Adey & Navymom- glad to hear that there are fellow scrappers on our thread.  I wish I could send some inspiration to you!  I've been using supplies to make more cards lately than anything else. I think I found that they were something I could do fast and get the feeling of accomplishment. Once I start working on something it is relaxing and the mind can wander onto better and more fun things.  My actual scrapbooking has almost come to a halt since I finallly bought a digital camera - have tons of pictures on the camera and that's where they've stayed!  Someday, I'll get with the program and figure out how these darn "new fangled" things work. (I'm not showing my age am i?)  Navymom - you live pretty close to me - I'm originally from Morris and we now live a whole 9 miles north of there!

Hey Zap!!!  I am so clueless on how to post pictures or video on this computer so i'll just have to be old fashioned and say  "Happy Birthday"

Scrapbook-Sounds like you and I are about the same when it comes to New fangled stuff.           I love Morris.  Fun Places to eat/drink/shop.  I have never been to Newark.  Maybe sometime!

Happy Valentine's Day to all you wonderful ladies!

DH and I already had a bottle of champagne last night to celebrate my 5th year cancerversary, and we're going out tonight with a couple of friends who really helped get me through all my tx. I'm completely spoiled now, and won't feel like cooking tomorrow.

I attended Carolyn's wake, and spent a bit of time with her mother and father. Also met Dy and her husband, and beautiful children. It was so sad, but they were glad to see all of us who came, and said that we were who "got it" according to Carolyn. Whenever one of them said the wrong thing, Carolyn would just go to her computer to connect with someone who understood, and they were all grateful that she had that. Glad I went, and still sad that someone so young was taken too soon.

Thank you so much for the birthday greetings.  I have spent a lifetime competing with Valentine's Day, so I tend to downplay my birthday (more so as I get OLDer), but coming home to your greetings and waking up to some on  Facebook, I must tell you that it made me happy.

Thanks all and I love you!

    Dear Beautiful Ladies:

I got through the trauma of turning 63.  I danced with my granddaughters on Sunday.  I blew out so many  candles that I became breathless.   I listened to the seventh grade students, some with changing voices, sing Happy Birthday. I ate gluten free cake and didn't choke. I learned how to  love Tinkerbell AGAIN.  I got through it.  Now there is just one thing I request.

I would like a morning quote to get me through the first day of the rest of life with the rest of my breast cancer sisters.  Jackie, can you do that for us?

    Love you all!

    Susan

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SUSAN! I'm glad it was a good one for you. Hey, you're almost catching up with me now, but the fire department made me give up candles. So many it's too dangerous!

So many of you are great with the graphics! I remain clueless, but maybe some day I'll figure it out.

Char and Lago, glad you are both feeling better.

Jackie, like Susan I hope you will continue to inspire us with a daily quote. You sisters need that, and have come to depend on it, so if you can, please do it for us.

It is late this evening, but I feel it is only fair that I tell you that I received a very nice and gracious  pm  ??? some time today from Lago.  I do realize that I was quite hasty in addressing my feelings and fears that the thread would change drastically.  I should not have said anything -- when you panic about something you usually end up I guess being challenging.  So, I must take responsibility for that and apologise to all of you.

I would never withhold aid, comfort and hope to anyone and the times when people have come to our thread I have done nothing what-so-ever to dissuade them.  That being said, I have never even considered asking anyone not from Illinois to join this thread out of respect for Rita who made it possible for me one day to "find" this thread that became my lifeboat -- not because it was Rita because I didn't really know her then.  I gave up three other cancer blogs because while the people were nice, and very knowledgeable, none of them felt like anything I could relate to -- they never made the little sound that always plays inside of me when something is right and I have been able to trust that sound now for many, many years without reservation.

Lately I have been pushing myself ( not by choice, but by need ) and spent the entire week-end at the Shelter, then doing Maggie's, then coming home to mine.  I thank God I have been given the strength, but I might have just learned a valuable lesson.  I need to be at the Shelter again bright and ealy tomorrow.  Again, my apologies to all.  I do appreciate the wonderful notes I have received and I so appreciate them and your understanding.  I will do my utmost  to be circumspect from now on. Even though we were not able to connect Laura....I do also thank you for your call.

    Love, Jackie

Hey Jackie...I do understand your concern, and please don't worry about it. It's late, so I have not called you back, but let's talk soon. It's obvious from the response here, that we all are behind you and support you. Hugs to you! Thanks for your daily inspiration...keep it up, sister! Love ya!

Morning all....26 on my deck and still dark but warming up nicely...I cant wait!  I actually brought up one chair and plopped it on my front porch...and I will sit there on Thursday!

Smerf...WOW!!!  5 years!!!!  Congrats!  I can't wait for that milestone which will happen this November.

Susan....glad your birthday was great!  And tho I am sure Jackie's quote will be much better how about this "Hey Susan...its the first day of the rest of your life...get off your butt and LIVE !!!!"...but you don't have to hear that one as you, Susan, have learned the secret to a wonderful life and could teach us a thing or two.  Actually you have....to me.  I would have loved to see you dancing at the Tinkerbell party....how fun!

Hmmmm....scrapbooking....I always thought that was so neat!  Since Ive stopped crocheting I need a new hobby but what would I scrapbook about?  No kids/grandkids!  And I really don't think a scrapbook of my life would be all that interesting.....

Lago....glad you ar taking care of your nails.  That really sounds nasty.  I've had a few infected hangnails over my lifetime and I thought that was pretty painful. Can't believe you are still cooking/typing!  Be careful tho.....you need those pinkies to style your gorgeous hair soon!

Char...so glad you are feeling better!  Amazing sometimes what OTC drugs can do/cause!

Marina...how's the toe doing?  So happy that you are responding to the vaccine....I am soooo hoping for all of us Her2+ gals that this vaccine will someday soon be available to all of us to keep this type of bc away ....I am soooo hoping and praying!  NOW....we need something for you triple negs!

Jacks....no need to apologize....I know how much you care about us.  But we needed to let anyone who might come here that they are all welcome and we want to be here to support them.  And you knew that too and support all of the sisters,  even the ones in Timbucktu!  OK....do YOU know how to spell that word?????  Hugs sweetie.....and.....don't forget that Susan needs her quote for today....something MUCH better than mine!

Off to the gym....have a wonderful fab day all!

But Jackie, my sweet friend...You didn't give them an inspirational thought?  Where is your poem?  See, they love you here...

You guys I'm not from Illinois, but my Grandmother used to live there! Wink So I'm kinda/sorta feel like I'm among friends...  So Jackie, since you forgot, I'll post them this:

    Three Hairs

    Spiritual Story by Unknown

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head. "Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today." So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head. "H-M-M, " she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle today." So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. "Well," she said, "Today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail." So she did and she had a fun, fun day.

Ah....I can count on all of you and I can count on my very beautiful friend Jeannette ( Chevy-Boy ) as well.  Another rough day in Paradise for me today but it's what I live for and Jeannette, you definitely are among friends here.  I have been counting on Jeannette for a long time too.  The saying goes.....the best way to have a friend is to be one.  I think I'll take that piece of advice totally to heart.

    Hugs, Jackie

    Good morning everyone!!

Had one of the cutest V-Days yesterday.. on the couch with all three kids watching the Bachelor.. and talking to my DD about boys.. I was in heaven..  My DH and I never celebrate on the 14th because of crowds.. last year we didn't do anything at all..no thanks to my diagnosis.. made reservations for tomorrow night.. hopefully he'll be well enough to go..

My toe is doing better though still can't walk on excercise.. I finally got into 'the groove' so will have to start all over.. hopefully in a few weeks..

Got my bloodwork back from Seattle and ALL numbers are normal.. FINALLY!!  I think I know now wht supplements raise what.. so when I have blood tests coming up I just have to be more careful.. I think my liver is now forever fragile.. :(

So glad that things seem to have been resolved here.. we've all had a few very difficult emotional weeks here..

Welcome to the few new girls.. and you will love this thread!!

Smerf 5 years is awesome.Time for a happy dance

    Happy dance for Smerf

Marina Glad to hear the vaccine is sitll doing it's thing. Keep it going girl! We  never celebrate Valentines day either other than exchange cards. Like Susan, our birthdays are in the VD week. We once went out for dinner on the 14th instead of the 7th… never again! We waited over an hour even with a reservation, food was fair, service terrible and the experience was anything but priceless!

My finger is much better today. It started to drain when I took the polish off yesterday. My dermatologist said it isn't infected so no antibiotics… I'm happy about that. Just need to follow up on Thursday with a phone call.

Yes I'm still doing stuff. I can't just sit in front of the TV all day. Granted I am not on my hands and knees scrubbing floors… and god knows they do need it.

Enjoy the sunshine and "balmy" weather today. Looks like a nice one.Are they really saying 60° on Thursday!!! The last time it was in the 60's I think I still had some hair. Tongue out

Quick drive by to say hello.  You can really get behind on this thread very quickly.  Belated happy birthday to Susan/Zap.  And congrats to Smerf on reaching your 5th cancerversary!  So wonderful to reach that magic point.  I am coming up on my first cancerversary and don't think that I feel I can really celebrate much yet.  I still have my exchange surgery coming up on March 30th so still feel a little bit "in active treatment" until that is done!  Lago... glad to hear that your fingers are doing better and Makmak... whoooo hoo!  Sounds like your Seattle trial is going well.

Jackie... I guess that I was not following the recent controversy, but we all look forward to your daily words of wisdom so please stay with us.

Welcome to the new gals.  You will love it here and hope to hear from you often.

I am going to try to get up to Mandy's today or tomorrow to pass on to her my cami with the drain cups in it.  Oooooh, the thought of having to deal with those nasty drains!  Hopefully, she won't have them long.

Jackie- Because of you I now have a quote folder in my emails!

    Congrats to Mak and Smerf!

I had rad number two today... creepy.

Lago- Take good care of those fingers.  I walked by your favorite spice shop yesterday.  Walked from Ogilvy to North and Wells, felt good.
