Sic him Kay!  What a jerk.  Taking advantage of you like that.  Good for you for consulting a lawyer.

    Emme -- you go girl!

Laura -- LOVE hearing from you anytime you are always a burst of sunshine :)

Teresa -- yeah my understanding as well is that surgery to the reconstruction (including fixing anything that may go wrong even years later AND including when you have to replace it in 10+ years) will be covered.  You can always call your own insurance and confirm this if you are feeling doubtful.  I hope you're not having a problem!

Hope4future and Dawn-hope - When I drink something cold I too feel like it is running down the front of my chest - weird.  Wonder how chest will feel in the winter when it is really cold?

I have to laugh when a month ago I posted that I could hear the saline in my TEs swishing around - now there is no way they could swish - they are hard as can be and no room for swishing!!  Now I know how most of you couldn't understand the slosing I heard.  My DH accidentally elbowed me the other day and he thought he had hit my elbow not my foobs!  Too funny.

That bizarre feeling when I drink cold water has completely gone away - I had my BMX in Nov 2009, and I can't remember the last time I shocked myself with cold water.  I can even drink iced drinks, esp of the margarita variety.  I hope it goes away for you, too, ladies.

Soooo frustrating.. I went this morning to the surgery center and was all ready to go.  I had a small break out from the sun a chlorine which is not abnormal for me. I showed the anethesiolgist she thought it looked fine, show the nurse she thought so too.. But when the doctor came in he said there is not way I will operate with that RASH!  I wanted to cry.. Anyway, he gave me a steroid pack and told me to take it for a week. I will see him on Thursday in his office and if its gone we will reschedule..  Hopefully he will be able to schedule for some time next week if this mess all clears up! How disappointing  :(.

Kay- GIVE 'EM HELL and in your own words, what a TWAT!

Dawne-Hope- I used to have that same sensation with cold drinks.  Used to drive me crazy!  But, like Kristinka, it has completely gone away.

Teresa- I believe that it is a law that insurance has to cover all reconstruction, as well as any adjustments/replacements, throughout your life.  Not sure what happens, though, if you change insurance companies during that time.

jkz- So sorry things got postponed for you.  It's so hard for us to get mentally psyched to go through any surgery or procedure so I can imagine how frustrated you are.  You definitely don't want any complications, though.  Hope it works out for next week!

I don't notice that cold drink feeling any more either and haven't for several months. My BMX w/TEs was in Sept 09. But I cannot stand the way it feels when I get cold--that shivery feeling--hard to describe but I guess I'm gonna have to just get used to it!! And have a sweater or jacket on hand at all times LOL. Anybody else get that weird shivery feeling?

jkz:   What a bummer...hope your rash clears and you get rescheduled real soon!!

Well if this steroid doens't work I don't know what will! I have to take 6 pills today then 5,4,3,2 and 1 for the remaining days till Saturday.. It was quite a dissapointment! I see my PS this Thursday and then my next surgery is potentially scheduled for July 26... 2 more weeks. Speaking of Las Vegas I think that it would be great to have a gathering for all the breast cancer sisters to meet there one day there. Is this something that has ever happend in the past? I think it would be wonderful! :)

JKZ- sorry you were postponed...i hope you can reschedule soon!

Hannahbearsmom-  I get that shivery feeling too..Keep a sweater close by...so I can whip it on and off between hot flashes :). i don't get the cold drink sensation though.  When i get the shivery feeling that I am cold, my boobs hurt...almost the same sensation as when my nips would get really cold and borderline hurt.  Is that nipple phantom pain?

I had a fill today. I'm up too 800cc!  I had a talk with my PS and we decided that the larger saline implants are the way to go.  YIPPEE!  I can be larger than a B cup!  it just wouldn't suit my frame.  I feel so much better about the whole situation.

    Have a great evening everyone!

    Em

Oh my gosh.......I completely forgot about that weird cold sensation whenever I drank something really cold....see.....it DOES go away!    Now, I will say that after your exchange, cold air (especially outside) makes my foobs super cold and my pecs tense up.....first time it happened it kinda freaked me out, but it gets better.

Val:    I'm glad to hear that the cold/shivery/pec tightening feeling gets better! Here in NC, it can get pretty cold over the winter and then of course in summer everywhere I go the AC is blasting!

Emme:   Congrats on getting to 800cc--just think, now you are a little closer  to exchangeSmile. Take it easy.

Great Lilah I will check out the thread. I am interested. It sound like a lot of fun. Do you know off hand if anyone is from central to south jersey or if anyone flies out of phill airport? I bet you fly out of Newark airport.. If anyone is wondering JKZ stands for the names of my wonderful children.. Kaitlyn is 20 and my boys are 18 and 15.  All wonderful children.. Love them to death :)

I get that weird shivery feeling, too – even my arms start tensing when it's cold.  I always have a sweater/jacket with me, since apparently summer is not going to arrive in CA this year.  Supermarkets with their open refrigerator bins - what kind of cruel person invented that??  But, as I tested tonight, drinking frozen margaritas are never a problem!

Best wishes to you on rescheduling surgery, jkz.

    Hello,

I have recently been diagnosed with DCIS and am wanting information on nipple sparing reconstruction after mastectomy.  My PS is strongly against it but...............geez I don't want to  lose my nipples if I don't HAVE to!  I am about 2 hours away from Los Angeles and can go to any doctor I want to.  Any recommendations, suggestions MUCH appreciated.

Deekay, congratulations on getting your exchange!  I am truly happy for you!  You seem to be healing really fast, that is good to know.  I did not realize that you have a radiated side.  Laura massaged hers and that was how it stayed soft.  Ask your doctor about massage, maybe when you are completely healed.

Val, congratulations to you, too!!!  You are all done, aren't you?  Wow, it must feel great to be able to say that.

JKZ:  Your surgery was postponed because of a rash!  The same exact thing happened to me last Friday, and I am still really bummed about it.  At least your doctor will be available next week.  I still have my rash, and I don't know what's causing it.  It's hard to relax and pretend it's not there.

Robyn, there is a reason why your BS is strongly against nipple sparing - according to my doctor there are not any good studies out that prove that nipple sparing MX prevents BC recurrence as well as the more traditional MX that takes the nipple.  I had widespread DCIS and my doctor insisted upon taking the nipple.  He did a nice skin and areola sparing BMX with 1 1/3" incisions that are now completely hidden by my tattoos.  I guess it is accepted practice to spare the nipple when the MX is prophylactic.  I don't know if you have access to TimTam's photo forum, but you can see a lot of nice reconstructions there.  You may also PM me.  You will find that some surgeons do  perform the nipple sparing MX on BC patients, so there is professional disagreement about this.

Hi everone--been gone a few days, enjoying some time with my family before returning to work today. I am exhausted! Yes,  would love to collect some more bras for Ugandan women. My friend is over there right now, so it may be a year before she goes back again. I can collect them and get them to Sarah, or you can always donate them to homeless shelters or women's shelters--all good causes. IM me if you need my address. Thanks so much!

    Just wanted to share:

There is a new docudrama coming out in the fall called "1 a Minute" letting people know one women dies every 68 seconds from breast cancer somewhere in the world.  Here's hoping it is a success and helps the cause!
