sunangel - You will have to let me know how the nerve block goes.  I have have burning/stabbing pain since the first of the year.  Nothing helps and no one know what to do about it.  My surgeon was going to refer me to a pain doctor but I refused at the time.  I was so tired of seeing doctors I could not face another one.  The pain is there every day and tolerable - just wish I did not have to deal with it.  I have enough reminders about BC without that.

Hi Gals!  I WAS feeling great, then the last 3 days I have Asthma & Bronchitis...but I have enough drugs to blast it into next week!   This darned rainy weather doesn't help any either!

Sunangel!  Holy cow!  I hope some competant doctors get a handle on your pain!  That is un-believable that some of our Docs just don't care, or can't find the time to LISTEN to us!  I went to the Urgent Care Clinic yesterday, & I like that place better than my Primary Care Doc!!  No'one should have to suffer like you have!

Jo!  Yes, I found several of those little windmills at the Dollar Store, Ha!  And I leave them up all year...So we can see if the wind is blowing, & they ARE cute!  I've been trying to work around my gardens, but it is too cold & rainy, still!

Thanks girls for the Welcome Back...!  Talk to you later! xoxoxo

sgreenarch- my version of the '24 hour rule' is....if today is bad, tomorrow will be different..likely better...so remind yourself that anyone can get through 24 hours...and that tomorrow is a new day to start all over....so yeah....giving yourself 24 hours free from worrying....good job!

chevy- I am no longer on tamoxifen either because of the heart attack...but this is my 'main hread', if you know what I mean!

Sunangel please let me know about the nerve block. Even though I am on meds for my nerve damage it has been worse the last few days and that is my next step but for some reason it really scares me

Chevyboy - I got mine at the dollar store too.  I needed something to brighten up my garden and they did the trick.

Sandee - Love your version of the 24 hour rule - that is definiely something to live by.

Oh Geez Sandee..... How long were you on it before your heart attack!  Man, that is SERious!!!  Do your Docs think it was the Tamoxifen?  It's funny, because I asked the Doctor at the Urgent Care if he had heard of it....(I had to take out my hearing aids, so he could look in my ears...) And he said "Yes, it's uncommon, but it DOES happen!".....Probably the same with you?  I like that 24 hour rule..... I'm thinking that myself today....This coughing HAS to get better, before I get banished to the garage.....Undecided

Tink!  I'm not just visiting....I've missed you guys....I'll just hang out with y'all whether you take Tamoxifen or not...Wink

Sherry - Since we both have the same kind of breast pain I thought I would pass on some information I found on the internet.  From what I have read, we may have what is called "Post Breast Pain Therapy Syndrome"  It is a result of nerve damage from radiation and is underdiagnosed.  Most physicians don't know about it.  The most common treatment for this is to have a nerve block done by a pain management doctor.  The symptoms can start several months to several years after treatment.  You may want to check out this website: cancersupportivecare.com.  I don't know how to insert the direct link.  It has some interesting information.  I am going to print it out and take it with me next month when I see my onc.  My BS has already told me he would do a referral but I don't see him again until mid - Sept.  Let me know if this is helpful.

Sunangel...all I can say is OMG!!!! Thank goodness you wen to the pain clinic and that they have given you something to calm things down...Bp189 over anything is NOt good.....sooo glad you got some help and hoping tomorrow beings even more relief?????

Tink- did they talk to you about massaging the direct area of surgery to ensure the scar tissue does not (I am not sure of the right word to say here...) 'bind?"...my breast has not been as sore lately...but it could be I am just noticing because my left shoulder is hurting too much and is distracting me! could not wait to get the bra off last night and it was only a camisole....strap was dug into my shoulder....

Jo - Thanks! I thought your explanation was great! I actually wrote mine out before I finished reading the thread and vopoila ...there yours was!!

Chevy..started tamox on November 23rd and had my heart attack on March 21.... I kept thinking my signs of fatigue was radiation fatugie ( could not for the life of me figure out why I was getting THAT tired post rads...but what the h*** do I know about rads..aything is possible)...nope...signs of a heart problem....artery starting to clog up I guess....was told to go off the tami as soon as my oncologist heard..he wanted to see me 4-6 weeks later but i lost my mind on the nurse)(politely but firmly said no way am i waiting 4-6 weeks to see him....you hav ejust taken away a drug you said i had to be on for 5 years....i need to see him this week)...she found an opening for me...unfortunately,  i am not pos menopausal ....just had my blood work done and i am NOt there yet so....have to hope that the godus is listening to my thoughts abuot benig cancer free and that the 'best case scenario' really is best case...

Chevyboy it is about time you came back.....I missed you!!  How's the ears?

Alicia Happy Happy Birthday to you!!

Sunagel nice to see you again and thanks for the kind words!

    Paula WELCOME!!!!

Jo and Chabba you gals have been supplying many good drinks out there, keep them coming!!

Tink and Sherry how are you lovely gals today?

Well Dad is still in the Hospital but seems to be doing better!  Spent the weekend there along with the driving to and from for sports for the kids, so I haven't had much time to chat with all you gals.  Missing each and everyone one of you.  I go to see my Radiologist tomorrow and I am going to ask her how long I have to keep visiting her?  Not sure why, but I hate having appt after appt as I am sure we all hate the many routine visits.....

June -  That would be a good question for your Radiologist.  I stopped seeing mine one week after I finished rads.  I had to go in for a skin check - to cover his ass - and then I was let loose.  I did not argue with that since he was such a moron and I hated going there.

Tink - Where have you flown off to this time?   We miss you!

Hi June- good luck tomorrow at the radiology appt! I only saw my guy one time 3 months post -radiation. Said I am good to go and do not have to see him again....I am thankful!

Jo- yep..two minds indeed...I want to be you when I grow up!

Tink- How are things going for you? Crazy how?

I am actually feeling incredibly sad tonight....the concert went well last night, I gave my testimonial and outed myself re. surviving a heart attack and mentioned the cancer too for good measure...but my cat is really ill....and it may be time to let her go. She was given an antiiotic injection last Monday and was starting to eat, drink, purr and poop again...but 2 hours ago, she started the same growling she was doing last Monday morning....and it has not stopped. I cagave her kitty-codeine but it does not seem to be helping....and the vet essentially told me there is nothing else they can do for her except keep her hydrated and out of pain....so....sad...and tired.

I start my 24 exercize classes tomorrow and if it is thte same gang that was there for the dietician's information session, I am going to be extremely irritated and plan on keeping my earbuds in!...also have my stress test at the hospital on Tuesday ,....not sure how I am going to do as I am extremely tired and out of breath these days...! On a 'high ' note, I was able to hit alll the high notes and had almotst enough air to hold all the notes too so maybe there is improvement and I just have not noticed it!?!?

Sandee so sorry about kitty, that is the most heart braking thing to do is let go of our 4 legged friends.......praying that she hangs on in there......sending you a great big hug along with a drink!

Sandee - So sorry about kitty.  Hope she can hang on and get better.

June - I do have my days - the last couple have been good - hope it continues but still using the 24 hour rule.  Sure miss you here.

Peg - Like June - I also find that interesting and want to ask why?  My onc is like my one-stop doc.  He does all my labs, schedules any scans and/or tests - even my mammos.  I really like this idea - less doctors, fewer appts and there is no break down in communicate between them.

WOW this train has moved fast I'm am sure I am missing something.

June glad you got some time with your Dad this weekend and that he is feeling a little better.

Peg and June I had a 3 month followup with my RO and then he turned me loose.  He said that since I was seeing my MO every three months and also still seeing the BS he thought it was overkill if he made me come back any more.  So he said for me to call if I need him.

Jo-thanks for the info I am going to look at that site.

    Jules-watch your drink

Sandee glad your concert went well last night, get some rest.  Maybe the exercise classes will be good.

Chevy glad you came to visit.

    Sunangel I have missed you.

And Alicia's been MIA for her B-Day. Hope you are having a good one.

My Dad is feeling so much better since his surgery he is back to his joking self and giving my aunt a hard time.  I have to take him friday to the MO but I feel pretty sure they will start his chemo next week.  Next weekend I will not be on the boards as my DH is officiating a wedding so will be busy helping my friends out.

Hope everyone has a great week

I am not sure why I see the rad/onc.  I don't see my breast surgeon at all anymore.  Saw him once after my second lumpectomy and then he cut me loose.  It is so strange the way doctors do things so different.  It has usually been the rad/onc that orders my mammo.  I haven't had any follow-up blood work.  Of course, I will now since I am on the TB meds.  Every month liver function test for the 9 months I am on it.

Peg - You obviously like and trust your rad onc.  I would not give mine the time of day - he was an incompetent moron and I would not go back to him for any reason.  Whew!  Sorry, just a little anger come out.

Peg the only reason I am seeing my BS is that I have this nerve damage that she is treating me for. But I also like her very much and know others that have choosen to continue to see her once a year just for an extra check up. My RO was also a really great guy and good looking too, but oh well it is nice to cut out a dr if you know what I mean. My MO orders everything on me.

    Hi,

I made a seperate post but didn't get any replies so just asking my question over here just in case any of you kind ladies can help.

    Thanks,

    Jules

I was diagnosed at 38 and am now 40.  I just had my annual MRI and my right breast is clear (where the tumour was located).  BUT my oncologist told me that there were glandular changes on the left side which need to be monitored.  He thinks this is the hormonal effect of Tamoxifen and my age as I'm still quite young  I have been on Tamoxifen for 14 months.  Has anyone else had these changes?  I'm scheduled for my mammogram in September.  I'm not going to worry as I know MRI's often throw up things which are of no concern.

Morning gals!  Sorry Jules, that you couldn't find an answer right away!  I hadn't heard of THAT one, due to Tamoxifen, but ANYthing is possible~ But I looked it up, & found this!   So I wouldn't worry, BUT print out a copy and keep it for your records!  When do you go again?  I lost my hearing from Tamoxifen & even more serious things can happen, because we are all so different!   Just find a Doctor that will listen, & take any information with you!

Sandee....Honey, I feel so bad about your kitty.... We love them sooooo much, and sometimes it's just that we have to let them go.  If there is no hope, at least you have her life in your hands.  I had to take our old dog Chevy for his last trip....I had to carry him in, all 45 pounds of this guy who couldn't stand up...But they were waiting for me, & I took him in, laid him on the table, & held him while they gave him the shot...He just laid his head down on my arm, & I cried & held him tighter, while he went to "sleep".....It's never easy....I'm thinking of you....just in case.  It just makes me so sad.  xoxoxoxoxo
