I thought the MRI was lovely and relaxing after having the stereotactic biopsy.  Now that is medieval!  Not only is your boob hanging down the hole, it's in a vise.  Then I bled for so long after and the nurse was under the table pulling at my boob trying to get the bleeding to stop.  I truly felt like a cow at milking time.

LOL Firni I have to agree -- your biopsy sounds a LOT like mine.  I was lying there with my boob through a hole and I hear the radiologist say: "There's blood!" with panic in her voice... and there is all this rustling and wiping and I can't see a bloody thing (ha).  I think she hit a blood vessel because I developed a huge hematoma from it. 

MRI was not fun either.  Tech handed me ear plugs and the machine was loud and he kept talking to me via a microphone and I couldn't hear him with the damned ear plugs in!  It lasted an interminably long time and I got very claustrophobic.  I am doing an open MRI next time.  Or I'm taking drugs

I just recently got my exchange date.  It will be on Oct. 27.  The doctor said I will not have to have drains  He also told me I would be able to go back to work 8 days later.  I'm an elementary school librarian.  I was wondering how long I will have to wear the front-close surgical bra before I can go back to wearing a regular bra?  Also, I assume I will have to go back to wearing shirts that button in the front.  I bought several for my bmx in June, but they are all short sleeve.  By the end of October, it could be cool here in Dallas.  Will I need to buy some long sleeve shirts that button in the front and how long will I have to wear them?

Ann - I only had to wear the surgical bra for two days but my implant is small.  I took two weeks off from work but could have returned after a few days.  Range of motion much better after the exchange than the mx.

Best of luck - the implant feels so much better than the expander.

I have been reading this site daily for a while.  Thank you for your support.  I think I did post a few times ANYWAY... I had my BMX on June 23rd.  I am scheduled for my exchange this Thursday, Sept.23rd.  It seems so much faster than a lot of what I read.  I was supposed to get Mentor CPGs but the hospital where it was to be done is outside my insurance's network.  Because Mentor CPG is still part of a study it is only approved at certain hospitals.  My approved hospital is on a waiting list.  I am now scheduled for Mentor High Profile.  I really like my PS and he is confident this will be good for me.  I am getting nervous...I do trust him BUT i don't want to be high and fake looking.  I have been so down lately and I don't complain because I SHOULD be happy the cancer is gone and I will have new boobs.  I liked my old boobs.  Sorry to whine

Kitwe:  Have you ever contacted Whippetmom for her advice on Breast Implant Sizing 101?  I highly recommend it!  It made my exchange a breeze and perfect for my body size and shape.

Ann:  The kind of bra I had to wear I couldn't hide under anything at all because it gave me weird centered torpedo boobs plus had this additional strap that stuck out in the middle!  Had to wear it for 3 weeks 24/7 and now just at night!  I hope yours is more normal, like a sports bra.

LOL!! Worse, because it moved them to some weird point in the middle!  They looked like transmitters to space.

Okay... funny thing happened to me today.  Well, you know those pictures I posted on the picture forum?  Well, I had them on my laptop and had just put them there for the posting.  Well, I'm a Realtor and today I was holding an open house.  Some clients walked in and I wanted to show their son a picture of my daughter (they go to the same middle school and he didn't know who she was) so I pulled a picture of her up on my laptop.  Well, about a half-hour later after they showed great interest in the house, I go back to the table where my laptop is to write down some info. The man is checking out the kitchen right behind me and lo and behold, I look at my laptop screen and there's a full-size picture of my breasts...... I just about died.  Well, I slammed the cover down and yelled "oh my god, did you see that?"  I was so embarrassed.  He said "no, why?"  Whew.... that was close.  Apparently, my screen saver goes to all the pictures I have in the picture folder.  Okay, so I have now moved them outta there.

I am going to see my regular doctor today as I think I have infection around my nipple on the lifted side. I had pus coming out on Friday and Sat. where the stitches were. Hubby says I have to go in and have it looked at. It looks better today, but it's been 3 weeks and I figured my stitches should be healed. I have to have my vitamin D levels checked anyway, so I called my oncologist to order the test today and do it all at once. Always something going on, can't things just heal and go right for once?

wow, thanks everyone for saying such nice things...I do tend to crack myself up, but usually it's only me, laughing in the corner, like a hyena with perfect strangers edging ever so gently away from me.......

Ray of sunshine, no.  Laura, love, that is YOU.  I am only a Goofy lady that has had an awful lot of diverse bc txtmnts and surgeries so that I love to see if I can pay it forward and help a sister....yes. .

I'm sorry, but the one of the boob photos on the laptop made me snort coffee out of my note, I was laughing so hard.  I think I need a new keyboard.

For what it's worth, I had a needle biopsy and I still think the whole procedure is positively medieval, indeed.  The hoots hanging down, the biopsies are simply inhumane, and trust me, I medicate and next time I'm drinking a shot also.  Let's hope there is no next time, for any of us.

MJB, if you have your dr. get you a script, for an open MRI, you can get one.  It's just that none of us think to ask, we are usually so shell shocked.

I'm still giggling over the laptop.  Priceless.  I said to my hubby at the time that since the entire eastern seaboard medcial community has probably seen my boobs by now, I should just go for a billboard showing them with an 800 number for anyone who missed them.  JIC.  Since I tend to feature a slighty overripe slut type of look, it'd be just fine.

vanderlady- I wouldn't worry if the guy saw your photos.  I've seen your results on the picture forum and you're gorgeous!  Who knows?  He might just buy the house thinking he'll get another chance to peek at your computer!  LOL!

horsegal- Sorry about the infection.  Sometimes it feels like nothing comes easy, huh?  Hope your doctor can take care of it quickly!
