Morning! It's going to be a scorcher out there today! Hope to hang at my friend's pool this afternoon. Although...a true sign of Fall is taking place: acorns are falling from the trees onto my deck. Quite LOUD. It sounds like rocks are falling. I will have to wear a hard hat while gardening. lol Yikes!
Sounds like everyone had a nice weekend. dh and I are heading to the "Y"...have a great Monday!

Morning! Gonna be hot out today but that's ok...nothing to shovel (except maybe Laura's acorns)
I hope I have this correct as my auto bd notes has been screwing up....
Happy Birthday Rita!!!!! Have a great one! Can't yet figure out photobucket on this little netbook but imagine a ginormous bd cake pic with candles!
Ginger...what a wonderful man to have in your life! You are so lucky and it sounded like it was exactly what you needed. And he was right....so you are bald...it is what it is! Whatevah!!!!!! Good for him and great for you....
Marina....how's the nanny business going? I sure hope for your sake that things change for the better! And chance you could entice your old nanny back?????
I remember my last chemo...danced out of the room. I danced out of rads. I could not wait until my year of herceptin was up and I danced out of there too...already had made my port removal sppt. THEN....about 2 months or so later...I felt frozen. Even tho I was now on arimidex I never realized how much I was counting on the Herceptin to be my ticket to a "cure". Took me a looooong time before I felt better and I am assuming that even tho I am anxiously awaiting August 2012 so I can stop arimidex there is a part of me that is already scared to stop. Oh well.....it's the nature of this beast I guess...
WendyTY...good luck with chemo today! You will def. kick cancer-butt with your protocol. Wishing you an easy time but still wish you didn't have to go thru this again. I am gonna look for those old pix of you from last go around...and I think you know which ones I mean! Hmmmmmm....should I repost them????? LOL! You looked "stunning" my dear...simply "stunning"! Keep up your attitude...it will get you thru..
Things to do, house to clean, launry to fold/iron, Scotts Lawn Service to murder! Have a wonderful day all!

Jackie: vascular invasion means that microscopic bad cells got into the veins in the breast. The chemo and radiation was meant to kill them off. Vascular invasion is not desirable as it means it may travel through the blood even though it was not in the nodes. I have so little control about that!
I misunderstood the maternity leave. It would be an 8-week and not the 90 days. So that is good and I took it. I cannot believe how these young moms give birth and then return to work so quickly. I love the teacher I am subbing for and we share the same kind of teaching style. Just returned from Calico Corners with my new fabric for my new curtains. I just am able to get things accomplished when I know I have deadlines!
Love you all!
Susan

How do they know if you have vascular invasion? I've been doing searches on that for weeks.

Lago- I think that will be on your pathology report post surgery.

Happy Birthday Rita!!!
So much going on today.. and after all the search and trying to schedule appointments with surgeons, my Onc recommended I get a mammogram and ultrasound first to see if there is anything there to cut.. yes, I agree and am thrilled.. they have always been so concerned about the liver that we've never looked at the breast since Feb.. So next Wed I'll know more.. though just the thought of going back to where it all started creeps me out.. even rescheduled for a different day of the week...
My current Nanny has definitely gotten the message.. she's doing SOOO much better so at least I don't worry about leaving the baby when I need to take care of other things..
So hot out.. and my son is sick.. but he's one of those that went to school anyways.. because he doesn't want to miss and make things up.. he wasn't feeling well but then his pediatrician still gave him his gardicil shot on Sat.. so wondering if that gave him a fever.. poor kid.. also means I don't get to see him or his sister until he is better..

Happy Birthday, Rita. I sure hope you are enjoying your day! You deserve it!
Onc visit went well. No concerns and bloodwork looked fine. We discussed the bone density issue. He agreed with my primary in that we could try to manage it with calcium and vit D and didn't see a need for the Actonel. He did understand why the gyne wanted to be proactive though as I am so young. He ordered another Vit D check and said if it was still low he might put me on the Vit D boost - 50,000 iu's a week for 8 weeks. Isn't that what you did Wendy??
Thinking of you WendyTY!

Hi All!
Happy Birthday Rita!
Hi Laura - I've got two more chemos to go. Next chemo is next week Wednesday! I think I should be done with my antibiotic before then so I'm hoping that my little trip to the ER won't mess up my schedule.
Lago - good luck with surgery tomorrow. You're in my prayers.
Take Care!

Hi All,
I have not posted in so long, I do not know where to start. First, welcome to all the new gals to the group.
I started out the summer with my first real bout of LE. I was in the sun Memorial Day weekend which kinda started the ball rolling and then, ironically, I did the Cancer Survivor Walk for Northwestern Hospital the following weekend. It is a horribly humid day and a four mile walk. I called the dr. the next day and told them that my hand was unrecognizable. My LE was always worse with my hand than my arm. I did to physical therapy until mid-July. I have a variety of gloves that I wear. It has been pretty managable and am hoping the cooler, dryer air of fall will help it. Actually today it appears a little puffy. If it becomes unmanagable, I will have to do the wrapping like Laura did earlier this spring. That is a last resort for me.
I did make my first trip to New York this summer and look forward to going back. Am planning Disney now for our trip in October.
I do keep up with many of you on facebook and am looking forward to the Komen walk and hope to see many of you there. We had a great time last year and hope to meet more of you this year.
I see the onc on Wednesday and am thinking about asking for a bone scan. I have aches and pains and am sure they are a part of getting older, but I think I would sleep better at night knowing that they are just a part of getting older. I just fear the stress of waiting for the results will be too much for me. I will talk to the dr. about it. He does not do routine scans or blood work.
WendyTY thinking of you and wishing you all the best.
Ginny keeps showing up as a "friend" recommendation on facebook, it makes me sad. I never met her, but followed her journey.
My older son went to U of I this year. It is his third year of college, but he commuted to Lewis University for his first two years. It is very weird here without him and my little guy really misses having him around.
Hoping we do a dinner soon, I really enjoy meeting up with the group.
Happy Birthday Rita.
Lisa

Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life, to be needed.
