    Hi ladies,

I rarely ever post on here, but, today, I really could use a boost!  I have been on Tamoxifen since Nov 2009.  The side effects have seemed to come and go.  Some days are worse than others.  As of late, I have been having night sweats and consistent hot flashes throughout the day.  I am at my wits end and am ready to throw my pills out the window!  I feel terrible complaining about this, because I know that I am very fortunate and things could be so much worse, but at the same time, I don't want to continue to go through this for another 3 1/2 years.

Anyways, thanks for letting me vent...feel better, already Smile

JO!! SUCK IT UP!!!!!! heheeeeee      I can understand that one!!! I am single.......and these co-pays and perscriptions have eaten my lunch this month and last with so many dr appts.  But, finally some relief so I can't complain too much! I might be able to go to work and actually concentrate on my job!!!!!  :)        I am sure my co-workers will like that one!! hehe   They have been great tho with me and all this, but it would be nice to be the "Paula" I use to be.........they called me the one to cheer everyone up because I was always smiling and laughing before this all happened........now maybe I can get back to that!!!!! :)

    margodae,

I have the hot flashes, and sometimes night sweats.......mainly the hot flashes during the day....I just turn up the air at work, and at home when it gets bad......  or sit right in front of the fan!!!!
I use a ceiling fan on me at night, so it helps......sometimes!!

Don't worry about venting, we all do at one time or another, or some of us more often that not......I have felt like I have been alot lately......... so go for it. and know that we are here for you!!! :)
Hugs ladies........and have the best day you can!!!

sunangel - Yea - I am going to pull up the big girl panties and get something set up for next month.  I am too stubborn to do it now.  I have had an appt free month so far and want to finish it that way. This will be the second month in a row.  It is such a great feeling.  Thanks for the kick in the butt.  hehehehe

Good Morning!  The Tammi Train is picking me up at 11am today.  Woohooo! Thursday I leave to go to NYC, then on to Pittsburgh to see my mother who is ill...She's suffering from a severe depression, and she's now participating in a study about depression post menapause.  Then on Sunday, I travel with my dad down to South Carolina to help him with the house, and help him pack so they can live with my sister in Pittsburgh for a couple of months.  Needless to say I feel harried and frustrated, and aside from the gripe that I never just get to see my family without some sort of crisis...I need to know one thing...How long were you on the Tammi Train before you started getting SE's?

GirlFriday - Sounds like you have a hectic week ahead.  Just take a deep breathe and do things one at a time - remember the 24 hour rule and you will do great.

I was on Tammi about 1 month before I started getting the joint pains.  I am taking glucosamine/chondroitin and it seems to work good.  The upside to Tammi is I no longer have raging hot flashes - just warm waves so sleep is better - don't have to get up in the middle of the night and change clothes.

     GOOD MORNING TAMMI BABES!

Thanks everyone - chevy that's a really interesting article.  Tamoxifen creates all kind of havoc with us but as long as it's keeping us healthy I guess it's worth it.  I discussed the issue with my GP today my onclogist didn't tell me the bit about where these findings were not suspicious when he went over the results with me, so I guess no need to worry.

I've been on the tamoxifen for about 2 months now and I've started to have small "waves" of feeling warm at night. Had to take the covers off! Have never had to do that before! Oh well, I'll keep right on taking the "tammy". I call it my little cancer eating pill :) And I'm greatful that there is "something" that I can take to keep the beast at bay!

Yeah, I start each morning with a smoothie: 1 banana, whatever fruit I happen to have (strawberries, blueberries, or this week, blackberries) and sometimes I throw in some spinach or kale, and one scoop of whey protein powder with some skim milk. This is a very nutritious way to start the day and it keeps me full until about 11:30 or so.

I'm also trying to be better about drinking more water. Seems like I'm getting a little more dehydrated from the Tamox.

margodae welcome and don't worry about venting on here.  We all do it

Girlfriday my SE started the first day I took tammi.  Mine was insomnia.  It was very bad and prescriptin sleeping pills helped a little but not much.  Finally after 2 months I was finally able to start taking melantonion and it is working.  Not everyone has SE and others have many.  If you have something going on just come here and ask and we will all share

Sunangel--I know about those jabbing pains (bring you to your knees kinda pain).  That is what I had before i started taking Elavil.  It has stopping the stabbing pains but now it feels like very heavy pressure.  The radiating burning has stopped with the Elavil but I still have burning pain up by my SNB site and it moves to the other side of my armpit.  I am assuming that is where my damage is coming from.  DH wants me to make both of us an appointment.  He wants a second opion on his nueropathy treatment as well.  So guess I will do that this afternoon.

Ladies I joined tink for lunch it was so good, thank you!!!!!!!!!!

Sherry - I don't know if the cloudy, humid weather is a factor today but I have this heavy, achey feeling in the bad boob.  Whenever my arm brushes against it there is so much pain.  Does this sound like something you have had in addition to the burning/stabbing pains?

I drink alot now never did before.. but I feel dry all the time. I woke up this morning thirsty and dry but I was sweating all night so that may have had something to do with it too....

SAndee woohoo I love reports like this

Jo-yes my bad boob felt like that all the time before I started my meds.  Just felt full and heavy along with the pains that I was having.  Since being on meds I don't have the full and heavy feeling but continue to have burning pains and more of a heavy pressure in the area I was having the stabbing pains in.  I did call today and got an appointment with the pain managment Dr for next Friday.  DH and I are going together.  He wants a second opinion regarding is neuropothy and how it is being treated.

As of 545 am, I'm on the train!  And because of the full moon, I'm in some sort of fighting mood.  Of course it's not even 50 and has been raining for the last week...I think my spring attitude has molded into just plain nastiness.

Hey did any one notice on their script printout that Tammy can cause weight loss and diarrhea?  I guess that's a balance to the dx weight gain and constipation!

GirlFriday I was one that actually lost weight after starting tammi, maybe because I was so nauseated I could not eat, but all the same lost 5 lbs and have not gained it back,

Well, if you're not sleeping, you're, nauseous and you're having all of that sex...I would think you would lose weight!

I've been meditating with this most wonderful group on Wednesday nights.  They do a healing circle at the beginning of the meditation, so I've been throwing in the women I've met on here.  Not sure if it will help, but since meditation is one of the purest forms of prayer, I'm trying to do my part!
