I had a rash that sounds like yours.  Turned out to be a fungal infection (from where ???) and an antibiotic fixed it up right away.  I still swear I got it from the water while showering.  2nd the motion...call the ps :)

Ok, not sure where else to go with this question.  My original 'rib' pain turned out to be a muscle/stitch issue.  That is slowly resolving itself.  Now when I run (treadmill) and randomly during the day I am having weird sternum and lower rib pain.  Only on the rads side.  I couldn't even run this morning because of the discomfort.  I tried holding my implant in place to see if it was too much movement.  No difference.  I am really getting pissed off.  I am done with the whole recovery thing and want to get back to normal.  I am 6+ weeks from my exchange surgery.  I need to exercise or I feel awful.  I am sick of going to the Dr's and don't really even know who to ask....rad onc or ps???/  Any thoughts?  If not, thanks for the vent.

It might have to do with the stressed pectoral muscle Mom3... are you doing stretching exercises for that side?   Opening up the chest by lying on your back on a 36"  foam roller can do wonders (I am recently discovering)....

Mom3:  I was told no running for at least 3-6 months after my exchange.  The Alloderm takes a long time to heal and especially where you had rads.  I 2nd doing stretches for that side--you might even need some PT.  I had to commpletely modify working out since my body no longer works the same way.  I was told walking only.  I know Val here was ordered to where 2 sports bras while working out.  Even just a little movement can hurt in the beginning.  Hugs.

mom3band1g - 6 weeks isn't long at all.  I second what the others are saying ... give yourself some time.  I was told not to run for 3-6 months after my exchange.

DawneHope:  Thank you for the encouragement!  I have my pre-op on the 28th.  We are talking about doing the fat or Alloderm underneath in the areola area but I imagine they can't do this until they do the tattoo?

mfrog:  I am more scared about this procedure, too.  Up until now I have been very happy with how my foob looks and I am so afraid it will get all messed up with new scarring with the new fipple!  Take a deep breath or two--I am so sure it is going to be worth it after reading everyone else's posts!

Thanks everyone....for telling me what I did NOT want to hear!  I want to be 'done' and in my head I am.  I am stretching almost daily.  I have a pilates reformer and am doing 2lb hand weights.  I just need some aerobic work.  Once I hit 39/40 my metabolism went down the drain and it's making me crazy and feel so gross.  I can walk on the treadmill but I have such limited time that running just gets the job done faster. sigh.  I hate this.

God, I hate how whiny I sound.  I really am not like this IRL.  I just don't want to complain to my dh all the time.  Sorry.  I know it could be worse and I need to work on seeing the positive.  I am too impatient.

mom3band1g - Think about this way.  If you wait, you really can come back.  If you try to come back too early, you could possibly damage the reconstruction, need more surgery, and it will be even LONGER to come back.  Patience right now will pay off later.  I am preaching to myself too!  :)  Hang in there!

mom3band1g:  If you cannot complain HERE, where can you complain?  Eh?  Just do some floor work, i.e., leg lifts, squats against the wall, walking up and down stairs [just wear a supportive sports bra like Val wears for aerobics]  But I agree with everyone about refraining from jogging for 3 to 6 months....

I agree with Deborah -- if you can't complain here where can you complain?  Bitch and moan -- we can take it!  We feel your pain -- literally -- and we understand!

Brenda so sorry about your implant. I hope your flap surgery goes well for you..sending positive vibes your way!

After I had my cording issue (which has resolved since revision) the PT told me to take it easy on certain exercises for a while. She told me to wait 6 months for chest exercises like push up chest presses and butterflies and to not use more than 5lbs for repetitious exercses and to not lift more than 20 lbs. She said it takes a very long time for the muscle to fully heal and to just not overdue it and GOD knows I don't want anymore trouble. My trainer at the gym put together an exercise plan I can do at home. LOTS of squats and lunges and bicep curls. I am fine with that for now. Since I live in the Northeast I think I will wait till spring for running.

Regarding my rash it is fungal. i got meds and cream and see PS on Friday. Thanks to everyone who PMd me I have been busy on the internet reasearching this issue.

    Have a good evening everyone!

Hi I had a bilat MX in march..and the exchange in November. My PS did some lipsuction and pocket work on my right side. suddenly, the right side has dropped and seem sto have migrated a bit to the underarm.  When I saw the PS yesterday he said he could try a revision if i wanted but he thinks the shift is caused by the muscle pushing down on the implant. Im not thrilled with the whole implant scene. I previously had a reduction so the scars I have are massive. I'm tall and a little overweight...he gave me silicone implants 800's they are only a generous B. If I lose weight will they look bigger? I just don't know if i should bother with a revision...

One more question..What is the deal with the bras? My ps told me to wear a sports bra for the first two weeks and then I am free to wear or not wear what I please...he also gave me no restrictions...what have your ps' said about restrictions..lifting etc...and bra wearing?

    thanks

    Hi Ladies...

I am yet another radiation casualty.  My radiated foob opened up (not at the incision line).  I have been trying to save it since first week of October, 2010.  The pin hole opening finally dried up after 3 months, but you can see the implant through the hole, and the skin around it is compromised (flaky, dusky-colored).  PS will make a half-circle incision instead of football shape like other LD flaps.

I'm praying my flap does not die.  This is my last chance for reconstruction, isn't it?

Though I have not posted I have been reading up.  Good luck to all those who are getting their exchange soon!!!

Lilah, just one side.  There's nothing wrong (medically) with the other side.

    Thanks.

MBJ,  Glad to hear it's not just me who's running scared.  Like you, I'm really, really happy with how I look right now & don't want to mess that up.  But I guess I have to trust that it will work out well.  Both of my friends who were going to come with me to make sure he put them in the right spot have jammed out so I'm feeling a bit abondoned, but I'm sure it will be fine.

I'll post tomorrow when I get home.

Emme - Check out the Bras 101 thread.  There is a lot of helpful information in the header to that thread.

Brenda -- I too am so sorry to hear that after all the time you spent waiting and being patient, it still did not work.  I truly hope the Lat D flap does the trick and that this will be the end of surgery for you and the start, finally, of the new normal you deserve.  We are here for you.

Emme -- implants do not change with weight loss, so in fact your implants would look larger if you lost weight (though a shifted implant would still be shifted).  I am sorry to hear that you too are having less than satisfying results.  Perhaps a second opinion from another PS on the issue would be worthwhile?  It's just an opinion.  I second the direction to Bras 101 thread... there is a wealth of info there on what bras work best etc.

Brenda:  I am so sorry to hear that after all this time ti didn't work out for you.  I truly hope that you have success with the other surgery.  Are you going to use the same PS or do you need to go to a specialist for this?  I know my PS does amazing work in this area, even though I had implants.  Best of luck to you.  Hugs!

Lilah:  My breasts will look bigger if I lose weight??!!  I am so on it!

Mfrog:  Have your PS draw exactly where he is going to put them.  Also, ask him how he will choose placement as I have read here that there is a very mathmatical, geometric configuration they do to place them perfectly.

Hi Gals - Thanks for all info on that rash of mine, called, I had been using benedryl cream and pills and this has helped, I see PS tomorrow, they told me to continue what I was doing and yes, possibly allergic reaction to glue and steri strips.  If it didn't look better they would give me steroid shot to help boost my immunity system.  Ive been under so much stress these last few months that I think that all just built up and I had a major crash, of course, this can come out on your body and with your body and also doesn't help the healing process.  Things better now, I had to hit rock bottom first before I could crawl back up the hill to reach the top and am doing so.

Will keep you updated after tomorrows meeting!  Dot, thanks hun, I guess you thought I fell off the face of the earth, good things commin my way!   Hugs darlin! xoxo

MBJ - well sure they will!  Just think about it: they are not biological (not made of fat) so when you lose weight you will NOT lose weight in your implants... in your case the remaining breast that is augmented may get a little smaller but the implant inside it will not.  In my case as well: my implant will never change size but my natural breast (which is ALL natural) will get smaller.  In fact, I really want to lose weight for that reason (as if I didn't have reason enough to lose it :) because my natural breast is still larger than my implant.. and so for me, losing weight should improve my symmetry.  For anyone who has two implants and no remaining natural breast the breasts will stay as they are but you will lose weight around them... so naturally they will look bigger!  I suppose that if someone is going to lose a LOT of weight there may be issues with that... but in your case, especially if you feel the implant is a little smaller than your natural/augmented breast, a small weight loss could even things up more.

Hello my dears, I've been away for so long, I am so sorry!

Life's been nuts, kid home from college (yay) for a month, so I "gave" myself a head break on all things BC related.

Good to hear all is going well for everyone.  Any lat flap questions, I'm one, so do not hesitate to PM me if I can help!

Annual mammo on the natural gal on 1/31/11 at 11 which I am hoping is a lucky date and time.

(gulp) even with oopharectomy, hysterectomy, 3 years out and arimidex, this till makes me a nervous wreck, so prayers would be greatly appreciated!

love to all, and yes, I lost weight and my boob and foob were more even.  Boob still sags, but that can be fixed :)

    xoxo

Went for my 3 month post op with the PS today.  He said the foobs have softened and settled in nicely and look better than they did 3 months ago - I told him that would be the drop and fluff - he liked that phrase.  So you guys do know as much if not more than the doctors.  So everyone - do wait 3 months for the final results!!
