IsThisForReal - I experience a lot of fatigue on Tamox. I was on it a couple months last year, then on arimedex for a month and a half, now back on Tamox. Back to being super tired. Loss of motivation to do anything. I really have to force myself.
I LOVE Mac & Cheese!!!!!!!!!!

Okay forgive my while I curse......I wrote this book and hit some freaking wrgon key and POOF!!!!!! Boy does that bug me!
Anyway hi to all you lovely ladies hope all are doing well and I just want to set the record straight as I am way too innocent it is Jo and Tink you you have to watch as they are always one step ahead and whacking everyone every chance they get......he he
ECGI feel your pain but not sure why this is happening to me! I have been a complete witch lately and I cannot even stand myself. I love my kids more than anything and lately I just don't even have the patience with them. I used to be the Mom that could not be without my kids.....love spending every second, vacation, time off with them and now not so much anymore......what gives??? I have no idea. I finished my 1 year a few weeks ago and never even told you ladies as I didn't even want to celebrate as I feel like it has to be the pill. But NOW?? 1 year later? Could it be? Is it pre menopausal? Just very short and not very happy. I know I have a lot going on with my Dad, but I cannot believe this is a result of his being sick, but who knows......so to make a long story short. If you get any answers, please tell me as I could use any help to jump this hurdle alive......I miss you!!!
Welcome Patty and Is this for real! Fun place to be and all the ladies here are all so helpful!

June - Who are you trying to fool? You are as bad and Tink & I. Just because we are better pillow fighters - I can't help that - we have had more practice. hehehe. Oh! and just for that - WHACK!!!!
faithroad - Now I know why I have little motivation and have to force myself to get things done some days. I do tire easily and thought it was leftover from rads.
I hate Tamoxifen and I definitely hate BC.
Sorry, in a crappy mood today - have to wait (I hate that word too) 3 more weeks to get something done about this painful boob. UGH!

June sister, it could be lots of things and I am sure the stress of your Dad is not helping matters at all Just one extra thing to add to your basket. Have you had your hormones checked to see if you are going through menapause. Sweetie hang in there and make some time for yourself it will pay off in how you interact with your family. And HAPPY CANCERVERSARY late, it is something wonderful to celebrate.0

Jo, sending you HUGE hugs from WA.
I've noticed I tend to be in a beter mood when the sun is out. So considering I live in WA where the sun is never out I'm in a mood a lot. LOL No wonder my family keeps on encouraging me to take a vacation. Mmmm
Twice baked potatoe for me tongiht. Love the smell of mac & cheese, but my taste buds have changed since chemo so things taste differently.
Making Lychee martini's tonight. All welcome!
Jules

Thanks Ladies. It's good to know it's not just me, but the tamox!! I sure hope splitting the dosage helps, and I did have a bit more energy today, which is excellent. My family Dr. keeps talking about depression, but truth be told I start to feel down when I am fatigued for too long. When I can't get my energy levels up, it affects my mood after awhile.
Faithroad - I am the same, have to force myself to do anything and feel overwhelmed by the fatigue. Have you ever tried splitting your dosage? It was toasted bacon and tomatoe sandwiches for us tonight, yum!!

Sherrythank you you are truly such a love.....my regular Doc does not believe in checking for hormones as she feels it is a complete waste as she thinks I am too young and will only check when my periods have stopped for longer than 2 months.......I just usually am a very happy and easy to please person and lately I scare myself and tend not to like who I am......I know Jo was in a funk a week back, maybe it is seasonal as the weather here has stunk since winter.....if this is anything close to menopause, shit I am not going to like it!!!!!
Jules count me in as I won't let you drink alone.....he he.....how are you my friend? Have been thinking of you since losing your Grandmother.....hope you are doing well!
Now Jomy friend, I take offense to you saying you are Tink are better than I.......HMMMMM!!!! How is that for being bratty?
Isthisforreal your dinner sounds wonderful! I made Beef Barley soup 2 times today, once for my Dad and the other for us. I also made my Dad a beef stew to have for the week and I really could use a down day. Supposed to be 80 here tomorrow and that dinner sounds like a good one to me!!

June - the sandwiches are easy, of couse, and since I have two 14 y/o, I try to make my life easier whenever possible, lol. You may just have to try that tomorrow for your down day so you can get some extra rest. I find those days really really help out with that dastardly fatigue. On the flip side, there was a lot of housework we got done today, including vaccuming, washing floors, laundry, dusting and that's about it. Oh of course, lunch and supper. The kids did the all the dishes today and did the majority of the laundry also. They are a big help!0

June - I never thought the Tamox was effecting my moods. Sounds like it sure can. I thought it was all the boob pain I was dealing with. I felt really good over the weekend. Seems I have to make myself do stuff and when I was told I would have to wait 3 weeks for the one appt I really need, it drove me in a foul mood. The mood swings are terrible but I try and get myself out of it as quickly as possible. I don't know if splitting the dose would help? I take the full dose in the morning and I know by early evening a lot of nights I am exhausted and haven't really done much to get that way.0
-
Well I think I overdid it this weekend with exercise and am definitely sore today. Oh well at least there is a reason for it and it isn't just a SE like sometimes happens. I rode my bike, walked, played golf and kayaked and my body is telling me all about it.

For any newbies on tamox here. some info ..............after one month on tamox. no side affects except mild hot flashes at night.........oncologist says if I do not have any side affects after 30 days then I probably will not develop any now. YEAH!!!

welcome ISTHIS FOR REAL and Pat.. Pat so sorry to hear about you and your sister.... I experience alot of the fatigue as well... I think it is a combination of all of it.
I know my body isnt the same as it was even without the Tam. Even though i had a bilat mx the side that they did the node dissections on nvere feels good... some days better than others but never good. and heaven forbid i skip a few days and not do the exercise those lovely cords build up quick and here we go again, I am sure each of us is experiencing some type of physical discomfort along with all the emotional issues that go along with it, I think they take longer to get over... thats my opinion anyway.. so luckily we have this thread we we get eachother and can at least make one another smile...
JunieB... how is your dad??,...
Jo... I am thinking we are going to need extra pillows for fri as we are getting a bum wrap!!! lol
Hi Sherry ECG Jules Faithroad Chevyboy..and to anybody I may of missed sorry I cant even remember what I just wrote so forgive me!!!!

Oh Chevy more mac n cheese, Yummy. So far I havent ate a mac n cheese I didnt like. I grew up on the blue box, yummmmm! My kids ate alot of it too. We even put fried chunks of spam in it. I know before you are grossed out completely, we love spam. I even saw a food network show about a resturant that serves spam and they gobble it up. My kids called it spamaroni.
I had such an craving for ham n beans so I made a pot of them. Guess what Im gonna be eating for days. Im the only one in the house who likes it, so bring on the beans. Does anyone know the bean song. Here goes, Beans Beans the magical fruit the more you eat the more you toot! We just crack up on that song as a kid. Now Im wanting a bowl of beans and a side of spamaroni. Im off to raid the fridge.

June, doing well thanks. I guess we are at an age where we start losing older family members.
My daughter summed it up when she reminded me how sad I was in February when I last saw my grandmother. She wasn't the gran I knew and she would be so sadden to know she was in a nursing home with dementia.
I haven't had a period since August. I must be in menopause???????
And thanks for not letting me drink alone. LOL

Paula I come from a large family and I grew up on beans and Spam......funny someone else has too......I love beans and my Aunt makes the best baked beans. I just have never done it and I think it should be on the agenda.....thanks for bringing back childhood memories......
Tink you little devil. You are getting a bad rap as you and Jo are too good at this Whacking stuff going on......Dad is doing the same. He finally let go of his pride and got someone to come over 3 days to a week to help him shower. I spent yesterday there and made him Beef Barley soup for lunch and Beef Stew for dinner as he has so many relatives there helping him out and it is the least I can do for him......
Jules losing anyone seems so hard. The last time I lost someone (Grandmother) was well over 25 years ago. Not looking forward to losing my Dad and maybe Sherry is right. Maybe that is my mood even though I feel it is not.....so hard to see people you love so much suffer......I am glad you are doing well and anytime you need a partner to drink I am here for ya sista!!
Jo I am going to try and get myself outta it pretty quickly. I think I will have to make the extra effort to try as living like a witch is not for me......I miss you gal!!!

I haved been reading this thread to get ready because I am going to be starting Tamoxifin after rads, but my surgery isn't until July 27, so I'm just lurking and getting some info. But seeing your post about the beans song brought back a memory I thought you might get a kick out of. My cousin had an assignment in first grade to write a poem. He was a bit sneaky. Can you see where this is going? He thought his family was the only one that knew the beens song, so he submitted it as his own. He was lucky, the nun got such a kick out of it that he didn't get in any trouble, just gave a huge laugh to the whole class and family. And I'm sure a dose of humiliation to my cousin. I am chuckling thinking of it.

Tink - What did we do to earn such a bad reputation? We are both innocent -

June - I hate this emotional roller coaster ride. I am blaming it on Tamoxifen - that is the only thing is can be. Gonna take it one day at a time. You could probably use a good WHACK!!!! this morning and some breakfast.
Love ya Tammi Babes - Have A Great Day.

Jo you always make me laugh and please don't hold back!!! Breakfast was good but my lip is sore.....hmm, I wonder why?0

Mrs Beaslley congrats no SE's so far. Hope you are the lucky one for a smooth ride.
June and Paula you gals can add me to the Spam club. I also come from a large family and one of my Mom's meals was fried spam and potatoes. Have not eaten it in years.

I have been on Tamoxifen for 13 months. My hair and nails refuse to flourish. They grew very well before I started Tamoxifen. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any suggestion to get my hair and nails jumpstarted? I am very frustrated. I feel great and have no complaints otherwise (except for the wicked hot flashes most of the day and waking me up at night) Any suggestions would be helpful.
I find these message boards somewhat useless because people post the most silliest things, like jokes, recipes...etc. I just want a place to get help from the side affects of breast cancer.
Thanks for an intelligent response.

welcome Beacon..well to be honest we do have fun around here too it breaks up all the stressful stuff. But to answer your question I have been using this shampoo with Q10 in it and it doesnt necessarily make my hair grow back but it does make the hair I have feel thicker so I will settle for that. I believe several ladies also have tried Biotin I have not so I cant say if that helps or not, but good luck...I am sure someone else will chim in too with their experiences
OK Sherry love that!!!!! can I join the Spam club too? even though I have never tried it... I can provide the entertainment!!!!
June/Jo how are you lovely ladies doing todaay??

300beacon--I have been on tamox for 3 1/2 months and I have been having problems with my hair and nails as well. My beutician put me on Nioxin hair treatment. I just started so I don't know yet if it is working. My hair is thinning really badly. I also started about a month ago taking biotin for my nails. Again too soon to know if it is helping. I got these suggestions from others who said they worked.

Welcome Beacon - Tink is right - we tend to have some fun here to break up the stress and feel good about ourselves. I can't help you with the hair issues - I don't know if mine is thin because of age or the Tamoxifen but I have my cut so it looks thick. For the nails, I had strong nails before but now they are much softer. I have been using Knox Gelatin. I love Jell-o so I mix it in with it and have seen some improvement.
Tink - How are you doing today sweetie?
