Whew...working again. I forgot how TIME-CONSUMING it all can be. I am now the special education teacher and so I work with small groups. It is hard for kids to have learning issues and I am glad I can do this work to figure that out! And all this cyber bullying. I am relieved my parenting days are over as this is scary stuff. But then I have grandchildren. Where do we begin to guide them on this bullying business? Now these kids are doing this cyber bullying anonymously. No names are needed to send a mean message. I think Tom Borkav has a special tonight dealing with this.
Enough of my questions. I did not walk at the mall, but my school has a workout room so I did the treadmill. Lago, it is a relief to hear you say you do not love it.

I did get my MRI results this morning. I was telling some of you about how badly my scarring is from my recon. Well, the worst of the scarring on my good side, which is only about half an inch "lump," showed a little bit of enhancement on the MRI. The doc I worked with today called the radiologist to clarify, and they both think it's probably because the scar is so thick right there, but my surgeon wants to take it off and biopsy it. So that's what we're going to do, next week. It's in a spot that my bra hits and it does bother me sometimes, so I don't mind getting it taken off. I'm just SO hoping that he can do it in the office with a local and I don't have to do this in day surgery with a light anesthesia. He thinks he can, but my other doc who looked at it today says she thinks I'll need to be out.

I'm not going to stress about this! Well, not to much at least.

Susan, I'm glad that you find substitute teaching to be rewarding. I have thought about it so much but guess I'm just too lazy. I can't do it on Tuesdays because I bowl and I can't do it on Wednesdays twice a month because I Bunco and have a ladies' group. One Monday a month Mary Jane and I shop and get together. When do I have time to work? LOL Still I think I would like the little extra mad money. I make a little from the question writing but I spend so much time researching that it doesn't really add up to much. Maybe after I get back from Florida I will look into subbing just a little at one of the nearby schools.
Rene, I also have excessive scar tissue. At first I panicked because it felt like I had another lump. It's a scary issue so I'm hoping that your biopsy shows nothing except the pesty built-up tissue.
YEA Marina on the good scan results. That's what we like to hear. Now you can enjoy the holiday season and put the anxiety on the back burner. Hugs!
I have my tests in Peoria on Friday and am hoping that all goes well. I always get that nervous feeling before them and am getting another fever blister so out comes the Lysine again. That indicates major stress for me.
Well, I need to get busy and address some Christmas cards. I think I'll reverse my order and do the ones that need notes in them first. That way the remaining ones will be easy. I really enjoy getting them and don't mind sending them. As always anymore, I just tend to procrastinate, so I'm putting on the Christmas music and getting started this morning while I have some veggie soup simmering on the stove for tonight's dinner.
Hugs to everyone today! I hope you have a good day!

Ta-Da . . . . here I am! Laura sent out an APB yesterday and found me :-)
All is well with me. Fantastic in fact. I only have one minute to type.... as I am headed off to my pre-op physical; I'll have my port removed on Monday - yaay!
Finished 15 rounds of chemo, the day before Thanksgiving. Perfect timing, as I have MUCH to be thankful for! Just been busy decorating for Christmas, doing the shopping, getting together with girlfriends and such.
I'll be back with more later ~ thanks for caring

Good crispy morning everyone. Marina....fantastic that your tests are so positive.....wonderful holiday gift. Rene' hopefully you will get an office/wide awake procedure and be on your way with b-9 results for your X-mas present this year. Rita....as always those 'dang' tests. Knowing what we know though --- at some point you'd start worrying if you didn't have them. Ginger, wonderful to see you -- glad things are going well and you will have a chemo-free holiday now.
I'm going to be out at House of Hope today. Our treasurer resigned last night, and I will end up being the temporary treasurer. You worry though.....those jobs can get to be permanent if your not careful. Well, anyway --- hoping to get things to come together a bit better. We are struggling.....need to find the right track here.
Hope you are all going to have a fantastic day.
Hugs, Jackie

Be warm.. and drive slow! in the snow!!!!Teach tomm and hope kids get to play outside!!!1'

Oh....sooooo cold. Good to hear from Mandy and Ginger and Adey and all the rest
Irene, I am glad you are taking it in stride. Just another inconvenience. I am interested in this density issue I am reading (Lago, I think you are in on the discussion). I have super dense breasts and now I read that it is that condition (not imaging difficulties) that may causes a greater incidence of cancer. I am not putting this right...but you know what I mean. I asked the surgeon about have a double mx as precautionary and she said I would need to get counseling on that before she would do that. I need to pursue that some more as I have no problem with counseling if it gives me some leverage against this thing. The latter discussion with the doctor took place two years ago. She said that annual mris should pick it up and so I do do that.
Rita, I I like the "mad money" from subbing. I also like the kids, so I sub. The kids at my school are just so fun and nice. Next week I have a luncheon and a doctor's appointment on one day and I care for my grand kids one day, so I schedule my working days accordingly and I like that structure. I was able to do my Christmas Cards during free periods at school today and I think you know I like to write, so I can write or edit during free periods. All in all it works for me, but all my lunch buddies who are retired teachers do not like it (they tutor for extra income) so it may not be for all. If I had taught Math or a foreign language, I could make in tutoring one hour on the North Shore what I make subbing a whole day. I taught English and so that does not translate to tutoring possibilities. This week I am special ed and that tends to be relaxing as it is small groups.
Take care ladies!

Zap I had 2 tiny, very perky, very dense breasts. My mom and sister have the bigger versions. From what I have read dense tissue is like fertile ground. It doesn't cause breast cancer but breast cancer thrives in that kind of environment. With regular MRI's you should be fine.
But you have love getting those notes on your mammogram that says the results aren't conclusive because your tissue is so dense. I still can't understand how my tumor needed to be 5.5cm in my A cup in order to find it.They were dense but not solid rocks.

Hi Girls...very interesting about dense breast and MRI's. I am a believer in MRI scans as I alternate mamo in April and MRI on Oct. My MRI found my right tumor last month that didn't show up on the mamo. So for me I will continue this schedule. Zap, I have to tell you when the nurse is sick everyone wants to talk for you. lol I have laryngitis / bronchitis this whole week and have been coughing up a storm. Just not what I need before the holidays. I have to whisper to talk and the kids are whispering back to me. Cute..
Glad to see Mandy, Ade, Ginger , Donna are doing well. We have missed you girls.
Finally got up my xmas decorations and trees 4 total. Cards are half way done but no shopping yet. I still can't get this done working full time. How do you guys manage to get it all done?
Looks like we are in for a few inches of snow. So be careful out there.
I am soooo tired and need my cough med. So off to dream land. Have a cozy evening and stay warm. Only 5 more days to break yeah!!!!!!

Hmmm have to make a decision. I hate driving in snowstorms. My DH and I are suppose to go back to michigan tomorrow, (we got free casino money from our last trip) and I am willing to cancel. So as he is leaving for work this morning he says, well do you mind if I go on my own.I tell him no, that would be fine. Now I remember no it wont as he needs to wrap my arms for the stupid LE I have. Damn. now what. I so hate driving when its bad out. Come on Snow Fairy, let it come next week.....

Oh Onward.......It would be hard to pass up a casino outing........snow or no snow! LOL My son lived in northern Minnesota for a few years and when we drove up there, we planned our "out of the car" stops at the casinos. It was so much fun!
Ginger...so glad that all is well and you've just been busy with the holiday preps! YEA!!!!!
I'm off in about 20 minutes to Peoria for my check-up there. The sun is out here right now but it's still pretty frigid. At least I don't have the snow to worry about yet but we are supposed to get more tomorrow, too. It's hard to figure out how much is on the way. It depends upon which weather report you choose to hear or watch!
Jackie, you're going to be such a good treasurer that they're not going to let you quit! I think you've probably signed on for the long haul. LOL
I hope everyone has got most of their decorating done. I finished about half my cards yesterday and hopefully I'll get the rest done this weekend. Then except for wrapping a couple of last minute gifts.........I will be done. We have Dave's company party tonight so the festivities are now in full bloom and I hope to really enjoy them this year.
Catch you later!

So pretty out today with the sun, but it's pretty chilly. Not much time here as need to go back to House of Hope for the 3rd. day in a row. Hopefully, all this will lead to instituting some good rules and schedules.
Bj, sure wish you did not have the bad throat and chest, but thankfully ( and hopefully ) you'll be well enough to enjoy the holidays. I bet people would forgive you ( pretty dog-gone easily too ) if you sent out New Years cards instead of X-mas. Same amt. of work, but maybe a little less burden while your getting well. It is just a thought -- I did it one year that way.
I'm not s scrooge ( I don't think ) but use to mail out 70 or 75 cards every year. With higher postage now, I just wait to see who I get a card from and then reciprocate. Sometimes you just have to re-arrange your style somewhat. More affordable on the monetary side as well as the energy side. It has worked out well for me.
Hope you all have a stunning day with as few problems as possible. Let the sunshine in.
Hugs, Jackie

BJ: This year I am doing something I have never done before and so help me it is cost effective and working. I am shopping online. I know that sounds "scroogey" but I have my coupons, my free shipping, and coming home to those packages stuffed between the doors is saving me time, gas and aggravation. Sometimes I get free wrapping! I have a whopper of a credit card bill, but I would have that if I went to the malls. I also have every family member compose a wish list and I keep to it as our family as a whole is trying to minimimize stuff. My daughter is only getting three gifts for her girls (ages 3 and 2). One for each of the three kings. Of course the grandmother is giving gifts to them that equate to a herd of sheep visiting the Christ Child (is herd right, or is it a flock....it has been a long day).
Onward, I hope you go with DH as it sounds like a fun getaway. I am not a nurse but I live somewhat near you. If you really do not want to go on the getaway, I bet I could wrap your arm if you tell me how to do it and give me a few practice shots at it. I am serious. I have no plans this weekend except to make still ANOTHER BATCH OF COOKIES fro the retired teacher cookie exchange. I am getting sick of that.
Okay, I was greatly humbled today. A teacher friend at school has a son who had neuroblastoma (a sort of childhood cancer). He received treatment and survived. Now the chemo is being blamed for a bad blood reading that indicates possible leukemia. Apparently chemo can cause leukemia in youngsters. He will have another blood tests and then a bone marrow check. It is worrisome indeed and again I find myself thankful that my children and my grandchildren are healthy. To those who believe in the power of prayer, please pray for my little friend that he will be okay and/or that we all can in the end accept God's will even when it seems impossible to do so.

Quite interesting Jan. Since I basically don't drink milk, have tried to cut down on cheese and don't care for yogurt as I once did....I would have sworn mine would be low.....but all turned out fine. I probably should have asked for the actual numbers. Maybe in February I will. Glad you passed on that link.
See you all tomorrow.
Hugs, Jackie.....just now home from work.....very long day.

Zap I've been shopping on line for years. With my family all being out of state, or shall I say in different parts of the country it's much easier to shop and ship on-line. Better for returns too. Also you can find discount coupons. Much easier to price shop too. This time of year so many people and their kids have colds/flu's. Why expose yourself to that anymore than you need to?
JanClare my onc had me take another blood test to check my D levels again on Tuesday. I was low normal once I started taking supplements and she wants to make sure. She has also added calcium supplements once I tested for osteopenia. She's really on top of things. Thanks for posting the link.
-------------------
Feeling much better today. Actually about 4 pm I started to all of a sudden feel good. My eye sight was normal (I think emend makes it funky) and I felt more awake. So I went on a 1 hour power walk, and enjoyed it. It was really nice out yesterday. Funny but I never realize how crappy I really feel till I feel better. Guess it's better that way. I still feel lucky that my SE are very doable compared to most. I still don't have that flu like fatigue or nausea. Granted things are still falling off. My eyelashes have thinned since last Saturday. Oh well, still got my eyebrows.
Yes I think I will hit the gym today.
I will post cookie picture if I make them. Hoping Zap will do the same.

Oh my -- I'm up and its raining of all things. Well, this time of year I'm inclined to think snow storm. It has in fact, rained in December a lot around these parts. Cousin getting married today; so hoping the rain backs off then. We cannot attend. We are both working today. I had hoped to fit it in.....but not going to happen.
Susan...that is sad news about your friend's son. Bad enough to have had the first cancer problem -- then to get another at this time of year when it is all carols and joyfulness, and anticipation. I think there is probably a little piece tucked inside all of us that feels some upset ( and humbleness ) that this family will have a challenge like this one during the holiday time. I hope ( they will be in my prayers ) they find a comfortable comforting place through these holidays.
Lago....I think you have your finger on it, and said it perfectly. Many of us don't realize how BAD it really WAS until it's NOT anymore....and that almost magical moment when your free fall stops and the destruction and construction become evened out much better. That is what makes you able to go get the next tx. I had nausea every time for close to five days.....so a couple of times I had the thought that I would not be able to go BACK for more. Thank goodness for Dh. He was not about to accept stopping for anything.
Probably have snow by tomorrow here. I think that would be better than the pouring rain. I'm not liking the rain today.
See you all later.
Hugs, Jackie

zap - I've read that PayPal is the safest way to shop the net...

Zap, make sure if you do not use paypal (I don't) do not put any personal information in unless it's a secure page. The way to know is in the address bar it will have https instead of http. This will come up when you check out and it starts to ask for you personal info.
I buy lots of stuff through amazon with my credit card. Do not use a debit card.

white count question from JK.
I was wondering if you had any suggestions of what to take or eat to boost red and white blood counts besides shots. My white count is always low because of the chemo and I do get shots but I was wondering if there was anything else. My red count is ok but most of counts are just a little low and was wondering if there was anything I could do to boost them just a little.0
