Well I have to say that it looks like everyone had a wonderful time. Welcome to all the new girls who came out in the snow to have some fun. We are glad you came. Good food, good friends and lots of laughter was the highlight of the day. You all know that we are a very chatty group and could go on for hours maybe days chatting away. he he. The sparkles were every were from our smiles to your toes. Thank you Wendy for the sparkle dots and Sparkle Elf which is your new name now for those purple sparkle shoes. For Jackie who was there in spirit. You looked good!!

For Rita and all the others we missed you too. Don't worry I talked all about you !! Thank you all for helping me pull off another successful party. So you will have to wait until next year to see what I come up with. Maybe Santa will visit.  hehehehe

Your party planner is now off to put up her Xmas decorations. Have a wonderful fun filled evening.

Remember to be healthy....be happy and enjoy life. Hugs to all of you.

    BJ

I am working hard re-sizing all the photos...

...but in the meantime...OUR HOLIDAY PARTY WAS AWESOME! Cannot tell you girls how much you mean to me. Getting together with you simply keeps me going! I send hugs to each and every one of you...whether you were able to attend or not. I have been here at bco since 2005... I simply could not have gotten over my dx without you. And I LOVE helping others here and on many different threads. I will post pics tomorrow...but, again in the meantime...THANK YOU SO MUCH! BLACKJACK and WENDREW... thanks for all you do! You are true angels...I, WE are truly blessed! Whether you believe in a higher being or NOT...we are here for each other!

I adored being at the party!  I'm not a very "girly-girl", and I grew up with two older brothers, but I feel like you are all my dear BC sisters and you all show me what strong lovely women should be!  (I'm seriously thinking about some sparkly shoes now!  Cool )  Lago- I forgot to look.. did you wear your sparkly shoes too?

Thank you to BJ & Wendy for all your hard work.  Seriously, you are such wonderful party planners.  The room was beautiful- a perfect place for us all to gather!

Jackie, you always provide us with so much inspiration.  When I read your words, "and if anyone stops and thinks, even for a second of me, I'll be there."- I knew you had to attend!  Rita is our Duchess and we are so happy that she has been able come north to visit her subjects- but you, you are our Poet Laurate and I know that your BC sisters would love to hug you and tell you how much you mean to us.  So, you were there with us!

What a lovely party!  Thank you to everyone who has welcomed me so warmly into this group.  And to Blackjack especially for making the party so wonderful for all!

Thanks to Jan espcially for truly going above and beyond yesterday in her busy day to keep me company while I picked out a wig before the party.

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of you!

Morning all....17 on my snowcovered deck....brrrrrrrrr!  Roads are clean and dry but be careful of ice!  I got home in record time yesterday, 35 minutes!  From Schaumburg!  I guess everyone was at Woodfield!

Char, Lisa, Jan....lovely to meet you!

NavyMom...great to see you again.  Where did you get those earrings?  Wonder if you realized that Laura and I were trying to figure out how to steal them!!!!

Lago....you know how to do scarves!

Jan...had the tea last night and you were so right...much better than Celestial Seasonings.  OH...that reminds me...

Any of you girls asking Santa for an iPad/iPhone for Christmas...you CANNOT POST on this forum from those items.  You can read but CANNOT post!  Don't know why...I guess something to do with Apple and apps.  I have asked BCO to address this problem...actually asked them about this 2.5 years ago when I got my iPod touch and found out I couldn't post but nothing so far.  Hopefully this will be fixed soon!  Does explain why I don't post every day anymore as I read on my phone and am too lazy to go get the netbook...which is all of 15 steps away!  LOL

And Connie and Mich101....you need an iPhone!  Zombiefarm, tapfarm, scrabble, Angry Birds....etc.  And you can FaceTime with me!!!!!!

Which reminds me....who has iPhones!  Blackjack introduced me to Words With Friends (scrabble) and it is soooooo addicting!  Come play with us!  JulieB....join us!

Had 2 parties yesterday, another today.  I am already looking foward to tomorrow when I can just stay home....well, except for laundry, house cleaning, grocery shopping, the GYM (boy after all the goodies I do need that).  Uh.....well, that doesn't sound like much fun.  Parties are more fun!

    Have a great Sunday, all.....enjoy!

    OH...and Susan....NO SUNDRESS TODAY!!!!!

Yes that's what it said online. http://www.chicagoweathercenter.com/

JanClareno sparkly shoes. I don't wear spikes, even little ones in snow weather
Thanks Wendy. It was the scarf not me.

BTW I wanted to thank who ever purchased the little angel for the grab bag. It's really nice.

    Three Rules of Life ...
    1. Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.
    2. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.
    3. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition - they somehow already know what you truly want to become.

    Good morning everyone,

JanClare, I have you to thank for making sure I was a pictorial guest of honor at the party yesterday so many, many thanks.  I'm sure my name came up a couple of times because I had such difficulty a few times staying in touch with my work.

When I feel, hear, and see the joy that comes from these gatherings it always reminds me of the great good fortune I have had to "FIND" Rita's thread.  Out of all that was going on when I first came ( always understanding later it TRULY was meant to be )  somehow this part of BC. Org just stood out to me....beckoned in a way that made it feel here is where I would be safe and accepted --- where I would find the most comfort and answers, and I rate comfort just as high as many of the answers.  We sometimes need some serious hand-holding and you all do it so well.

I hope you are all thinking of yourselves as VAP's today.  You are VERY APPRECIATED PEOPLE to me and in my mental special book of remembrances....you are all on the first page.  I am so thrilled to read all of your entries about the party and so glad you so enjoyed each other's company.  I'll be looking for pictures later.  A big thanks again to Jan.....and talk to you all soon.

    Hugs, Jackie

p.s.   brrrrr, Wendy.  eating lots of holiday calories keeps you warm doesn't it???? Or is that running in the frosty air to burn them off.  Anyway.....sounds like you had a good time.  Good for you.  Stay warm.

What a great party!  It sure was great to see everyone.  Yes, it was too short.  It was great to see all the veterans and meet the new girls.  Thank you BJ for your outstanding, as always, party planning.  I think you have another career in your future.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures!

It sounds like the holiday party was a great success (nothing more than I expected with BJ at the helm.....she does it up right!!!) and that everyone had a great time.  I'm so glad the weather didn't keep you away and I can't wait for those pictures to appear on the thread!

As I'm sitting here reading about the party and all your feelings, I once again am amazed at what a wonderful "sisterhood" we have and how much each and every one of us brings to this thread.  May you all have a wonderful holiday season!  You are all so very special!

Joining in to say Thank You BJ and Wendy for the wonderful party and all your thoughtful little gifts and decorations!!  Also thank you for making me feel welcome and part of this group!!  I joined right before getting my final diagnosis and have never felt like I should leave!!  And don't plan on it for a LONG time!!

So nice to meet the new girls and some of those that have been on the boards but haven't made it to the lunches I've been to!  This board is a great place for me and I so appreciate it!!

Had a cookie-decorating marathon with the grandchildren who are entirely too young and too uncoordinated to decorate cookies.  Tidy man (DH) was running around with a dish rag trying to clean up after us.  Then the three year old set up the manger and told the Christmas story and we got it on video.....priceless.

I am chilling now.  Has anyone seen the movie The Reader?  I just finished watching it and I cannot believe how good it was. Warning....not happy!

I still cannot get over how wonderful it was to see people yesterday  Cancer is crappy and I wish none of us had to deal with it, but I am sure am glad I have you all in my life.

Wendy and BJ, many, many thanks! You outdid yourselves, and the party could not have been more spectacular. I so enjoyed meeting all the new ladies, and seeing everyone else again. The time flew by, and I couldn't believe how quickly 4PM rolled around.

Rita, a special salute to you for starting this wonderful group. I'll bet you didn't realize at the time how important this would be to so many people.

Wendy, me too. Got home in record time, just about 40 minutes. I guess everyone was still shopping. I'll bet you will figure out the iphone posting thing. You're awfully good with the techno stuff! I miss your daily temp from the deck when it isn't here.

A special thanks to Laura for keeping us all connected, and able to contact each other. Gotta love the addy list!

Jackie, thanks for all the quotes to keep us thinking. You were with us in spirit yesterday.

Elf, love all the sparkes! I also loved babysitters back in the day. Way back, but at least I can still remember!

Each and everyone of you is so special to me, and I think of you every day, even if I'm not posting very often, and I'm already looking forward to next time!

Smerf, I feel the same way.  I clearly am old enough to be most everyone's mother.  You, however, dear, do not LOOK old enough to be that. Smerf, I liked your upbeat message that perhaps our treatments (aka chemo, rads and meds))  are allowing us to get older.  My darling husband's mother died so young of BC because she was so fearful of  what she alone discovered in her breast and the treatments available to her at the time. Lots of denial and isolation in the sixties.  And here we all are at this party, with varying stages of cancer, generational differences.....you name it....and we stand together in our fight against a disease that will not keep us timid.
