Bilateral mastectomy in October 2024 (IDC Stage 2A – grade 2). No radiation/no chemo. I live in a rural underserved area so delayed reconstruction was the only option. Surgeon performed an aesthetic flat closure. I am waiting to meet with a PS who is 3 hours away. I am normally slight in stature, but a very strict…
Hi everyone, Back in 2022 I was diagnosed with high-grade DCIS in my right breast. I had two wide excisions but still ended up with positive margins. At that point, I could have had a third surgery or a mastectomy, but I decided instead to go with radiation and close monitoring. Since then, I’ve been having mammograms,…
I’m trying to make my decision for my next surgery after having my BMX a couple of months ago. I need some advice! I’m trying to decide between Diep flap vs hybrid. I’ve spoken to 2 women that had the Diep done many years ago and are very unhappy with their results. Hoping to get some more feedback about Diep and the…

Basically, my rt lumpectomy from late 2005 in past four years ( age) is so much smaller than my left breast that was always…

I had a single mastectomy about a month ago. the doctors spared the skin but the plastic surgeon wasn't able to put the expander in at the time of the surgery. Now I'm thinking of not getting the implant but can I keep the skin or will I have to have another surgery to go flat?
My abdomen is still swollen after my Diep surgery back on March 3rd. A cat scan shows no hernia, but "deformity of abdominal wall muscle" per my family doctor. I'm waiting to speak to my PS about my the noticeable bulge on my right side - and in the meantime, found this very recent article (May 2008) about complications…
Can someone tell me the risks & benefits of having immediate autologous reconstruction in the same surgery as single mastectomy? And the risks & benefits of going flat after single mastectomy now, but considering having autologous reconstruction a couple of years later? The breast had radiation treatment 18 years ago for…
There is already a great forum regarding micro fat grafting and some really supportive posters that have been through the process. Although some have posted doctors in their area, I thought I would start a discussion where we could post the PS doctors in our own areas so it's easier for people to research and contact those…
