I am getting another MUGA scan tomorrow morning.  I hope this time they do it right.  I'm hoping to start chemo on Wednesday.

On hair loss - my hairdresser told me that she noticed how much hair I lost post surgeries last year.  I would get a lot of regrowth a couple months later.  I have a lot of fine hair, so I didn't notice it right away.  Now that I'm getting chemo I will definitely notice it!  LOL!!!

Hi Donna,  Try to relax, esp with your exchange a month out, or you'll wear yourself out before you get there!  ;)  I haven't noticed post-surg hair loss (xchg was 4 wks ago), and if I did I'd probably chalk it up to tamoxifen not surg/anesth, although it could be either.  About pain, for me it was MUCH, MUCH less than the MX itself.  After MX I stayed on vicodin for about 10 days and then Alleve for much longer, whereas after exchange I was tapering after a day and off it after about 2.5 days.  I took Alleve after that for 2-3 more days.  I got tired easily and took naps most afternoons for about a week.  If I had a regular job I could have gone back after a week. Everyone is different, but I've read many women here write that the xchg surg was much less painful for them as well. Hope that helps calm your nerves!

Coolbreeze:  Oh indeed, I urge you to seek a second opinion.  This just sounds as though your PS is having some "issues."  I cannot fathom what this could be, but this would make me question having him perform a procedure that he seems to be waxing and waning about, and an unsteady mind creates the potential for unsteady hands.  I will be equally as interested as you will be to hear what he has to say to you tomorrow.

Bonnie:  Oh my, what incredibly good news! I do not know if I would TOUCH that implant.  It CAN drop.  Laura [Estepp] just posted recently that her rads breast just recently dropped - six months - maybe eight months after the exchange.  I would do nothing this year....well....if you need to get in a revision this year for a deductible, November or December might be okay.  But I am so happy for you!!!

Kate:  That "Boob Fairy" video was hilarious.  This one is a favorite of mine.  It was a Canadian commercial promoting breast cancer awareness...

Rebecca:  Personally, I would just have the revision and wait for the Sientra round gummy bears to be approved - perhaps this year - more likely next year. You could get a larger size at that time, and the firmer consistency of the true cohesive gel would probably be more pronounced [more projection] on your chest wall than would saline implants with the same volume.  Just wait on the nips until you decide what to do.

I happen to think this is a very good reconstruction result/transformation:

Hi Jeannie, if you haven't gotten much information on the gummie bear implant just go to the search option in the upper right corner and type in [gummy bear]....you'll see many posts on people who have them or are hoping for them.  Hope this helps. :)

Congratulations on your exchange date Kate33 and Donna :)

Donna don't be scared about your exchange...many of us had very little discomfort and some were uncomfortable for a longer period of time.  I was lucky an only needed pain meds for the first night and then I only used Tylenol after that...I was back at work in 4 days :)  I think your outcome depends on how much adjusting the ps does when he does your exchange....I think the more straight forward the exchange the less pain :)

Having a nice restful Sunday...enjoying couch time and the World Cup with DH and Smudge.

    Strength and healing,

I agree Deborah -- lovely result!  I think, for unis, the best chance at symmetry is when the healthy breast is augmented to match the implant (as in these photos).

    Nice Deborah!!

I've seen this pic when I was researching in the beginning & it certainly was what I needed to see as I was waiting to have my single MX & reconstruction!

That photo is affirmation that I need larger areolae.  Mine look like Rorschach inkblots.

    Deborah,

why again did you choose the tiny areolas? I wondered that when you posted pictures. Everyone picks what they pick for their reasons....

I said I wanted them to be 1.5 inches.  1.2 inches is the "standard" areola size.  So I have no idea why they look so small.  But it is fixable.  Better than going too large initially....

Nedeza - Thanks for your info.  its only been 2 1/2 week and the swelling has gone down on the natural side.  I know I have to be patient.  I just don't expect them to really look the same.  Just want to look good in clothes, especially in a bathing suit.

Deborah - I agree with Nedeza.   wow that is an unbelievably good reconstruction.

Deborah:  Thank you so much for posting the uni picture!  That gives me renewed hope that things will turn out ok.  Hell, the before picture could almost be a picture of my teeny, tiny LOL.  Was this just with an expander?  Going to watch: if men had breasts now--goodnite everyone.

I hope to use my pre-op photo and match my own areolas as closely as possible.  My new boobage is very close to my original size so same size as the originals is fine with me :)  I had never seen so many boobs until I lost my own, I am amazed and the wide variety of size and color our areolas come in :)

Wishing all the best to any of you undergoing procedures this week! :)

Deborah, do you have updated pics posted?  I really liked the size and color you chose for your nip/aereola complex.

OK, I measured the flap where the tattoo and nipple will reside and it's around 45 mm. Does anyone know how much of that will the nipple pul in?  I think they are too large; at 45 mm that's a little over 1.75 inches

gosh and I stupidly got stuck watching other men with boobs videos after watching the one Deborah posted...I guess having two boys (17, 21) and watching too much Comedy Central have left a mark on me and my sophomoric sense of humor!
