Sandy ~ Didn't sleep sitting up but recall that my PS asked me to not sleep on my side for a couple of months.  Did the fluffy pillow flat on back thing every time I had a surgery.

Wendy ~ Am cracking up about the glow in the dark pasties (especially the ones to be stuck on the cat).  Ha!!!

Back to work for me.  Colleen

I'm so glad you're getting what you wanted; one more fill, and a bigger size!  :)  Congratulations!!

Hi all haven't checked in in awhile.  I have been lurking though.  I have one more fill to go, then I will start the overfills.  Not sure how many of them.  Of course I am doing my chemo now so it will be a long time before I get my exchange.  But I am really happy where I am at.  Does anyone know how long they had to wait to swim after their mastectomy?  I had mine on April 16 and have just never thought to ask my ps about it.  It is gonna be a hot one this weekend and my pool might be calling my name.  Thanks!!

    Waldo -

About antibiotics and dental work.  I'm a dentist and there are no formal recommendations from the American Dental Association regarding antibiotics and breast implants.  Some women will report that they take them however it is interesting that normal daily activities also create the potential for a bacteremia and the overuse of antibiotics is why we have MRSA and other infections that are resistant.

    Just my thoughts...

Hi Ladies -  I come and go from this thread but wanted to share a little.  I had my bilateral lattisimus dorsi flap reconstruction 5/4.  3 weeks later I started with the fills (the TE's were put in empty, thank goodness, it allowed for some great healing).  I am now up to 520cc and have not missed a week.  I am not taking any pains pills and I am sleeping on my side, mostly on my left side.  My goal is 800 cc's (a full D) . We shall see,  the PS says my frame can take it.  I'm 5 ft. and thought small framed but I am a little overweight (used to be a triple D, mostly fat).  I figure as long as the skin is stretching and the expansions are working no need to miss a week unless the PS says not this time.  The Lat Flap was the best decision to have.  I am hoping my exchange will be sometime in October but at least before Christmas!! Smile

My challenge now is to nurse a fractured pinky toe.  Such a deal!!

    thanks for listening! :Smile

Sandy -  I used six pillows...one on each side and four soft ones to elevate me -my mountain. It works great for me.

Jenweg - You are 2 months since MX...I think you are okay to swim - yes it is going to be hot in PA....take a dip..enjoy!  Heck my PS said I could go in the pool one week after exchange but just go easy....so I just sat in a floating chair....just wanted to relax.

Did I understand that correctly?  Some use prophylactic antibiotics for women with breast implants when having dental surgery/procedures?(although not formally recommended by ADA).

I have MVP and have not required them... should i mention my implants to my dentist? We talked the SE of tamoxifen, and I'm due for Oopherectomy in Sept, so I'm thinking he should know the estrogen connection in relation to gums and dental health, but I never thot to discuss the implant status with him.

    What do you think?

So today is my 1 year cancerversary for my original diagnosis.  I was doing great today.  I visited a customer, got my Neulasta shot (no immediate SE's so far), went to Walgreen's and went grocery shopping.  Then, I got home and organized, cleaned...  I forgot my phone rang earlier, so I checked my messages.  It was the dermatologist's office, telling me to call them back.  Ugghhh...  I had a suspicious mole removed from my back last week.  My derm told me that if I don't hear from them in a week, I would be okay.  By the time I called them their office was closed, of course!!!  I hope it's nothing!  I don't need anything else!

ok, it's really late, I have been running around all week and I am exhausted:

mstar:  that's the best news I have heard all day!!! yippy for you!  I have to say, I am walking in circles with my one side at 500 cc's--ladies before me--how did you do it??!!

bigapple: I am hoping that they just need to drain fluid and you are done with it. Hope you feel better soon.

anniealso: I'm with bigapple using those glow in the darks as decoys LOL!!  so much fun I don't think I can take it.

sandy: no one ever told me to sleep sitting up I kind of just prop myself half up half down with a bunch of pillows and one of those t.v. sitting pillows and try to get comfortable.  it's just however I can sleep, really.  if I lay down and it hurts I just pad the bed till I can tolerate it.

kittycat: I put iodine on my moles and they seem to shrink them, even suspicious cancerous ones.  I found out about this on yahoo groups on an iodine thread and there is more info on breastcancerchoices.org regarding iodine.

packergirl: the phallic thing with the heart pasties and glow in the darks OMG!!

Kitty -- remember: you are receiving chemo -- which is the equivalent of blowing up a house to fix a lightbulb -- even if there IS something I'm thinking the chemo will take care of it.  I hope, though, that it is nothing to worry about.

Laura -- thank you for drawing my attention to Packer Girl's picture!  I saw it as a photo of two little girls and assumed it was her daughters... with your introduction to it looked closer: LOL!  I love the oranges!   That is a great photo to underscore the Ta Ta Sisterhood name :)

MBJ -- how interesting about the iodine!  I wil check out that site.  Thanks!

I will most definitely be PROUD to be the mascot!!!  EXCEPT...Not too sure I can fit oranges in my shirt.  Hmmmm...When we're in Vegas maybe since I don't have my nips yet I can get some stick on pasties...you know with the tassles.  Hopefully Susie and I will be up for it and we can give y'all a show!

Thanks to Laura naming us the TaTa sisterhood!  I would never have found y'all if she hadn't!  I love how we are all brought together!  Life IS good!  Cancer SUCKS, but life is good when you find lifelong friends!

    THE TATA SISTERHOOD ROCKS!!!

    HUGS! Jazzy

    DAWM & MBJ~Thank you!

Well she said she'll get a 300 implant in there and my daughter is a witness if she tries to deny it!! LOL.

I have to say MBJ,i'm a bit tender this morning. My previous 2 fills wrer my easiest yet but the inside edge of my TE's is sore today~just whyere the cleavage is. But i'm biting down! ha ha. so im at 450 ml now and with a bit of luck, she'll either do the full 60ml next time or maybe just take me up too 500ml total. Either way,i'll be happy as its 1 fill more than i thought i'd be getting!

Keep your fingers crossed she can get the MX or MF in! If its MM im asking for a refund! ha ha.

i dont think my new bikini's are going to fit now! I bought a UK size 12 top and it will only cover a little triangle of my boob! LOL . My boobs have evened out a little as they've got bigger. Its not til i looked back at all my pics that i realised it.The one that was higher has dropped down a bit.The left one is still off centre though and i still have the grand canyon sitting between them. The PS did mention the big gap yesterday so at least now she can see it herself!

In regards to the sleeping sitting up,  i was told by the nurse at the PS office.  She said something about helping fluids not to accumulate in the upper body, and helping the fluids to drain with the 2 drains i had.  They were position under the breast.

Besides, all my friends that had had breast augmentation had done the sleeping sitting up for 2 weeks at least.

After the BMX, even if i was tired of sleeping sitting up, i could not lay flat (or with 2 big pillows on my head) because of the pain, specially in the upper pole.  No pain if i just seat in at least 95 degree angle.

This time, i'm trying my best to keep sleeping in the 95 degrees angle, i put pillows on the side so they hold my head.  I can sleep well. Even during the day if i take naps, i do it sitting up, but the problem now is the lower back that is getting tired of holding the pressure of all the upper body for so long.

Oh ladies, I want a copy of the photo!!! I am a Ta Ta too, tho I can't go to  Vegas as it's my 25th anniversary with the hottie in the photo :).

I have put the glow in the dark nips on a boxing alien figurine I have in my bathroom.  His eyes already glow in the dark, but I thought it'd be nice if his eyes were nips.

I have stuck them on the bathroom mirror so that when my hubby stumbles into the br in the middle of the night he will see them :).

I have put them on my sisters' rear view mirror in her car.

I heartily reccomend them :).   But Laura can tell you all, I have an "alternative" sense of humor.

Putting them on Emma, my obese calico cat, is the best one yet.  It's happening and it may happen along with the fourth of July sunsuit I bought for her at Christmas Tree Shops.

re: the sleeping sitting up.  My PS said do whatever works....I had one of those back rests and padded it with about 4 pillows, and then multiple teeney pillows tucked in around me.

Good luck! M-Star, I am glad you are feeling better!

I need some advice. I went out of network for my PS.  The insurance specialist from the office told me it would be $6-8K out of pocket for everything.  The PS convinced me with the LD flaps I would get a better result and he  came so very  hightly recommended and I felt I could swing that.  Then DH lost his job. After the BMX and before the exchange the insurance specialist called me and said- it was 6500 for the BMX and 4500 for the exchange.  I told her what she said originally. Now yesterday I got a bill for over $13,000  and that did not include the exchange!!!!!  I need some advice. I called the office yesterday to speak to the insurance specialist and never got a call back- I will call again soon today.  I still need nips and tats and really would like to continue with the PS but I feel like I was duped!

Please post when you get the word on it, OK?

Geneskirt - sorry if I confused you.  What I meant to say was there are some women who will report that they take antibiotics for dental work but the ADA does not list breast implants as an indication for premedication.  In my office, I do not have patients take antibiotics unless they have had a joint replaced (knee or hip), a heart transplant or heart valve replacement.

Hope you have a good tooth check up.  Please let me know if you have nay additional questions.

Karyn, it makes sense not to take antibiotics unless it is the standard of care recommendation.  We have created too many antibiotic resistant infections, like MRSA, as you said  b/c people insist on taking antibiotics when they don't need  them like for viral upper respiratory infections and sadly, doctors will prescribe them

Waldo -- have you checked the American Cancer Society website for info re: assistance on medical costs?  For some reason I recall reading (here somewhere?) once that the ACS can sometimes help people in need.  This sounds like such a situation in that when you started your DH had a job and now he doesn't.

Hey Jazzy, if you need pasties to be our mascot, we can go to Agent Provocateur in the Forum shops and get some for you.  That's where I got my red sequin heart-shaped pasties with the tassels, and they have plenty of other styles for you to choose from, LOL! I'm sure you'll find something you like!

    Waldo and others,

You are all so nice.  I was hesitant to post anything on the subject of dental visits bc on other sites I would have been flooded with replies by people suggesting they know more than me.

You guys are awesome and very welcoming.  Have a good weekend.

Was it here that someone asked about exercising?  My PS just told me at my 6 week post op (still have TEs) that I may freely exercise - let pain be my guide, but there are 3 exercises he wants me to avoid forever - push-ups, bench pressing and butterflys - these pull/strengthen the pec muscle and he says we have worked too hard to get the TEs/implants in the right place and these exercises cause them to migrate toward the armpits.  Some ladies have ignored his advice and are ok, but he has seen too many whose implants end up under their armpits.  Just something else to think about.  Has anyone else had their PS tell them this?

Valerie - Yep, my ps said exactly the same thing.   I've been able to tailor my pilates and weight work to not overly stress the pecs.  I certainly have NO intention of messing up my ps's handiwork....or going through ANOTHER revision!      (from the other Valerie  Smile)
