Did i tell you my doc uses no bras whatsoever. from day 1, has us shower right away, and uses only steristrips...I am wearig a no wire bra just to hold me in a little and to hold the gauze in placewhere the kskin is peeling,,,but i think the chic shaper may be the right idea. JUDY

Judy...My PS sent me home after the first exchange with nothing but some surgical tape or steri strips or whatever it is. After the second exchange, I decided to follow what many on here have been advised to do so that maybe they will stay where they are. I am very happy with how they look. Thank you again and again Deborah for the advice for the Allergan Style 45 800 ccs for my second exchange and lift. My PS thinks they are "pretty".

Deborah...great pic! you look exceptionally happy for the night before a mastectomy

Deborah...with the new style implants and the lift the upper transition looks good which is why I am trying everything to keep them from dropping at all. Even with the 800 ccs, I still fit into the 38 C warners bra that fit with the Mentor 750s. Like you said, it wouldn't have been worth it to exchange for just 50 ccs....but since I had to have the extra surgery especially on the prophy side anyway...it made perfect sense to try to fix the upper fullness with more than just hoping the lift would be enough. The style change and the 50 ccs got this for me....now if it will just hold. If it doesn't, then I'm still done with surgeries. 8 is Enough ! I'm sure they will always look fine in bras. If they drop at all, then braless may be out of the question...but prior to BC, I never went without a bra anyway. So, I plan to support them for as many months as it takes to be sure they are healed in.
Now that the root canal tooth is out, I don't seem to be getting any more infections (knock on wood). Both exchanges have been easy and painless. But, after almost a year with TEs, the muscles didn't have to stretch and with all the re-openings of the incisions on the prophy side, there is probably no feeling left there anyway.
Thank you again and again Deborah.
Hey...Everyone...Trust Whippetmom.! She knows how these things turn out. Even with 800 ccs, I am 3 inches smaller around than before even though I can still fit into my warners 38 D underwire bras from before. I also fit into Warners 38 C bras which I could not before. I am wearing shirts that did not come close to closing before all this. Listen to her about how the way implants fill out a bra is still different from natural breasts. Also, pay attention to her recommendations because many are unhappy that their new breasts are too small. I would have gone even smaller than the 750s if I had not listened to her and others on this thread. I know a woman who wishes she had her TEs back because the implants don't behave the same as the TEs or have as much projection.
If you are new here....it will serve you well to read back through all the posts.

Brenda, the LE is on one side but both sides are "missing" veins in my arms. The nurses in the surgical wards all say it's common with chemo patients. Oh boy.
Spent last night in tears. The radiated side has decided to really start squeezing the implant. Seriously,it looks vacuum packed. The skin is so tight against the implant that it looks like fingers are squeezing it. I'm hoping that it's swelling but this is 10 days post op. I see my PS on Tuesday morning.
After 9 surgeries in 18 months, I'm crushed by the idea that I might need the LD Flap afterall. Two more surgeries hanging over my head (flap and nipple) plus all the recovery time again?!
For those who have had the LD Flap -- is it just one surgery or do they go back and do a revision? My friend is a uni, and she just had a DIEP and she was told it's a two-step procedure. They made her larger then they'll go back to match her natural breast in size.
I know that once I get my head around the idea, I'll be fine and happy again. But then again, hoping this is a false alarm.

Ok, everyone keeps talking about pics... I would love to see how the end result is so that I know down the road I can see myself returning to normal...Help point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Texas and Luna sure hope you heal well and are happy with results. Jan, 2 weeks on back, that is tough, maybe books on tape? Hang in there! Judy and Baxter, continued good healing to you and everyone else with recent surgeries!
Lots of surgeries this week, and today is a good day for thoughts, prayers and best wishes to Hood, Alitman, Nae, Julie! and anyone else having a procedure this week!!
Happy Easter and Passover to those celebrating! 0 -
Dublin -- you need to send a PM to Timtam. The picture forum is a separate, private site and I don't know the criteria but Timtam does not automatically give you access (I think she checks first to see how long you've been posting here). But get started by PMing her.

Deborah--Can you explain how fat grafting works? I understand the lipo and injection part, but what I don't understand is how to they make sure you don't just have a lump of fat? Do they fill the step off and push fat out on to the upper pole to help cover rippling? How do they keep the breast smooth and without ridges on it? Forgive my ignorance.
Hugs and Happy Easter--Karen

Happy Easter Ladies! My exchange date is May 18. I just found out that BC has spread to my femur bone and I need a rod there. Don't you need a MRI to check out the implants? and Metal and MRI I thought you can't do? Anyone with information I would greatly appreciate. I am due to have the operation April 14.
((((Easy Hugs))))

Wanda, (((easy hugs back at you))) It is being recommended these days to have an mri every few years with silicone implant. That said, I've had silicone for years and never had an mri, was thinking about it in next year at the previous recommended 10 year mark, so this is new. I'm pretty sure you don't need an mri with saline implants. I had concerns with some internal staples, but was told they were okay with mri, not sure about the rods. Maybe find out exactly what rod is made of, then call and ask the radiologist at the place that you might have an mri?

{{Huges Wanda}}} I'm wondering if the MRI can be one just on your upper body?

I'm with you on that with the fat grafting stuff you asked Deborah. Having this done this Wednesday. This whole process is interesting!!! I am hoping PS grafts from my little "pooch" on my tummy more than my hips...hips I can work on at the gym but the tummy...too hard to get rid of the "after 2 kids" pooch! LOL!
Have a BEAUTIFUL EASTER ladies!!!!

Wanda(((Hugs))) I don't know for sure, but in the last 6 months I've had two shoulder MRIs and one done on my brain, and each time they put some kind of contraption around the area they are looking at. I don't know if this focus the magnet or not. Also, there are many new machines that allow you to have your legs out of the tube during imagining. Hang in there.
Nedeza--I hope it goes well, let me know what they do!
Good Luck to all the ladies of the week!!!
Hugs--Karen

Best wishes to all the ladies having surgery this week, Hood, Alitman, NAE, Julie and Kclark. I wish you wonderful results, speedy recoveries and a few nice meals that you don't have to cook this week.
Laptop foob photo update: I went to my work briefcase this morning to pull out my laptop, but it wasn't there... ok, where did I leave it? The last time I used it was at work last week - did I leave it at the college library or in my office? And what about all of those foob photos conveniently saved in my desktop "breast" folder? What if students find these and post them? Why am I so paranoid about this??? So instead of hiding Easter eggs for my kids, I drive 1/2 hour to my office, find my laptop and bring it home...Now the foob shots are going onto my DH's computer for good and I may never take another one! (I already learned not to use my iPhone to take foob shots - there they were the next day when I was taking photos at my daughter's softball game)

Thank for all the lovely welcome messages. I was interested in the forum pics after reconstruction (TE exchanges and reductions of natural breasts). Where do I find this forum and who do I ask permission for access?

Colleen, Abnerb, Deborah, & to all the rest in sunny California!
Nothing like an earthquake to shake things up right??? I'm much north of you but we felt it big time as we sat down for our Easter dinner. Guess I'll be looking at some "beach front" properties soon! LOL!
Stay calm girls!

Hood1980, Alitman, Nedeza, Juliempw and Kclark - good luck with surgeries this week! Here's to lovely results and no pain!
Jayne -- send a PM to Timtam on this site and ask for access to the picture forum. Be patient as she does not always respond immediately and also likes to wait if you have not posted much here.
Hope all our California girls are finding the ground beneath their feet stable! Thinking that the earthquake today was too far south to be a major issue.

Thanks for all the well wishes for my upcoming exchange on Tuesday & I wish Ailtman, Nedeza, Juliempw & Kclark the BEST also!
Karen, Nedeza & others - I will help Deborah answer about the fat grafting too. I had it done last year to improve on my step off around my implant & help fill in a divot. The doctor (at least mine) uses a fine needle to inject the fat as microdroplets in grids/pattterns. The goal is for the fat droplets to develop their own blood supply thus ensuring their survivability. You don't geel fat lumps, because a big blob of fat is not injected in one spot. The fat is "harvested" or lipo'ed and centrifuged to separate fat from other fluid and damaged fat cells and only the best fat is injected using again this special needle/canula (sp?). It often takes more than one fat grafting procedure to accomplish the goal you are seeking, because again it should be done incrementally in small amounts for optimum viability of the transfer.

Thanks Hood1980 for the FYI. Such a science isn't it! Will be thinking of you Tuesday!
Lilah~
I'm quite a ways from the border but we still felt it pretty good. I am sure Brenda & Colleen got a better "feel" of this one!
Well...got 2 more days to wok out like crazy since I won't be seeing the gym again for a few weeks after Wed.
Thoughts & prayers to those heading for surgery this week too!

NAE: The earthquake woke me up from my nap. While I screamed "Earthquake!" my husband calmly picked up the dog and asked our 14 year old to come and get me. Our house, a bungalow, swayed and made noises. We all stepped out into the backyard, stayed out for a few minutes, then saw the headline on CNN about it. It was frightening. I am no stranger to earthquakes, but this one made me panic.

Kristinka, I always get a laugh reading about your foob picture problems. Although I'm sure everyone is quite entertained by your dilemas, I thought I would tell you what I do with my foob pictures and hope that this helps ease your mind a little. I save them to a disc! A re-writable one to be exact, so every time I take a new pix I save it along with the rest and delete it from my PC and camera. So, no more accidently pulling up a folder on the computer with boob pix on it. I put it in a safe place in our bedroom where only DH and I know about it. Not nearly as fun as your stories, but they would be safe for the future for when you need them and no one can pull them up when you don't want.
Anyway, happy surgeries this week ladies! I get yippee squishy next week and I am so excited! I was curious about the fat grafting too. My PS hasn't said anything about doing this, but I know that I have a big dipper above my rigth foob from the BMX, he says that he can fix it at surgery, but wondering if he might have to do the fat grafting. I would love it if he had to take some fat from my tummy! That would be such a bonus to all of this! Anyway, will wait and see!
