Hi, everyone, I live in NW IN, just 30 miles southeast of Chicago. We are still getting alot of lake effect blowing and drifting, but thank goodness the schools are closed again tomorrow. Yes, I hope everyone stays safe and warm. God bless you all, Kathy

Great to hear from you Kindergarten!
I just heard that my school is closed again. DH is back to work. We took a walk and thenb a drive. Everything was closed!
If you like Westerns, go see True Grit this weekend Jeff Bridges is just my favorite actor (he was in Crazy Heart) and Matt Damon is very nice to look at!. DH and I wanted to see the original with John Wayne, but the library was closed.
Stay warm!

Oh Susan, I loved the original True Grit. John Wayne and Kim Darby. One of the John Wayne movies I loved the most.
Laura -- doesn't sound like you got any of our ice. It will be minus 2 here tonight. I'm wondering what has happened to southern Illinois. The City came and took care of our tree in the road....hooray, I don't have a long walk to the car now.
Hope you all enjoyed your day.
Hugs to Carolyn.

IL Ladies,
This snow storm reminds me of the one in 1969. I was raised in Chicago, now living in CA. My sister and niece came out recently to help me with my mastectomy. My niece has been stuck here loving the sunshine for a few days until the flights can take off back to Chicago. They live in Hickory Hills and Palos. I could not beleive the pictures of Lake Shore Drive. What memories. Best Wishes on your treatment ladies.

So Ladies, How's the weather? We have not been hit hard as of yet in Cincinnati, just have a little, but it is supposedly coming this weekend and I am hitting the road to my Dad's just as soon as I finish work tomorrow morning so I get there before the roads are bad. Talked to my girfriend in Cols yesterday and she said it was a mess there. My cousins and Uncle live in MO. and they got a ton, but you probably have them beat. I still plan on coming via megabus on the 23rd and hope to get to meet quite a few of you. I hope you all have a good day. Marybe

Southwest winds increase 12 to 26 mph with some 30-35 mph gusts Thursday afternoon. Yes girls it's going to be a chilly one. Keep warm and bundled up.
Has anyone heard from Carolyn? If you're reading this Carolyn make believe I'm making one of my stupid remarks that gets you to laugh.

-8 degrees here in the boonies of Channahon. My fitness center website says that they are open today. I am going to aerobics this morning. Been eating nonstop yesterday so I need to something to get away from the chocolate chip cookies!!
Have a great day, gals. Hey Carolyn, how are ya doing, girlie?

What if we just acted like everything was easy?

Morning BRRRR,
I know it is much colder up North than here so I'm just trying to act like it is a lot warmer than it really is and be grateful for the blessing of not having to actually be out long. Some people have to work outside in this kind of weather. Trees remain iced up so hoping no more of them or their limbs fall. Great to drive into my driveway yesterday ( the city crew removed the tree from our lane ) and I had way less icy ground to traverse.
Thinking of you Carolyn -- while wishing for some good weather for us all.
Hugs, Jackie

Morning Ladies.....sounds like we all made it thru ok....it is 6 on my deck with bright sunshine. My grill however did not make it....Tuesday about 6pm we were having terrible wind gusts and it snapped the bungee cord on the grill and actually picked the grill up and threw it across the deck. Everything from inside was thrown all over the snow. Only good thing was the gas was totally dc'd but it landed on the front and the knobs look all screwed up. Oh well....and it was only 2 years old. But then again it was all infared and it turns out I didn't like not having at least one section with direct heat.
DH too has another snow day but if he doesn't go in to his building it counts as a personal day so he went a few hours late yesterday once we got our driveway done and he heard that the lot at school was plowed.
Sounds like everyone is doing fairly well, health-wise. I did have my complete px on the 26th and everything is perfect except of course for my chol. which continues to creep up. All my docs say that because my chol ratio is ridiculously good not to worry , that this is due to arimidex and they are not concerned at all.; Of course I googled high LDL and got a few more tips so am off to the store to get oat bran to sprinkle on my food and some unsalted nuts. I figure it can't hurt. I have until 8/1/2012 on arimidex so I want to try at least to keep my chol down as much as possible. Yeah I know....they all say don't worry! I have the chol. ratio of a healthy teenager! It's always something!
Jackie...ice sounds terrible. I hate driving on ice and I will avoid it at all costs. Our street is plowed but is shining so I will need to be careful. Thankfully I am only 2 short blocks from a state road and that should be ok.
Time to get ready to venture out....need a few things, have to p/u a BD cake for a family party tonight and then a nail appt..which of course is the most important thing! LOL
Please be careful out there...I am sure there are a lot of icy spots....and stay warm!
HI CAROLYN !!!!!!!!!!!

Dear NavyMom, I used to work at the Manor INN restaurant in Channahon, during college. I just loved the Anderson Family who owned the motel and restaurant. This was back in the 70's. We just moved back to the Chicago area 2 years ago. Do you know if the Anderson's are still around, I know Mr. Anderson, the patriarch died. When I saw that you were from Channahon, such great memories came back. I hope that you and everyone on this board is staying warm. God bless, Kathy

Hi All,
I am sorry to let everyone know that I just got an e-mail from Carolyn's sister that she passed away this morning. I am truly stunned and shocked, and of course, sad. It was just a one line e-mail from her sister and I am at work right now. I did reply to her, but I wanted to let everyone know as soon as possible. I will also send an e-mail out to the group. I did give Dy my cell number if she wishes to call me this evening.
With a very heavy heart,
Lisa

I'm sitting here at work reading this sad news about Carolyn and trying very hard to hold back the tears. I'm stunned as I'm sure we all are. My heart goes out to her family.
Rest in peace, dear Carolyn.0 -
WHAT! OMG I can't believe this. Although I am deeply upset at least it appears that Carolyn didn't have to suffer that long. But I still have to say… this sucks.

Nothing "NICE" is coming to mind to say about this disease at the moment.. Rest in peace Carolyn, and yes it seems like it all happened fast and quickly for her.. UGH.. I'm in shock..

This is very sad, but maybe Carolyn heard the news and just decided to leave in her own way, without the additional struggle. Maybe she found her peace and she simply then let go. Yes, we must all now keep her memory alive and pass a message from her that one day there will be a cure, and prayers for her family!
Thank you Lisa, for keeping us all glued together here with this news.

Adding on.....does anyone have a picture of Carolyn from the holiday party? If it is uncomfortable to post it, I understand, but eventually I would like to see her face again...so whenever!
Thank you!

I am so sorry to hear the news about Carolyn. It breaks my heart....and yes, she has her toes in the sand. If you look really hard, you can see her, sitting in the lounge chair....And she is smiling.......

I sit here just as stunned as everyone. Only you and God know the time and though we'd like to yell and scream and shake our fists a little with the burden of the emotional pain I so enjoyed reading what Susan and Wendy wrote and think to myself --- yes, Carolyn is gone but she went with thoughts dancing in her head of a luncheon being planned and looked so forward to by all her friends as well as herself.
As far as those who feel they did not do enough --- if you loved her and cared about what was happening to her, you did enough. I think it is not always what you do, it is more about if you had the desire. If you cared and everyone here cared and held their breath a number of times over the recent events of Carolyn's life, you will have done a wonderful thing. Sent her home to her eternity covered in your love and care and your strong desire to help her down the path she had to go because you did not want her to have to go all the way alone. And she is in her chair and she is smiling.
Prayers for strenth in the coming days for her family. Peace to all.
Jackie
