Lilah, every day gets better! Keep taking the meds if you need them. Can't wait until Monday to hear about the results!
Val & Kat!!!! whooo hoo!!!! Yippee Squishy and nips!!!! I'm so excited for you both!!! Can't wait to hear from you... Val, I think that you're going to be pleasantly surprised, I was so on the fence about the nipples too, but to me they just really make them feel so much more real. And Kat, I know that you're going to look and feel great!

Morning Lilah and all,
Lilah, welcome to the other side

Hope you pain levels drop quickly...I was one of the lucky ones...tylenol (constantly) was all I needed by the second day, I could still feel twinges and sore bits....but they were manageable. If you need the pain meds use them...remember it's easier to stay ahead of the pain instead of catch up with it. Rest and heal, doctor's orders

My doc wouldn't let me take advil or any blood thinning meds for the first several days because of potential bleeding....so tylenol and I became best friends
My dog really gets concerned when I get laid up......he's happy to have our walks back /' . '\
Kat and Val....sending good thoughts your way....hoping your day go smooth as silk
Strength and healing,
Laura2

CS7777: I have long hair, and am also a uni. I put my hair over my TE side so people can't see how lop-sided I am!

Good luck today Val and Kat! Saying a little prayer for you both.
Lilah- Good to hear you are doing well. I don't have any kids so my 2 sweet English bulldogs were my constant companions everyday while I was at home recovering. I tried to feel sorry for myself one day and sat in the floor sobbing but it didn't last long because they both just kept loving on me and trying to cheer me up. How could I not smile just looking at their sweet faces so concerned. Give your doggie and extra treat from me for being so sweet!

Kay these videos are so great and will help put so many womens fears at ease. I know I was so scared the first time I was filled. I am going to check out your friends blog. By the way both of you are beautiful ladies.Good luck with your fill today.
Lilah glad you are doing well.
I have a question. Have any of you skipped having nipples constructed and just had the tatooing done? If so are you pleased with the results? I am thinking of doing this. It's just one more surgery I don't want to have to go through.
Thanks,
Susan

Add me to the "tight in the morning" group. It's become routine for me to massage in the shower while I let the hair conditioner do its thing. Multi-tasking, ladies!
I got good news yesterday, and actually started laughing. After waiting a month for my insurance company to approve my tattoos, they FINALLY got back with my plastic surgeon's office saying that they don't need to pre-approve the procedure. Really? You couldn't just say that during one of the first phone calls made to your office???
Anyway, my appointment is on Monday. I've been asked to use a marker and draw where I want the aerolas. It's arts and crafts time.

Becky that is such a sweet story! My dog gets plenty of treats... she is the most spoiled dog alive lol.
I think I'm feeling better today... just can't believe how much sleeping I've been doing! Even just taking Tylenol during the day! And yeah my PS also says no advil for the bleeding potential. Also no Vitamin E for the same reason (so I'm off my multivitamin for now).
Can't wait to hear reports from Val and Kat!

I'm considering fat grafing to fill a divot and generally inprove shape. I have considerable asymmetry and not sure if a revision will be needed to improve that. My PS says I have steps because I am thin and there isn't much tissue to cover the implants. On the cancer side, they removed a lot of breast tissue above the implant so now I have ripples. There is plenty of fat elsewhere so I'm not sure why my chest has to be so lean but I've always been that way!
Paula - boob greed LOL! I'm starting to wonder if I'd have less rippling if I went bigger. PS wanted to go bigger but I'm 48 and thin and don't have a Hooters shirt.
I'd love to hear follow ups from others who have had fat grafting. My PS hasn't had much experience with it and my BS has no patients who have done this but is concerned about necrosis that could lead to unnecessary biopsies (I hope we're never going there again!) The PS was at a conference recently where there was a discussion regarding getting insurance companies to approve fat grafting as it is considered controversial by some. There seems to be an issue with the billing code (a new code is expected that will clarify the work is for reconstruction). Mostly I'm curious about your results ... and did you have multiple procedures ... any lumps that cause concern?

Becky so nice to see your face...pretty lady

Lilah maybe you'll be lucky like me and only need tylenol
Pain killers and I aren't very good friends....I either get very itchy or sleepy (doc, dopey...grumpy.....happy)..hee hee
I'm interested in the fat grafting conversation too....I have some hollows that may need a little plumping.....
Strength and healing,

Texas, ask your PS if s/he has fake nips/areolas you can try on. They come in different sizes and you can play with them to see what works. It's going to be easy as pie; easiest thing I've been thru in this journey by far AND it has very dramatic (in a good way) results.

mbj: No I'm not going to have the other side done. I'm just going to have the implant in my MX side, and my PS thinks he can match me up pretty well using the anatomical shaped Allergan 410. Cross fingers!
bcincolorado: That's a great use of your hair! Unfortunately mine's only shoulder length and no help as a disguise. Luckily scarves were kind of "in" this year so I didn't completely look like I was dressing for a different decade.

Great idea Maggie. I'm so looking forward to this!

So far I love my gummy... seems to have a really nice shape already and except for the pain in the IMF (where I think my PS put a bunch of stitches) that side is doing well! My reduction side feels a bit more sore and there's a big bruise (no drain on that side)... but all in all I am feeling better today.
Cs777 -- I think the gummy will help you get symmetry with your natural breast... my reduction breast looks bigger (due to swelling) and it may end up being a tad bigger but the shape seems pretty comparable.

Lilah,
Glad you are feeling better each day. How long was your surgery? and how long in recovery? Getting a little anxious....have been in denial; not ready to face the whole hospital gown, IV, anesthesia thing again.

Val and Kat - I missed yesterday's toasts to you but will have a glass of wine (or maybe a margarita) tonight to celebrate.
Lilah and Rebecca - glad to see everyone is feeling better!
I've been mia a little since my little one has croup, which = no sleep for mommy! How bad is it really for me to lift too soon? PS told me to wait a month to lift the kids, but with my 22 mo. old feeling so icky the last couple of days, I've not had the heart not to ... Last night was the only time it really started to bother me so far as I could tell - Vicodin is a gift from heaven! Is it really bad?
0 -
mlrbelle: If it's not a lot it might not be bad... but I wouldn't do it often and I wouldn't take Vicodin and then do it, because then your body won't be able to tell you when it hurts, know what I mean? How far out are you? And is it from Mx or Exchange? I had more restrictions after BMX then exchange... my PS released me from all restrictions after 2 weeks from exchange (a little too soon for all things in my opinion, so I'm trying to use common sense)... I understand how it's hard not to hold babies when they're sick... maybe you could sit on couch or in a chair and snuggle, that way you aren't really lifting, just cuddling!
I too missed yesterday's toasts, so tonight I'm drinking a toast to all, with BudLite Lime!
Marianne, I know that you didn't ask me, but thought I'd chime in here... my surgery was 3 hours and I think I was in recovery for about an hour.... they told DH that since I was going home right after they kept me in recovery a little longer to make sure that pain was totally under control. My PS also had a lot of pocket work to do, so it might've been a little longer then normal, but not sure. Just relax tonight, take a deep breath and just think Yippee Squishy!!!!
Val, how are those nips?! Anxiously waiting to hear what you think!
Kat, I'm sure your still drugged up, hopefully we'll hear from you tomorrow! Thinking about you, and I'll drink a beer for you because I know that you can't have one yet... It is Thirsty Thursday, you know!
Have a great night ladies!

Thanks Paula - "Thirsty Thursday", I like it! I only took the Vicodin after I was feeling sore LOL! I'm 2 weeks out from my exchange - so maybe not so bad then. After 2 c-sections, bilateral, reconstruction and exchange, I've yet to make it to the mark the doctors set for me to go unrestricted. I guess I'm just a problem child

Oh, and the cuddling - she's not having that. She wants to be held "up" and carried to bed, etc. Hopefully, she'll be feeling better this evening or very soon ... for both our sakes.
Hope the nips are doing well Val!

mrlbelle: sounds like you are doing just fine then! I know what you mean, kids make it hard to follow doctor's orders sometimes! I think you'll be fine! Enjoy Thirsty Thursday! I just found out my sister is making Margaritas for the b-day party we're getting ready to go to, so yippe for me!!!

Marianne -- it'll be ok! You'll do better than me anyway because it'sjust exchange on both sides for you, right? I had one exchange, one reduction... so far so good but I'm still sore
I believe I was in surgery for about 2 hours 20 minutes... they walked me at about 1:20 PM and informed boyfriend it went well at 3:40 PM... I think I woke up in recovery about an hour or so later (but to be honest I don't really know what time it was when I woke up
We left the hospital at 7 PM!0 -
Glad everyone is doing well after surgeries!
Did I miss VAL's post? How did the nipples go?
PS closed today. Will call tomorrow. Pain not there this AM. no clue why.
Along with my job, two kids, two baseball teams, and my husbands two jobs, i ve been taking care of my mom after back surgery.
worn out
nighty night ladies

Kitty that's great about Sloan! I have my PS there (but don't know the onc's there -- my onc who is local I LOVE and she is the one who sent me to Sloan for the surgery). I am out of town on the 27th too or I'd come meet ya! (BF and I are going to Atlantic City for the weekend).
You'll like it there. They take good care of you.

I asked my PS yesterday if they do fat grafting. They dont currently do it our hospital, but they do it at a bigger one about 25 miles away. She then said they hope to be doing it at our hospital soon and that if i need it,it may be here by then. She said i would have to heal fully from the exchange first and then any reviosion work would be done then, including fat graft if need be. Even if that means sending me to the other hospital for it.
I was really suprised! I expected her to give me one of those looks,as if to say...."oh God,she's been on that bloody internet again..." !!! LOL
I found ut a little more about the anatomical cohesive gel implant they yse here. Its not the firmest one,its the mid-range one they use. There is also a softer one but it doesn't hold it's shape well so they don't recommend it. Glad to know its not the really firm one anyway. I can also opt for the round implant if i want-even though they put an anatomical TE in. I'm in turmoil now! I love the fullness and cleavage of th TE,which is what i would get with the round gel ones. But then the cleavage would look quite fake with me being bony chested. But if i stick with the anatomical gel ones,i wont get that full, round look or high cleavage, but i will get better projection and i more natural shape. She also said they may be soft enough to minipulate into more cleavage with a bra.
I dont know what to choose now! Fancy giving a Libra a choice!! We're the most indecisive ppl on earth! I cant even choose off a dinner menu, let alone choose what breasts i want!!! I have asked to see photo's of both types of implants finished look. If i think the teardrop will give me enough top shape then i'll prob stick with it.
Any thoughts???
