I started a thread asking members who consider this site to be invaluable to consider making a donation to BCO.  The Moderators ask us to "spread the word" and since this is the most popular thread I know I thought I'd post the link here-

Thank you all, each and every one of you, for the great laugh--it would have been a turkey sandwhich coming out of my nose except that I have some sort of flu virus so nothing can get through all of the snot LOL!

Vanderlady:  Whenever I leave my laptop open, there are my breasts, flashing everrywhere, too.  I have yet to be caught by anyone but my husband, though, and let's just say even he was, honey!!!! your breasts are on your computer!!! LOL!!!

Anneialso:  You aways give us a smile just when we need a lift!  You are the second person who has mentioned an open MRI, and I didn't know that they even existed!  I will surely remember when that comes around again.

MBJ, I'm with you on fears of MRI's.  I find the best way to go thru one is to close your eyes tight before you are even rolled into it, and not take a single peak.  then try to think of calm happy places in your mind.  I usually think about walking on a beach.

Best to all recovering and with surgeries coming up!!  In a few weeks I'll be getting tats and DONE!

and I have to agree, anniealso, I love your posts:)

A thought re the MRI's.  MBJ, don't think this would help you with the clausterphobia, but my mom was a singer and a musician and the first time she was in one of those things (she was stage IV in 2000, lost her last November) she came out telling me of all the songs she sang in her head due to the different 'beats' you hear in that thing.

I remembered that last year when I had my MRI and while, yes, it made me laugh lying there, I kept listening to the pinging and different songs did come into my head.  I even made one up.  I can't remember it, I'll look back in my journal to see if I can find it ... but for those who are musically inclined, thinking up songs that go with the rhythm can be a helpful distraction.

Although, when the thing begins to sound like a jackhammer, there isn't a song in the world that can help with that noise!  :)

DawneHope:  That is so wonderful that you had that experience and memory from your mom!  I was actually a professional singer/musician/songwriter for 15 years and I gotta say, nothing can cure me of my claustrophobia:  Even if I am watching a movie where someone is in a tight spot I break out in hives and start hyperventilating!    Cannot pay me to get back in one of those things.  I can endure maybe 10 minutes for a regular MRI but the 45-60 min once for the breasts--no way!!  I was in such a panic.  I don't have many fears, but I also will never scuba dive for the same reason.  Terrifies me!  Weird, huh?  Oh, not to mention, I had a stiff neck for a month affterwards!

Dawne Hope: I think that memory of your mom is absolutely beautiful....I am going to try that in the old tube next time.  I am deeply sorry for your loss.  I know she is looking out for you from heaven.

MBJ, we will get you thru this, we will find you an open one, (and they are completely open, like a satellite dish you lie in, not enclosing you in one bit) it's going to be OK.  We need to get your drugged out of your head, sweetie pie.  I did, and I am not claustrophobic at all.  Just didn't want to do it.....but now that I can listen to songs...that is so beautiful, Dawne Hope.

There is also, (did anyone read about this yet?) a new way to spot bc coming along where  you put your hoot into a little scanner thing (just the hoot) and it picks up the warmer spots and find bc that way....I don't think it's being used yet, but it is in trials I think.

I wll absolutely give to BCorg.  They sure have been there for us!!  Thank you, as always, sweet Laura Light.

    love you all, sweet peaches

Vanderlady, I just had the same experience at the APPLE STORE with those cute and earnest young "geniuses" at the genius bar. I have no idea how to get my bionic boobie slide shows to quit popping up, first thing, as soon as I hook up my phone to sync with my computer. And once those pix start rolling, it is beyond me to stop them. All I could do was yell "DON"T LOOK!!!"  Well, they did swap out my almost perfectly good iphone for a new one, so I guess it was worth it. (Give that lady a new phone so she'll take her crazy pictures and get outta here.)Ha ha

This is fun.... I've never laughed so hard in my life.

MBJ - Strange because although I don't feel I have claustrophobia, I did get it twice while living in SoCal --- once when putting on a very thick wetsuit with hoodie and all; and the second when I had the suit on out on the boat at Catalina.... jumped in the water, started hyperventilating and decided to abort.  I dove plenty before and after that so I mostly attritubite it to the 8mm thick wetsuit.  I did okay in the MRI until they gave me the injection and then I got a sick feeling in my stomach and thought I was going to throw up.... just tried to stay calm as I knew it would pass and it did.  I had that done in the a.m. and by noon I was getting two biopsies done..... how's that for spending your birthday week!

Dawn Hope - How sad that you lost your mom..... they are very special people and I'm sure you are still missing her everyday.  How did she do with her breast cancer treatments?

MBJ - Funny.... flashing your hubby with the laptop..... you could use that to your advantage!

Laura .... you are wearing off on all of us..... we'll all be snorting something in the coming days. Kate's wine, your coffee, Annie is peeing,  Lolololo

Funny, to make sure my boobage photos do not pop up on my laptop, I transferred them to a thumb drive which I now realize is hanging out in the bottom or my purse.  Hmmm...if I forget what is on there, someone could be the recipient of a very unusual powerpoint!!!

FYI, I will not be drinking anything further this evening to avoid ANY liquid products from exiting my nose!  lol

You guys are killing me!  Thanks for the laugh! Laughing

MBJ - I qualified it ... I knew that it wasn't going to help the claustrophobia.  That is way cool that you are a muscian/songwriter/singer.  Do we know any of your stuff?  :)

vanderlady - my mother was amazing.  She had eight rounds of chemo the first time a/c & taxol, radiation until she had a huge blister covering one whole side of her upper torso and she NEVER complained, ever.  She was always a source of strength and joy to everyone else.  She endured her treatments like a true soldier.  If I have half the courage and good attitude that she had, I'm going to be OK.

anniealso - so glad it was an encouragment to you!  :)

DawnHope:  Wow, I cannot imagine going thru what you are going thru after being wiht your mom thru the same thing.  I am so sorry.  Unfortunately, I was given many promises, but mostly people wanted to rip me off or they had their own agendas and when I finally hit my 40's I through up my hands and said I got to do something else besides wait tables, tend bar and sing for my supper.  I really miss it though.  I was on TV once and live radio once and I even had a producer put together a band for me and an independant wanted to sign me but to only write one style of music, which was my really, really, poppy almost beatles kind of stuff and at the time I was really into PJ Harvey and Tori Amos and baring my soul to the world so to just do the really pop stuff at the time felt like a sell out.  So my fantasy is my husband hits it rich, we move to the South of France and I will be a Chanteuse in some cafe or club belting out songs to whoever will listen.  Thanks again for sharing the story about your mom.  Do you do music at all?

    You Gals are hilarious,

You make this bc crap bearable......

Dawn-Hope, so sorry you had to go through all of that with your mom, and now yourself, Thats way too much PAIN>>>>

You girls, and your pics, I'm glad I don't know how to post them yet, all I need is for my 9 & 12 year old boys to get them , and show them to friends.  lol

MBJ -    Its sounds like you are very talented... We have a local boy making it BIG, He evidently was taken under the wing of someone Who really knew how to help him and not take advantage of him.  I saw on you post that you had fat grafting done,  could you tell me about that process?

Hoping for a great day to all,

    Tammy

Hi all, my mamo and ultra sound now requires me to have an MRI. I had an existing appointment with onc tomorrow, which has now been cancelled, who after having read the films wants me to have the MRI so I am waiting for hospital to schedule the appointment. I am highly claustophic and I plan on taking as much valium as needed to put me to sleep. I am scared to death of what is happening. I was diagnosed 10/9/09  and here it is all over again.

I used to be an Arimidexian but am now a Femara girl due to severe side effects.

Has anyone else had problems with augmented breast not being able to get a good read? I do have an implant in there as well.

    Thanks all.

    Hugs,

    Good am darlings

just a quick note.  I know we spend most of our time on here giggling and supporting each other on here, so I just want people to know about a truly heartbreaking post I just read this AM.  It is callled bi lat mastectomy and broken heart.

This lady so needs some good buddies.  She's been horribly hurt by bc and her bf is useless and the whole thing makes my heart hurt.

I told her some good folks would be along soon to help her out...anyone want to meander over and give a cyber hug?

MBJ, you sound like one talented lady!  Very, very impressive!

    love you all

Pam---I am ROFL!!!  Sad, but hilarious!

anniealso, I love your sense of humor.  I tell people, I can't wait to have all this behind me, er, I mean in front of me as the case may be.  I really don't want them behind me.

And as far as the MRI story.  Exactly.  Only, my originals were pretty small.  Not much hanging down and "udderly" impossible for any milking going on!!

I was upset when I got my DX, because I had just bought 2 brand new bras!!  I thought, what am I going to do with my bras?

Only 4 days til my exchange!!!  Excited and nervous all rolled together.

Hi Estepp, Had mast of right breast 10/30/09 with tissue expender placed and exchange late March. At the same time during Exchange, I had left good one augmented with implant to make it perkier.

They are thinking that they are looking at all bruising still there and remnants left over from surgery, since it was worked on too. I am praying to God that that is all that is there to this.

Thank you so much for responding.

Happy mom, you are going to fill out those new bras, honey! You will look amazing!  Yippee squishee for you!!!!!  Do NOT be discouraged if when you "unveil" them, they don't look perfect right away....some do, some don't.  Mine looked like a squished hamburger bun for a month or so then slowly took on it's contour, and now it looks so much like the "udder" one, it's kind of astonishing.  Well, it lacks a cherry on top, but all in good time.

You are going to be so comfy.............and so happy with this.  And you will certainly want to be buying even more bras, as frankly we all get boob greed and go hog wild afterwards.  VS here you come :):)

I laughed my ass off (I wish) over the boobs behind you.  Now, that would be a nouveau look, certainly.

Laura, I love your heart.  I love that you went and helped Beija....and your advice is so much better than mine.  You are the sweetest thing there is.  Period.

love you ladies, off to do housework yech
