and all feedback. I'm age 59, first in my family for BC, and genetic testing all came back negative. When I was first diagnosed it was just the DCIS. Then there was a flick with placing the pins and the alignment. So, then I had an ultrasound that found the IDC. According to my surgeon,, the DCIS won't even be treated/deemed BC in the next 5 years. My experience thus far has been mixed from the start from just getting seen to wait ti.e for schedulong appointments and surgeries, to having to go back for additional surgery to remove tissue that died... its just been a mess!! The chemo and radiation is the only part that went as planned... this is the worse Rollercoaster I've ever been on!!! Ugh.. Thank you!!

Hi @simonsaysask , welcome to Breastcancer.org! We’re sorry you’ve had such a frustrating experience. After a roller coaster of appointments, surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, it's understandable that you would be considering hormone therapy cautiously.

We hope that others who have been diagnosed with similar conditions will share their experiences with you with tamoxifen, aromatase inhibitors, or choosing not to take hormone therapy. Until then, you may also find these resources helpful:
