Hi. I was hoping someone might be able to help me with a question that I posted in another area of this forum. It was suggested I might try posting it in Exchange City. Here goes:Has anyone had an exchange surgery preformed not using the original incisions? I had a bilateral mastectomy on Feb 2 of this year. My exchange is scheduled for July 28. I have been dealing with thin skin problems--slow healing, raw, pink skin that occasionally opens. I will say that it has been two weeks since I have had any oozing spots on my bra. Progress! I went to see my dermatologist and she suggested that I should consider having new incisions for the exchange. I was hoping to have nipple reconstruction and my dermatologist was concerned that there would be too little blood flow in that area. Just looking for some guidance from someone who has dealt with something similar.Thanks,Giselle0

Laura - thinking of you!

Giselle: My exchange incisions were close to the inframammary fold, under my Mx incisions. They were not in the same place. JUDY0

Kate: Those dogs are too cute. Are they puppies?
Laura: Hang in now!! The results are slmost in! JUDY

Laura - I am thinking of you and your son. Hugs are going out to your whole family!
Ladies - I have been away for almost 2 weeks. We went hiking in Norway, what a lovely country with lovely people! If you have any new surgery dates please PM me and I will gladly add them.
Hugs to you all! - Jean

Wow sounds incredible Jean! I've been to Denmark so I have some idea of what Norway might be like... what a great trip!

Delilahbear - I also have some "amnesia". Mine is regarding my chemotherapy. I can hardly remember how I felt with it -- especially the AC, all I remember is that it was worse than Taxol. I think it is our brain's way of trying to protect us. Amazing!

Judy- My "puppies" just had their 5th birthday on the 16th! (Is it weird that I know when their birthday is?)
Jean- Norway!!! Sounds like heaven! (Of course, I'm in Phoenix, it's 117* so just about anything sounds like heaven!) Hope you had a great time!
Tomorrow I get these annoying, itchy Alloderm stitches out that are making me so cranky! (At least that is what I tell my DH is making me cranky! Who really knows!) Am still not crazy about my results, but Deborah tells me I just need everything to settle down. (Not the first time I've heard that in my life! LOL!)

Hello Ladies,
I am relatively new to the site, and I have a question.
Where on this site can I find information about bras for a person with tissue expanders? My old bras do not fit anymore, i restarted work recently and am very uncomfortable (esp by the end of the day).i remember seeing this info, but can't find it any more. Are there any online sites?
Thank you.

Giselle: I am hoping some of the other ladies here can give their input for you, too. I noticed that Judy responded and she has been through quite a bit with hers, so she would know!
Kate: 117 degrees! OUCH!!!
Jean: Norway sounds lovely. One more place to add to my travel list!
Delilahbear: I once read that women are born with amnesia otherwise we would never get married or have more babies! I have more then amnesia, I can't even remeber what I said or did five minutes ago.

Cute dogs everybody - I have a 12 year old Pug - Elvis.
Trytostaypositive - Since I had my tissue expanders in I have been wearing a bra "Fruit of the Loom" Sport, front-close racerback, style #90055. It has kind of been stretching with me and the PS wanted some type of supportive bra, day and night - he approved it and asked where I got it. Two for $10 at Wal-mart -worth a try. I just bought a couple more today as I think they will be comfortable immediately following exchange. They close in the front, I wear them with tennis clothes, gym clothes and everyday clothes.

Trytostaypositive -- there is a Bras 101 thread (don't remember the exact name but try searching Bras 101). I wore an Underscore, zip front sports bra (stretchy) while TE was being expanded and that worked fine for me. I wore my old size because I'm a uni and needed the support for my remaining breast. The TE didn't really need a bra. Do you have two TEs or one?

Oh here's the link to the Bra thread -- it's for post-exchange but it can't hurt to ask there:

Brenda, I went to see the dermotologist and he said that its a bacterial infection called folliculitis. He actually put me on an antibiotic for the next 7 days twice a week and gave me a cream. SOOOOO, my surgery is not going to be on Monday the 26th any longer it is now rescheduled once again for Wednesday, August 2. I guess better safe than sorry. The dermo did said that he wouldn't recommend doing surgery on someone with this because it's a staff infection. So I guess my PS made a smart decision and I ave to wait another 2 weeks. I guess its better thatn getting another infection though. Wish me luck {{{}}}

Jennifer -- glad you saw the derm and that the rash has been identified! Now with the treatment it will hopefully clear up and you can finally make your way to yippee squishy

Trytostay -- you are welcome.

What sweet doggies!!!!!!!! /' .'\ my dog Smudge is stuck to me like glue...I don't know what I would do without him.....
Went to my cardiologist and gp. So seems like I have "Broken Heart Syndrome". I will most likely be able to bring my heart back up to normal with medication. I am on a Beta Blocker and Ace Inhibitor to help heal my heart and keep my heart from freaking out
My cardiologist says I will probably be up to speed in about 6 months. He says I have lost about 30% of my heart strength....geez
But he was very optimistic about my return to health and that's all good

So I'm ok
Thanks so much for all the kindness and good wishes....Laura I am hoping you receive good news for your sweet son ♥
Strength, healing and comfort,
Laura2

Laura2: You must feel better now that you have a plan for treatment. Your broken heart might even heal sooner than 6 months, you never know..
Jennifer: Did your dermatologist suggest that you use sensitive soap? I had folliculitis while going through chemo, and I had it on my scalp. My ONC only prescribed Dove Sensitive. It's a good thing that your PS cancelled your surgery when he did. My mysterious rash is finally almost gone.
This is my Angus. He is a Scottish Terrier. He may as well be Dr. Angus, because months before my first Dx. he would bury his muzzle in my armpit and give me a strange look!

Laura -- did this happen because of chemo (or Herceptin if you were on it? Whatever caused it I'm glad to hear that time and treatment can heal you!

Jizo, so glad thing's are moving ahead in a good way for you. You deserve relief and good health.
Laura, can't wait to hear results for you son. Thinking of you and your family...
Brenda, good news for you!!! Yay!!!!!!!
Giselle, my exchange was done under my breasts, not in previous mast. scars.
Best to everyone, deekaay.

Brenda: Another beautiful dog. I have to say ladies, this dog has better hair then I do and it's really beginning to get me down!
Laura2: I'm glad they finally found out what your rash was. Staph infections are nothing to mess around with when it comes to exchange surgery. Here's hoping you heal up quickly--both the rash and your heart.

Gisella.. sweetheart.. I am sorry you have to fret with this..(
I will tell you what I know.
Yes, it is pretty common to have another incision site for Exchange. When our skin is too thin... and has any issues healing.. another incision area is best. You can hide this one under your breast.
As for the future nipple.....
if your skin has healing issues, that are bad... and just might do it again if you choose to have a nipple done..... you might want to look into 3D nipple/areola tattoo's.
This second idea works wonderfully.
If you want an more info on 3D nipple tattooing.... PM FACECRAFTER here on BCO..She can give you info on this.......
If you wanna chat about this skin healing issue further with me... Please feel free to PM me... I will talk with you about it in private.
I hope I have helped you some .
