Sorry, me again.
Just wanted to step in to clarify that MY administrators at my school were not initially supportive. Many administrators are very supportive of their employees. My administrators became supportive when I proved to them I could do the job and that I wasn't going to retreat. I think that it is a matter of educating others on BC and showing people what we can do, and not dwellinng on what we cannot do. That is so challenging when you don't feel well.

I too had diarrhea after one of the cycles.. took immodium and ate rice and apples and toast.. and it went away..
Today's tx was a bit rough.. my liver enzyme number is slowly creeping up.. it's within the normal, but toward the top.. and I'm worrying 'what if' I stopped responding.. but the nurses and dietician are upbeat and say there are too many variables including chemo straining my already sick liver.. so not to worry unless the shoot up!! my scan is in late July so we'll see..
Neuropathy is BAD BAD lately.. keeps tingling.. thank Gd not numb.. but I am going to increase the dose of my supplements again.. and hope for the best..
Nausea today.. first time in 14 tx.. so I guess I won't complain.. but how much ginger can a girl eat before it goes away!!
Hope everyone had a good day.. will be back tomorrow...

Hi Brat352--
Just a quick note. The acne/pimples might be from the steroids if you are receiving them. I had terrible reactions to Decadron and that was one of them. I've only been bothered by mild acne for most of my life but WOW- after first dose- they developed everywhere- eyelids, scalp, even my ears. (You often hear of athletes taking steroids having acne....exactly how I busted my younger brother when I suspected he was taking them when in a weight lifting craze- he had the same acne reaction.) My dose was cut waay down and then competely out as I had other issues with them. Not sure if that's an option for you or not, but something to ask about?
Also diarrhea-- I had a terrible problem with this too and tried everything- BRAT diet etc. Finally, stool sample was taken and learned I had a big C Diff infection--- chemo disrupts that natural flora of good/bad bacteria which naturally occur in our gut and it allowed the bad stuff to grow unchecked. Was given Flagyl (sp??), which made me feel sicker than chemo. Long story short- after much research- tried lactobacillus (in pill form, more concentrated than what's in yogurt-it's the "good" bacteria) and it did the trick in a matter of days. Something else maybe to try? I don't think it can hurt.

Hi Everyone
Thanks for the reaccurance of my doctor's recommendations. It's gonna be tough getting life back to a normal but knowing others have done it makes it easier.
Hi Brat352
I take Shaklee's Probiotic everyday and during my treatments would take 2 sometimes 3. I had only 1 episode of trush the 1st AC treatment so I let the probiotic dissolve in my mouth along with taking some and the next day it was gone. My doctor wanted me to fill the prescription I had but I wanted to see if I could do it more naturally and it worked. After that I made sure I took alot of Probiotic and never had any problems after. Also I think it helped my whole digestion and other issues by keeping my good bacteria in check. It's worth trying and certainly can't hurt. As far as your hair - mine started falling out exactly 14 days after the first treatment and I shaved my head 4 days later. Once it started it came out very quickly. The lady who made my wig suggested I wait until it started to fall out before I shaved my head - said I would accept it better and she was right. I was ready - I did it on Christmas Eve Day.
Glad it's finally looking and feeling like summer. Rain finally gone for awhile and looks good. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow.

HI Girls...just a quick hello to everyone here. Oh it looks like it will be a warm sunny day today. Hot and sunny just the way I like it. No boating this week as I am getting ready to leave town to my favorite place LV. It's a girl's road trip. yeah !! Looking forward to having lots of fun. You know the old saying... what goes on in LV stays in LV lol.
Yes, there is life and fun after treatment. Our bodies have been threw the mill with surgery, chemo, rads, md appts and taking various meds. Taking one day at a time, doing things that you enjoy, spending time with family and friends will get you back in the swing of life. We didn't ask to get bc...it choose us. I have found wonderful friends and remarkable women who also have had this diseased. Yes, we have our daily roller coaster of emotions but in the end we are still here. Life is good...so go out and enjoy.!!
So to those in tx hang in there. There is life after this bc ride just waiting for you to enjoy. To everyone one else I hope you are enjoying this sunny day. It looks like a tops down fists up kind of day. Well I have lots to do today, so I am off to PT now for my chest swelling which is getting so much better. Will ck back later.
Have a great day everyone...Remember to be healthy.....be happy. Enjoy life.

Hi All!
Ginny - sorry to hear that you had a rough week.
Just got back from my first chemo. 1 down - 5 to go! I'm feeling pretty good but we'll see how I feel on Saturday - LOL.
My mom gave me some great CDs to listen to - very relaxing - sounds of the ocean, water, mountains, etc. Put the ocean on today and laid down for awhile after chemo. Couldn't sleep but did relax.
Take care and enjoy the beautiful day!

Did everyone make it through that terrible storm. I had to drive to Peotone to pick up my daughter. It was really bad. I hope you are all ok

I was on Navy Pier during the storm. Everyone crowded into the Childrens' Museum and were told to stay away from windows. Of course I had to look and it looked like the Poseidon Adventure! Anyone old enough to remember that movie? So it was scary but fun. My niece and nephew from Vietnam originally are visiting with me and we are have a ball!
Hope all are well.

Hi Ladies...what a storm we had up north. We had 70 mile high winds, down trees and power lines too. I also saw a boat that sunk. The only part left up was the end. How sad for that owner to come back to the lake and see his beloved boat gone. We were sitting at my son's restaurant when it hit. Like Zap said the water ripped up very high, large white caps crashing the shore line and windows. Then no power. So we sat there for a while, had a few drinks then they closed the restaurant because the power was not going to be restored until very late tonight. My son was so sad because he had a wonderful dinner planned for us and the other 150 people that were there too.
Well I hope you all try to stay dry tonight. Looks like it will be a hot one here tomorrow. If nice I will be on the lake sunning. Have a wonderful evening and remember to be healthy...be happy and enjoy the weekend.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quickie here to say I hope everyone came through that storm as well as Buddy and Bj seemed to have. Sounds like it made some tense moments for all of you. Hopefully, that will be the last of these for a bit.
Thought we were going to have something but the dark clouds drifted about for a bit and then went away. Guess we could still see something --- but they miss the predictions as much as they get right....so who knows.
Hope you all stay safe, dry and have a good nights sleep. I'll see you all in the morning.
Love, Jackie

That was quite a storm! Wow!...Our electricity JUST came back on. We have been without elec since 3:00 yesterday afternoon. No phones, computer, radio, TV, NOTHING! The storm here was absolutely FRIGHTENING! Me, dh, Paulie & Zero (our cat) took shelter in our concrete closet in the basement. Honestly...I thought our house and us were history. I have never seen wind that strong. When it finally stopped...OMG! Trees, branches, leaves everywhere. Our backyard is trashed! All of the people around here were just walking around the streets shaking their heads. Amazing. Our tree dude came by last night to survey the damage...it ain't gonna be cheap! But thank goodness everyone's alive. LOL

Morning! Wow....what storms. We lost power at 4pm, came back on at 9 so not too bad. Funny tho...the storm hadn't hit yet and the power went....very annoying! Everything looks ok, just need to move a few things back.
Laura.....you probably had phones, just didn't have an old one! You know, not cordless. I have a very old phone that I kept...when the power goes, I just plug that one in as it doesn't require electricity. That way....I can keep calling com ed and checking. Looks like you had some damage, girl!
BJ....wild and wooly up by you too! Actually....I thought you were in LV!
Budders....congrats on the good labs! Enjoy the wine....
Carolyn/Brat.....how's the chemo going? Hopefully you two are doing ok.
JulieChicago....hopefully this finds you feeling better and this is the place to come and complain. No one gets this all better than we do! Let us know how you are doing.
Ginny...I am so sorry things have not been going well for you. I am hoping with all my heart that next week is so much better.
Off to shower up and start my day....have a wonderful Satruday everyone...looks like the weather will be MUCH better....hot, but dry at least.

I'm in the same boat as Laura.. just got our electricity back 25 min ago.. no air, no water, phones, internet... Some of the neighbors have back-up generators that were buzzing all night.. not US.... At least our sump pump battery held up!! WOW.. Doesn't look like we have as much damage outside as Laura... and looks like it's over.. so we can still have a decent father's day.. Hopefully our food didn't spoil!!!

Laura, It looks like you had one of those micro bursts. Unbelievable how much damage you had . If I lived closed I could help you clean up.

When the transformers "blew" - OMG - I almost had a heart attack! Have any of you ever heard that? It's like an explosion followed by a burst of light. Waaaaaaaaaaay scarey!

Good morning,
Quite a storm you all had up North. Your yard looks a little sad this morning Laura, but you'll get it back together I'm sure. Hope everyone else came through w/o damages or minor ones if so.
We did get rain through the night but no evidence of wind....and it was not a noisy storm either. No thunder etc. All in all rather peaceful --- just a gentle summer rain at night. Like the North though, we are under a heat advisory though it was pleasant outside a while ago. Not going to be a fun day heat wise.
I'll be checking in later. Hi to all -- that is for Wendy TY as well as Mary Jane, and Ginny too. See you all later.
Hugs, Jackie

infection...
My Mom had 101 fever, long story short, she is in the hospital icu for infection...they were surprised how she was doing this morning....at 4 am they told me to tell family critical....... i should have been prepared for something like this but how can you ever prepare.?
She kept saying dont call the dr and no dont call the ambulance, being the third kid who always listened to Mom it was very hard, i should have sent her off sooner but finally she said okay after i got help to clean her up for the medics to come. She was incoherent but is coherent today, Thank God. Luckily I found a friend to come help.
Kater
(ovarian cancer since 1998, chemo since dec 2007; new cancer oct 2009) Her mom was 104.75 when she died...so the drs. usually say Her genes have done well...

Kater ((hugs))- I hope your Mom will be out of the hospital soon. She sounds like one fiesty lady!
That storm was scary. Laura, glad you are okay. We had a lot of branches and small limbs down, but nothing hit the house. One of our neighbors had a tree come down on the side of their house- put a hole in the 2nd story! Our power was out for about 12 hours. Laura, we have a transformer in front of our house- it's blown at least 5 times since we moved in. It's quite a show with the sparks, bang, and smell of ozone!
I've been really busy with work and our 2nd home in Brevard. Just to prove that there is a WONDERFUL life after cancer- not only did we find the perfect home to retire to, but the finest Bed and Breakfast in the area is using it as an annex when we are not there. If all goes as planned, that will pay the mortgage, bills, taxes, and leave us with extra. What a difference from 3 years ago when I was just ending 9 months of chem treatment, surgery, and radiation. Life really IS good.

When is the next lunch/dinner?- I need some time with my BC sisters.
Healing thoughts and good vibes to all going through treatment.

Hi All!
Just a brief note. It's my 3rd day after chemo. I'm hit with fatigue but nothing more. I'm drinking and eating protein. I've been in bed most of the entire day. Taking the medication has definitely helped. We'll see what the next two days brings.
Take Care!

Ginny - I'm sorry you're having such a rough time with the bone pain. Crossing my fingers it eases up for you soon.
Kater - I hope you're mom gets well soon and is able to leave the hospital. She does sound like a fighter.
Just wanted to check in and say hi to everyone. Laura - Your poor yard! Thank goodness you were all safe and sound though. I was not being very smart when the storm hit and actually ran outside to try and stack up my lawn chairs. Stupid! A huge gust came and literally blew me off my feet and into the chairs. I started panicking that a tornado was about to hit because it was SO BAD all of a sudden, I was worried I wasn't going to make it back inside the house. I did, of course... lesson learned. Storms outside = Me inside.
Our power went out the same time as Wendy's - right before the storm hit. My son was driving home and actually saw lightning hit a pole on Elgin-O'Hare.
I had my mammo last week and fortunately all was good. I wish they did the foob side too, as I still have concerns about some lumpiness I feel there. Seeing my onc and surgeon this week, so will discuss with them then. My last MRI (of both boob and foob) was just fine, so hopefully it's just scar tissue.
The MRI I had recently of my c-spine and head were negative for mets, but the bone spurs in my neck are still giving me enough regular pain through the base of my skull and rt. shoulder that I think I'm going to see a pain specialist to possibly have the joint injected. I don't want surgery, and it certainly isn't getting any better. A few co-workers have gone to this pain group and all were very pleased with the results.
I've been working out and dieting, slow but sure, and it appears to actually be working. I've lost a few pounds, but still have more to go. Mostly, I just feel healthier in general after I work out.
What a gorgeous day this was. Hoping for the same tomorrow for Father's Day. All the best to everyone!
